Frost looked at the girl in front of her with a blank expression. "What do you mean, cousin?"
Ren Yin grinned. "She has to serve you and stuff because she is part of the Welcoming committee!"
Cheng Xiu cleared her throat. "This is Hospice, not St. Andre's. I do not need to do anything related to the Welcoming committee here. Secondly, I am the Student Representative of the 1st year. I don't need to personally serve Miss Xiu Xue here."
Ren Yin frowned. "Are you making excuses so that you can shirk off your responsibilities? If you were just going to ignore these things, then why even bother taking on such duties? If I were you, I would do such things personally!"
Cheng Xiu stared at the brown eyes of the girl. Ren Yin frowned at the intensity of the gaze on her person. "Well, you are not me, are you? So if you are, you can have this responsibility. Don't come putting your opinion in front of people who never even asked for it."
"Sister Cheng," San Zhe called, "please don't make enemies with them."
Cheng Xiu frowned. Why was he calling her Sister Cheng instead of Sister Xiu?
She thought for a moment and realised that the woman in front of her might know of the way that San Zhe had addressed her in the game and might connect the dots.
Cheng Xiu knew there was reason to worry. Even though there were many people with the name Xiu in all the worlds, the number of people with the name Xiu, being friends with a San Zhe, and having the general aesthetics of SelaXiu was far too much of a coincidence.
She was impressed by his quick thinking. She smiled at him. "I will be careful with my words from now on."
"So you are dating that fatso then?" Ren Yin asked with a smug look. "You match well."
"Did I ask for your opinion?" Cheng Xiu asked her. "What does it matter to you who I date and don't date?"
Ren Yin frowned. "Who wants to care about your love life? It is only because big brother…"
Ren Yin bit her tongue at her slip up.
Frost's eyes widened as she realised what the girl was about to say.
Cheng Xiu looked at the green-dressed girl with suspicious eyes. "Because of Ren Dao what?"
Ren Yin pursed her lips. "It is only because brother Dao is friends with that Gu Shu that I care about anything to do with you!"
Cheng Xiu rolled her eyes. "whatever. Anyway, Miss Xiu Xue?"
Frost looked at her with curious eyes.
Cheng Xiu nodded her head. "It was…interesting to meet you. Bye."
"I hope you get well soon," Frost said with a small smile. "I would like to know more about St Andre nad its Technosphere."
Cheng Xiu tilted her head. "You can ask the third and fourth years for that. I am relatively new, and my knowledge might not be enough. Or…I can contact some of the senior representatives to get you to the Technosphere."
Frost shook her head. "I want to know your opinion."
Cheng Xiu looked at the girl curiously. "I might have to stay in the hospital for a few days. You can get to know much about the Technosphere in that time."
"I can wait," Frost said. "Get well soon."
Cheng Xiu looked at the woman in confusion and then left with San Zhe.
"Did you find it weird that the woman's attitude seemed to have turned a bit warmer after Ren Dao's name was uttered? What do you think that was about?" Cheng Xiu asked him.
San Zhe shrugged. "These kinds of things are not my forte. Women in general are not my forte. Did you notice that it was Immoral-"
"Impossible to get rid of Ren Yin? Yes. It was very annoying."
San Zhe looked at her in confusion and then his eyes widened. Right. Those with Qi tended to have a superior hearing.
San Zhe gave her a nod of understanding.
Cheng Xiu smiled and the two walked off towards her ward again.
In the garden, Ren Yin looked at Frost in confusion. "Why were you so nice to her at the end there?"
Frost smiled. "Ren Dao likes her, yes?"
Ren Yin gritted her teeth. "She is a Qiless."
"And yet she is the Student Representative instead of you," Frost said in a monotone. "That says something about her, correct?"
Ren Yin shrugged. "She only got that position because she was the top scorer of this year's Alliance Exam."
Frost froze. "She is?"
Ren Yin nodded, unaware of the thoughts that she just put in her cousin's head.
"Her name is Cheng Xiu then?" Frost asked, a cool glint in her eyes.
Ren Yin nodded and then looked at the taller woman in surprise. "How did you know that?"
Frost looked at Ren Yin with a smile. "Everyone knows the name of the First Ranker."
"I am sure she cheated somehow," Ren Yin said, her voice filled with jealousy. "How can a Qiless get more marks than a person with Qi?"
Frost looked towards the path that Cheng Xiu walked on. "Then how can a Qiless outdo the officials of the Alliance, who are all people with Qi?"
Ren Yin pouted. "You are only taking her side because brother Dao likes her. He is only interested in her because she is a bit different to the usual hags he sniffs after. Once he gets her, he will lose his interest."
Frost shook her head. "And why do you think that Little Dao would get her?"
"Because he always gets the girl," Ren Yin said crinkling her nose. "She would be lucky for the amount of time that he is interested in her."
Frost stared at Ren Yin for a moment. "Why don't we go eat breakfast?"
Ren Yin looked at her with sparkling eyes. "Scrambled eggs with tomatoes, and pita bread?"
Frost nodded.
Ren Yin agreed and the two cousins started to walk away, Ren Yin's two 'friends' walking behind the two like bodyguards.
Frost's eyes travelled to the path Cheng Xiu disappeared to for the last time.
We meet again, she thought with a smile.. SelaXiu.
