Being in this crowd like this had made Zuri felt truly uncomfortable, but Chaos's request was the one that caught her out of guard.
He wanted her to find his shattered soul and he insisted. He had never forced her to do anything before, thus, his persuasion left her puzzled.
Yet, that was not all, Zuri's eyes skimmed this place briefly and then landed on the bartender behind the bar. He was staring at her, as his lips moved and spoke her name.
Of course, with the distance between them and the loud music that was so defeaning, Zuri couldn't hear what he said, but she knew exactly it was her name.
Because she knew who was the man.
Nikolai.
Zuri was stunned and of course, Chaos caught the change of her demeanor. Her whole body was stiffened.
Don't come.
Don't come.
Don't come.
Zuri said it repeatedly in her heart, as if it was a spell, but then not all spell would work, not to mention this one.
From afar, Zuri could see Nikolai talked to his friend briefly, without breaking his eye contact with Zuri, as he made his way toward her.
Damn.
He shouldn't come over. Chaos would kill him.
In a split second, Zuri remembered how Chaos had killed the man, the cleaner, in her school. The last shattered soul that she told him. No, she told Knox, but he let Chaos knew to finish it.
That was the first time Zuri saw the entire process how Chaos took back his soul and she was dreaded by the sight. The fear that gripped her heart that day was still fresh even now, and to see Chaos did that to Nikolai, was the last thing that Zuri wanted, since the first time she knew Nikolai was one of the shattered souls.
"Let's go from here," Zuri mumbled, panic rushed in her blood when she saw Nikolai made his way between the crowd to reach her.
Yet, Chaos didn't budge, he sensed something and he felt her uneasiness.
"The thing that you want is not here. We need to go. I feel it in different direction," Zuri blurted out. She was at the point would say anything to make this creature moved, so they could avoid Nikolai at all cost.
In this crowd of people, Zuri knew, it was the color of her hair that was so stand out and made Nikolai recognized her in an instant. But then, who would have thought that Chaos took her to this place and Nikolai was here as well.
"Blue! Is that you?!" Nikolai shouted at Zuri to overcome the loud music around them.
They were slightly at the side, so they wouldn't bump onto people, who was moving their body crazily on the dance floor.
Zuri turned stiff, she gritted her teeth and was about to deny it, but it would only add to Chaos's suspicion. It didn't mean that he was not suspicious to her right now.
Zuri could see a calculative thought through Chaos's dark eyes. He was in a deep thought right now, trying to gauge the situation and she knew he would get it sooner or later and Nikolai would be done for.
"Blue!" Nikolai was in front of Zuri now, he looked at his girl friend from school and didn't believe that he could see her again. "I know it is you! My God!"
At this point, Zuri could see from the corner of her eyes that Chaos had finished with his calculation and he had come with a conclusion.
"I thought you were…" Nikolai didn't finish his words, he looked at Chaos, only now he realized Zuri was not alone. He wanted to talk something about her being the supernatural creature and The Hound managed to get a hold of her, since the member of the McKeltar family disappeared all of sudden.
No one knew for sure where they had gone. There were a lot of rumors about it, but none of them made any sense for Nikolai, since he knew a small chunk of their secret.
"Hai, Nikolai," Zuri said, her voice was on edge, as she was trying to act normal. "Long time no see."
Zuri's greeting sounded very formal in his ears and he frowned because of that, but before he could understand what was going on, the man, who was standing beside her had spoken first.
"This place is too loud, take us to a quite place, we need to talk." Chaos looked so callous when he spoke, but Nikolai nodded, despite his confusion.
"Come over here," he said, walking ahead from the two of them.
"So, it is him?" It was the same like before, Chaos's voice was so close to her ears, despite he was not even leaning toward Zuri to whisper those words.
"No. It is not him," Zuri seethed, but it only made thing easier and clearer for Chaos about his conclusion.
"Are you coming?" Nikolai shouted above this screaming music when he realized that neither Blue or Chaos were following him. He tilted his head, confusion was written all over his face.
"Your friend is waiting." Chaos was blind, but he didn't look so care about his current condition. He looked fine, not looked like someone that lost their sight.
"What are you going to do to him?"
But Chaos didn't entertain Zuri with any answer, as he followed the sound of Nikolai's voice to get to where he was standing. His ability to move among the crowd was unthinkable. He bumped two people on the way in this crowd, but he managed to approach Nikolai nonetheless, without any necessary delay.
No one would believe that he was sightless.
"Keep going," Chaos said in dark voice, once he was standing in front of Nikolai and the young man frowned at him, staring at Zuri, who was standing a little bit further from them.
"Is she not coming?"
"She will."
