Chapter 31 Our Classmate Zhu Xuan

“Well, I’m all right,” I mumbled and changed the subject. “It’s late. Let’s go, I don’t want to be late for the first class after returning to school.”

“Yeah, you’re right. We’re going to be late.” As expected, Su Xiaoyun stopped questioning me after my reminder. She pulled Shi Yitong and me by the hand and walked out of the dorm. “Come on, let’s move, or else the teacher will chew us out again!”

I couldn’t help but laugh. And now I was even more convinced that I should keep those secrets from them.

Unexpectedly, we arrived early to the classroom, probably because we ran on the way.

“Oh, look, didn’t you say we were going to be late? We’re actually the first ones to arrive,” Shi Yitong put his backpack on the desk and complained. “There was no need to rush. Everyone here arrives just before the class begins.”

“Who said that?” Su Xiaoyun was unconvinced. She pointed to a corner. “Isn’t there someone already here?”

I looked in the direction Su Xiaoyun pointed at, and there was indeed a student sitting there. Since this classroom was very large, and he sat in a remote corner, it was natural for us not to notice him when we first arrived.

“Who is that?” Shi Yitong muttered as he squinted his eyes in that direction. “Is he from your class?”

The person sitting in the corner looked strange. He slept on the table with his head buried in his arms. We were not sure whether he was a boy or a girl.

“I don’t think so,” whispered Su Xiaoyun as she shook her head uncertainly. “Isn’t he from your class? He looks strange to me.”

Shi Yitong shook his head. “No, he’s not. I would definitely recognize him if he was from my class.”

At this moment, the strange man lifted his head, and then I heard a familiar voice.

“I’m sorry, I haven’t introduced myself. I transferred here this morning.”

That was a familiar face. We all shouted in surprise.

“Zhu Xuan?!” ”

Zhu Xuan was lazily sitting in the corner, waving his hand to us with a smile on his face.

I quickly stepped forward and looked at him in surprise. “Why are you here?”

Su Xiaoyun and Shi Yitong had not seen Zhu Xuan since the beast Chen event, so they probably were even more surprised than me.

“It’s Zhu Xuan!” Su Xiaoyun eyes were wide open. “How can it be Zhu Xuan? Why is he here?”

“Didn’t you… um, disappear?” Shi Yitong was speechless, he waved his hands in the air. “I thought you had gone to some Neverland to live your fairy life…”

Zhu Xuan burst into laughter. He shook his head. “I’ve missed you guys so much that I decided to come back. Do I need any other reason?”

I suddenly thought about something. “Did you just say you transferred to this school?”

“Yes.” Zhu Xuan nodded sincerely. “These human procedures are really troublesome.”

“But you can’t——” I couldn’t say a word. “You can’t just transfer to another school, can you?”

“Why not?” Zhu Xuan gave me a smile. That innocent expression on his face told me that he really did not understand what he had done.

I felt my head began to ache again.

How could I explain to him that this school was part of my ‘normal world’, which generally did not have strange creatures?

For me, school life had always been what I wanted to protect. I really cherished this ordinary life after experiencing the bloodshed and violence of the outside world. I tried my best to protect it; I even hid the truth from Su Xiaoyun and Shi Yitong. However, his arrival meant that all of my efforts had gone to waste.

I grabbed Zhu Xuan by the sleeve and pulled him aside. And after making sure Su Xiaoyun and Shi Yitong couldn’t hear us, I asked him in a low voice, “Tell me, what is going on? What happened?”

Zhu Xuan was obviously playing dumb. He said, “What? What are you talking about… I don’t understand?”

This time, he really angered me. I glowered at him. “Zhu Xuan, I’m asking you a serious question! Did you find anything dangerous in my school?”

Zhu Xuan tried to ease my worries. “Ah, Gu Yu, Why can’t I come to your school if nothing happens? I was just bored, so I came to see you and at the same time, experience human life. Isn’t it a fantastic idea?”

I would be the stupidest man on Earth if I believed him.

I stared at him and asked, stressing each word, “Is it about the Jade Ruyi?”

Zhu Xun looked at me, stunned. He almost subconsciously answered, “How did you know about it?”

“I knew it!” I felt as if a heavy weight was pressed on my chest and took a deep breath as I began pacing around.

Our suspicious actions aroused Su Xiaoyun and Shi Yitong’s curiosity. Shi Yitong began to shout, “What’s the matter?”

But neither Zhu Xuan nor I answered him.

“How did you know about the Jade Ruyi?” Zhu Xuan whispered and began to suspect me.

“Wen Jiubo told me.” I was furious. “How else would I know about it? Do you expect me to take a guess?”

“I see…” Zhu Xuan muttered, pondering. “I didn’t expect him to trust you to this extent.”

His tone sounded like Wen Jiubo shouldn’t ever trust me. I got angrier and glared at him.

“You haven’t told me how you learned about its existence,” I questioned. “And what are you going to do with that thing? Tell me once again, why did you come to my school?”

Zhu Xuan opened his mouth. However, at this moment, the teacher entered the classroom. And then, students began to pour in, chatting and laughing.

“Let’s talk about it later,” Zhu Xuan whispered. “Go back to your seat and finish the class first.”

I had no choice but to suppress my anger and returned to where Su Xiaoyun and Shi Yitong sat. Of course, as soon as I returned, they looked at me curiously.

“What were you secretly talking about over there?” Shi Yitong asked.

“Nothing,” I said dryly. “He said a friend of his had hemorrhoids and asked me if I knew what to do.”

Su Xiaoyun and Shi Yitong looked at each other, stunned, but they did not say anything.

“Hi class, this is Bai Zhuxuan, and he just transferred to our school today. He will be our classmate from now on, and so everyone should take care of each other.”

I turned my head to look at Zhu Xuan. There was no particular expression on his face. He just smiled as he always did, and his smile even looked a little lazy.

He seemed completely unconcerned.
