Chapter 83 - Luther's Resentment

LYaksha jumped down from the flimsy tree branch, and landed on the sturdy ground.

He looked up at his companions who stared at him with curiousity. "Let's take a walk."

Luther frowned. "Young Master? Why?"

Diana gasped. "Could it be…do you think that SelaXiu will be forced to go to the riverside?"

Yaksha smiled. "Let us go to the burrows of the area."

Diana jumped down gracefully, a light smile on her face. "You don't't?"

Yaksha tilted his head in thought. "This area is about to be overhauled."

Diana blinked and watched him walk away from them in confusion. She shook her head and ran after him. She might not understand the situation but she trusted Yaksha enough to know that he was always right.

She ran after him.

Luther watched the two leave without waiting to see if he would follow them. Luther hurried down the tree and followed after them.

"That Frost girl…she…her skill level was too complex for it to just be a skill," Luther said, side eyeing Yaksha.

Diana looked towards him briefly before holding onto Yaksha's hand.

Yaksha laughed. "One would think that it was Crow's or even Lu WenXian's skills that were complex."

Luther blushed. "I know. It is just that…Frost's use of ice to internalise it into her limbs…"

"I did not understand anything from your muttering," Diana said with derrison.

Luther scowled at her.

Yaksha sighed. "Tell me what you want to directly. Don't play around with your words."

Luther nodded. "It is just that...I think..."

Yaksha sighed. "You think she is using her Qi Manifestion."

Luther gave him a hesitant nod.

Yaksha shook his head. "You are behind in the Other World news, Luther."

"Young Master?"

"Everyone knows that Frost is a Qi Ability user."

Luther's eyes shined. "A true blessed then. Not many people can use their real Qi Manifestations in this world."

"And yet, they still treat this world as just another VR game," Yaksha muttered.

Luther frowned. "Young Master?"

Yaksha shook his head. He turned to Diana. "Why don't you go ahead, and create an invisible base for us while I deal with Luther's blabberings."

Diana looked between the two men curiously and then left with a nod.

Yaksha stared at the place that she stood.

Luther fidgeted. "Young Master...I-"

"What is it that you really want to talk about?" Yaksha asked.

Luther cringed. He knew that his Young Master did not like to talk about the real world as much because to him it did not exist. Though he wondered how the Young Master would fullfil his ambition of discovering all about the Other World's creators, with the way that he liked to play the game.

"That she is part of...that family."

"The Xiu?" Yaksha asked.

Luther nodded. So the Young Master was aware of the growing issues of his family. This was a great sign.

Yaksha looked towards the display screen in front of him. SelaXiu ducked away from an overhead punch from Frost, escaping the ice pokes that embedded themselves deep into the stems of the trees behind her.

"I wouldn't be surprised if she was."

"Are they interested in the Other World as well?" Luther asked in a hushed voice. "Are they looking for a way to find clues about the server location of the Other World?"

Yaksha hmmed. "It is a possibility. Is there any conglomerate that is not eyeing the shares of the Other World? A game that not only connects the people of over 7 planets and 3 dwarves. I would be surpirsed if the Xiu Enterprise is not eyeing it. And there is Xiu Ru. That man is too money hungry to not give it a try."

Luther side-eyed Yaksha. "Are you not looking for that too Master?"

Yaksha jumped up a boulder. "Am I?"

Luther knitted his brows. "But The Other World is all the VR you have played in the last five years, even though most of the playerbase play multiple VR games."

Yaksha stopped and turned towards Luther. "Do you really think I am that greedy, Luther?"

Luther quickly shook his head.

Yaksha sighed. "I never cared about such things. To me, the Other World is a VR that should be enjoyed and experienced without bringing my real world conflicts and interests into the game."

"But Madam Lu said-"

"I know what grandmother said. I was there when she talked to you about it."

Luther pursed his lips. "The Madam loves you the most, Young Master."

Yaksha stared at Luther with cold eyes.

The man shivered in fright.

"And yet, all I see for her love is what she did to my moth-" Yaksha looked at the sky above him with a longing face. He shook his head to clear his thoughts. "...forget it. Let us leave. Diana would be bored and would end up killing more righteous Cultivators to vent her boredom if we left her alone for too long. I am not willing to expose my presence to these Experts as of yet."

Luther gave him a slight nod, his mind already filled with anger and the unwillingness to let the matter go.

He was not approving of Yaksha's treatment of the Madam of the Lu Household, but there was nothing he could do. He could still remember a time when the little boy of five would sit on the Old Madam's lap and listen to her stories.

Yaksha had captured the Madam's heart in a way that not even his sister was able to to, despite the fact that she was the only girl born to the family in three generations.

But after the Young Master met that woman called as his Mother, Yaksha had changed his attitude. He accused the Madam of horrible things, broke off the family chain that the Madam had remodelled for the then 13 year old, and went to live with that woman instead. Even though the woman sent the child back after only a year, Yaksha was never the same with the Madam and the Lu family, and he resented her even to the present.

Luther walked behind Yaksha in slow strides, his mind full of memories of the little boy who cried that his own father used him as a pawn and the young man who even refused to acknowledge the family that raised him as his own.

Luther's heart filled with the resentments collected over the years towards that woman.

Though he shouldn't think so, Luther hoped that the woman would die sooner so that they could have their Young Master completely away from her poisonous tongue.
