San Zhe squeezed his eyes shut, waiting for the pain to descend with closed eyes.
He felt a small incision on the curve of his neck.
San Zhe took a deep breath, holding back tears.
The wait on him suddenly disappeared and the pain in his neck decreased.
San Zhe blinked open his eyes to find the seductive woman standing at the far end of the room. Her shoulder was pierced by a lone red blade that had intricate designs carved on it.
Even though he had seen the sword many times before, this was the first time that he was finding it as beautiful as he did today. Its etchings were beautiful, its colouring was extraordinary. It looked like a God Weapon. No. It was a God Weapon.
San Zhe's eyes travelled towards the door of the room.
A beautiful woman took slow steps into the room, her sword held diagonal to her chest. She had the fairest skin that he had ever seen, with beautiful pink lips. The martial robe that she wore should be made of the finest materials as the clothing looked that it was made by the gods themselves just for her.
Her hair was long and pitch black, and they fluttered in the wind.
"Sister Xiu!" he called out to the goddess who had come to save him.
Enchanting Phoenix eyes looked at him for a brief moment.
San Zhe felt his heart melt. "You are so handsome! I love you! I will give my everything to you!"
Cheng Xiu frowned. She looked towards the NPC who had released herself from the wall and threw away her sword to the floor.
The sword that was thrown away disappeared with a flash.
"What did you do to him!" Cheng Xiu asked with a frown.
"I did a few things," the NPC said with a light laugh, "and I would have done a few more things if you were a few seconds late."
Cheng Xiu glared. "Did you put him in some kind of illusion?"
San Zhe blinked. "Huh?"
Cheng Xiu sighed. She gave him a compassionate look. "It is okay, Brother San, this woman is at fault for what you did."
"Huh? Why? What did I do?"
Cheng Xiu shook her head. "You called me handsome, and said you loved me."
San Zhe blushed in embarrassment immediately. "Oh…that…"
The NPC laughed. "Now that is not something that I did."
Cheng Xiu glared. "Don't lie to me."
"It is not something that I did."
Cheng Xiu gave her a hesitant look and then looked towards San Zhe.
San Zhe gave her a soft smile that looked more like a grimace.
"What do you want to do with brother San?" Cheng Xiu asked. "Why did you kidnap him? If it is because he crouched on your territory, then we are sorry for that."
The NPC rolled her eyes. "You talk too much."
Cheng Xiu blinked. And then she thought of the words she just said. She had thought too much. Even though the Other World is a VR, it was still a game. An NPC kidnapping a Player was normal. There was no particular reason for it other than the fact that the player is "Food". The fact that she was trying to reason with the woman about something like that was like a human trying to argue with a wild beast not to eat meat. It was simply not done.
The NPC released a whip in her hand.
Cheng Xiu's eyes widened as she looked at the lightning whip in the woman's grip.
It was a very familiar weapon.
"Do you know an Immortal named Lotus?" Cheng Xiu found herself asking.
The NPC whipped the weapon at her.
Cheng Xiu lunged to the side, reaching San Zhe within a few steps.
The lightning Whip hit the wooden floor instead and the timber cracked into many pieces, flying in different directions.
Cheng Xiu shivered. Even though she knew the danger that the weapon in the NPC's hand could cause from the fight that she had with the Expert, it was still a great psychological stimulation to see the damage happening again.
Cheng Xiu had hoped in some ways to not face these weapons so soon. The fact that she had to face it, and that it was in the hands of an NPC who seemed to know what they were doing made Cheng Xiu want to curse her luck. Why was she the one who always had to fight these kinds of enemies? Why couldn't she just fight normal enemies that were at her level and be done with it?
Why was she forced to fight with enemies with a question mark as their level? Why?
The whip came towards her and San Zhe at great speed.
Cheng Xiu grabbed San Zhe's hand.
She forced him to fall to the ground and fell to the ground herself.
The whip hit another wall of the treehouse.
"Why is she able to use lightning?" San Zhe said with a grievance in his voice. "Since when are creature NPCs able to use magic indiscriminately?"
Cheng Xiu dragged San Zhe to his feet and dragged him along as she ran towards the door.
The whip cracked behind them.
Cheng Xiu fell to the ground on her back.
San Zhe moved to the side.
The whip barely touched his hand and felt behind a small whip mark.
Cheng Xiu leapt to her feet.
She dashed towards San Zhe.
She grabbed his hands as the whip cracked again.
She dragged him out of the door.
The whip hit the doorframe instead and broke off the wood.
Cheng Xiu did not turn back and started to jump from one branch of the large tree to another.
San Zhe blinked, stared and then kept staring at Cheng Xiu's agile movements in a daze.
Cheng Xiu realised that her companion was not with her at that moment.
She looked up to find him sitting in the corner.
The NPC had come out and was grinning at San Zhe's crouched form.
The seductress walked towards the man in the blue robes in slow strides.
Cheng Xiu created a sword copy and had it go to attack the whip-holding NPC again.
