Chapter 147 - Yaksha's Hold

Cheng Xiu felt her entire body freeze at that moment. The entire area around her froze with her.

A figure in a black robe and golden mask appeared beofre her, his long hair flying in the wind.

Cheng Xiu blinked. "Yaksha."

Yaksha raised his hands and intertwined their fingures together.

Cheng Xiu's mind froze along with her body.

The place where their fingers touched a warm glow emerged as Yaksha sent waves of Qi in to her veins.

The sparks of black flame that had emerged in the palm of her hands got snuffed out.

Her heart thumped against her ribcage as she stared at the hand that held hers. It was pale and broad, and the fingers were long. If the man had not specifically changed his appearance of the appendage, then Cheng Xiu had to admit that he had beautiful hands.

She could feel the warmth of his hands even after the glow had disappered.

Was her hands always so cold?

Cheng Xiu could feel blood rush to her ears. All of a sudden she could not look him in the eyes.

Cheng Xiu darted her eyes about to avoid looking at him and her eyes fell on the still figure of San Zhe who was inches away from being bitten by the woman again.

Cheng Xiu frowned.

She turned to face Yaksha and glared him in the eyes. "What the hell, Yaksha!"

She was able to use her voice.

Cheng Xiu tried to shake off his hands form hers.

Yaksha reluctantly let her go, his hands falling to his sides. His fingers twitched in small movements in regret.

"I am sorry for grabbing you like that with out your consent," Yaksha said with a small bow of his head.

Cheng Xiu felt lost for words for a few moments. Her face flushed. "That…that is not what I was ta-talking about. I-it is just holding, I mean, grabbing hands, don't make it so d-dra-dramatic."

Yaksha nodded. "Even so, I did it without preamble. Sorry."

Cheng Xiu brushed his words off. "That is not the issue here! Why did you stop me from using the Ghost Flame? And how did you do it! I have always thought that the Ghost Flame could not be countered without…without special attrifacts."

Yaksha stared at her for a moment. "How much of your Qi does the Ghost Flame spell take from you?"

Cheng Xiu frowned. "What are you talking about?"

"As for how I snuffed out the Ghost Flame…that is a trade secret," Yaksha said. His voice sounded teasing.

Cheng Xiu, unfortunately, did not feel teased. She glared at the man before her in anger. "Explain what you meant by the amount of Qi I use for Ghost Flame?"

"Do you trust me?" Yaksha asked her instead.

Cehng Xiu glared. "What?"

"Do you trust me?"

"No."

Yaksha stared at her in the eyes for a moment.

Cheng Xiu started to feel uncomfortable with his gaze and looked away.

Cheng Xiu's eyes found an even more bizzar image than San Zhe being bitten by that woman.

At the bottom of the tree was a Tablo of Ren Dao and his team being entangled completely in vines.

"They were snooping," Yaksha said.

Cheng Xiu blinked. The tone of his words made it seem like he was the reason that these people ended up the way that they did.

Cheng Xiu's feelings were complicated at that moment. She was happy that Ren Dao was the person who got into that kind of trouble but also felt a bit pity for him for his predicament.

"SelaXiu," Yaksha called.

Cheng Xiu blinked up at him.

"Please log out."

Cheng xiu frowned. "Why?"

"You know why."

"I don't actually. Why don't you enlighten me?"

"You have just gotten out of a critical condition that involves Deep Dive. Your mind is far too agitated," Yaksha said. "And no matter how much you wish to continue you can not."

"You can not order me."

"I am not ordering. Think of this not from the percepective of San Zhe's friend, but from the percepective of a player with your conditions."

Chng Xiu gritted her teeth.

"Your face tells me you know what I mean."

Cheng Xiu sighed. She nodded. "But San Zhe-"

"Despite how real everything may seem or feel," Yaksha said to her, "This is still a VR. Death in the game will not lead to his actual death. He will just respawn at his resurection point."

Cheng Xiu shook her head. "I know that. It is not Death that I am scared about. He doesn't want to be violated in the game. I need to make sure that he is safe at that point."

Yaksha tilted his head. "The Other World will not allow that kind of a thing to be witnessed or happen to a Player. San Zhe is safe."

Cheng Xiu frowned. "Really?"

"Yes. There are some things that the game keeps away from the players."

Cheng Xiu looked at the talbo above her again. "That NPC. She seemed to excersice some kind of mind control on San Zhe after I first rescued him. I think it has to do with the biting she does."

"She is a half-breed," Yaksha explained.

Cheng Xiu looked towards him curiously. "What?"

"The NPC is called as Claris. A Vampire-cursed Spider Hybrid who has gained a human form through cultivation. She is a famous Boss in one of the dungeons of the Western Continent."

Cheng Xiu was surprised. "A dungeon Boss? What is she doing here?"

Yaksha shook his head. "The dungeon Boss is still there, forever cursed to stay in the montains of the West for the crime of Kin-killing. The one here is Claris, but the run down version…or the weaker version in friendlier terms."

Cheng Xiu frowned. "What does it mean for her to bite San Zhe? What is her plan?"

Yaksha smiled. "Who knows. But you are right, we should not let San Zhe suffer at the hands of such an NPC. I will help San Zhe in your stead. Would you please consider Loging off?"

Cheng Xiu pursed her lips. "You will save him?"

"I promise."

"Thank you."

Yaksha nodded.

He snapped his finger and the world returned to normal.

Yaksha flicked his wrist to the side, and sent the NPC into the house again.

With another movement from him the door closed.

Cheng Xiu smiled as she saw San Zhe get out of his daze.

Yaksha gave her a look.

Cheng Xiu nodded her head and left with a flash of light.
