Chapter 391 - 391 The Original Water Bearer

"Thank you for understanding. I will return momentarily." Yuki disappeared from sight.

Rex slides done on the ground. "I am sorry Kitten, I was not able to keep you from suffering. You are so strong and gallant. I would do anything to keep you from harm. What did you have to suffer like this? When will you be able to relax and live your life as it should?" 

"It is because I am your granddaughter. That I am who I am forever and always. I know that Yuki expects me to sleep and I am exhausted but Grandfather, I knew that you would blame yourself. I do not hold you responsible. Yuki may have gotten mad at you and given you sh*t but just remember that I am your family. I know you best. The seal may have broken but I am alive and I intend to stay that way." Kitty opened her eyes weakly and looked over at Rex. "I am so very tired." Her eyes closed once more and she succ.u.mbed to the sleep.

Rex gets up and goes to her side. "I promise that I will protect you through the night so that you may rest and recover. Rest now and we will talk once you get through the worst part of this." He sat in front of the bed staring outside that waterfall making sure that nothing would come into the cave. 

Throughout the long evening, nothing happened. Yuki returned and wanted to kill Rex but knew that it was impossible. She sat on the edge of the bed waiting for her to awaken. 

Kitty started to stir in the early hours. "Mmmmm, what time is it?" She kept her eyes closed as she mumbled. 

"Thank god you are okay." Yuki let out a deep sigh, "It is four in the morning."

Kitty opened her eyes and weakly looked at the two staring at her. "I only broke a singular seal. It is not like anything bad happened. I will be fine, Amaris and Berith. Thank you both for your concern. It is not like this will be the last time this happens. I do need to ask, are Leo and Ketan okay? I remember only bits and parts from yesterday."

"Both are doing well. You did a number to Leo. You brought him to the cusp of death." Rex saw the panic that filled her eyes. "But do not worry he will make a full recovery. I gave him a cigar to take the edge of the pain off. I know that is not much but it was the least I could do." 

"Ketan will be fine. I checked up on him and he was in better shape than Leo. You may have almost killed them both but it was Rex's quick decision to bind him as your guardian that saved his life. Even a bearer of the essence can die; it would be just from your hands." Yuki patted Kitty's hands. 

"I have been thinking about this for a while but I was not originally the bearer of two elements was I?" Kitty looked at the two. "My body didn't reject the water element but it was not mine, to begin with." 

"It was not yours, to begin with." Rex looked at the wall, "I will tell you about it. I think that now is the right time." 

Yuki sighed and nodded her head, "Yes, Kitsune. You are correct, there was a real water bearer in the past but he decided that it was not right to have a child that could commend him. He hated the thought and wanted to break free from it. When you were eight he tried to kill you. That was when we tried to stop him. He did not have a guardian at that time." 

"You said you were thirsty so very thirsty and we thought that it might be a good idea to bond you and Ketan at that time but Ketan did not know about you as we kept you from the twins as much as we could. That was when Demetrius said that he was willing to help you out and he was the original water bearer. At that time we had no idea that what was on his mind." Yuki sighed and looked at Rex. 

"We did not see the hunger for power that was on his mind. If we had we would not have brought him anywhere near you." Rex shook his head, "So when you two met for the first time. We thought nothing of it. He asked if he could talk to you alone and we said not yet as there was something that could go wrong. Yuki stayed and I volunteered to leave the room. I am not the current bearer so technically I do not have a say in what the present individuals do." 

"It was after Rex left the room that I noticed that something was up. Kitsune, you said straight out..." Yuki started to say this when Kitty interrupted. 

"The water in you is no longer pure the elements are going to reject you." Kitty covered her mouth. "I am sorry for interrupting. I am not sure where that came from." 

"Your mind somewhat remembers. Yes, that is what you said. He pushed me away and held you at knifepoint and I panicked. You were the one that was as calm as a button. You looked conflicted about what to do but once you saw him toss me away that was when you lost all rationally. You bit into him and drank his essence. He kept trying to tear you off, but you held on until he was unable to fight back. It was then that the runes transferred to your body one by one." Yuki shook her head. 

"This was the point that I was able to break the door down. That idiot was using his powers to keep me out. Once I got in I saw you draining his life away and I saw that Yuki was injured. I watched as the guy dropped his knife and collapsed. You did not stop until all the blood and essence was drained from the body. I will never forget that moment. When you stopped I went over and picked you up. I took you to Yuki's side and you healed her." Rex was sadly smiling.
