Chapter 150 - Timely Interruptions

Cheng Xiu glared at the man with blue hair. Damned man.

"A'Xiu-"

"Please, Senior Ren Dao, call me Cheng Xiu. We are not friends or in any relationship where it would be appropriate for you to call me as such."

Ren Dao's hands tightened into a fist at her words. Damned Qiless woman should feel honoured that he was even willing to talk to her! Why did he have to like this weakling?

Cheng Xiu was not able to guess the emotions that were flittering through his face nor did she want to guess. From the brief contempt that she was able to see in his eyes, she was sure that he had thought of her status as a Qiless to make himself feel good. Sometimes, humans were predictable like that.

Gu Shu looked at the two people in uncertainty. She could see from Cheng Xiu's responses how much the senior's presence was annoying her but she could also see how indulgent brother Dao was towards her friend.

"Cheng Xiu," Ren Dao corrected himself. "I heard that you met my cousin Xue?"

Cheng Xiu blinked. "Yes?"

"What do you think of her?"

"I am not interested in such things."

"Huh?" Ren Dao looked at her in confusion, not able to get her meaning immediately. When he did, Ren Dao blushed. "That is not what I meant. I meant, do you consider her a nice person?"

"Nice?" Cheng Xiu considered his words. Immortal Frost was someone that she would put in the 'Nice' category. She would put the expert in the 'Arrogantly intelligent' part along with herself. "I think that Ex-…Xiu Xue is a very intelligent woman. Was there something you wanted to say?"

"Yes," Ren Dao said to her.

Gu Shu's heart twinged in pain. She could see where this was going already. He was going to ask her to be his girlfriend.

"Would you consider-"

"Are you going to help us with the upcoming events too?" Cheng Xiu asked. "I heard that The Other World is going to hold a special function next Sunday. I could not get the details on why the events were happening."

"Nobody knows much," Ren Dao said, "Though there are some rumours that it is the Alliance E-Sports special events. I mean, there are so many professionals, right? They need to eliminate a lot of players before the Live-Action gathering."

Cheng Xiu nodded in understanding.

"As I was saying-"

"I did go into the game for some time," cheng Xiu said, "But I overstayed my welcome and became hospitalized."

"How are you now?" Ren Dao asked with concern in his voice.

Cheng Xiu's eyes narrowed. "I am fine now. Just a few days more of rest."

"You should take care of yourself."

"Mm."

"Cheng Xiu, I will be upfront with you. Will you be m-"

Someone knocked on the door.

Gu Shu started and opened the door.

San Zhe poked his head into the room. He saw Cheng Xiu lying in the bed instead of standing up.

His heart filled with worry, San Zhe ignored Gu Shu who was looking at him incredulously and failed to notice that Ren Dao was sitting at the head of her bed.

"Sister Xiu!" San Zhe said in worry as he ran towards her. "Why are you still in bed? Is everything alright? Does your head hurt? Let us take you to the Hospice!"

Cheng Xiu's face softened and a grin overtook her blank expression from earlier as she heard the words of concern from him.

"Brother San, I am fine!" Cheng Xiu said with a laugh.

Those who watched her were dazed for a moment.

Cheng Xiu was beautiful. There was no denying that. But when she laughed she transformed into a goddess.

Her smile, with the dimple on one of her cheeks, were so contagious that San Zhe smiled completely with her. "That is great to hear."

Gu Shu looked at their interactions with a stuffy heart. She was my best friend here! Why was he being given that kind of smile? Were they dating? She refused to believe that they were just friends because even though they were best friends she had never seen Cheng Xiu look at her in that fond and indulgent way she did at that fat man.

"Who are you?" a gruff voice asked, interrupting San Zhe who was about to tell her what had happened.

San Zhe looked back at him and was shocked. Was that Ren Dao? When did he get here?

Ren Dao glared at the newcomer, overcome with jealousy. "I did not realise that Cheng Xiu had a boyfriend."

"I was not aware that I had to make you realise such things," Cheng Xiu said in a biting tone. The soft look she gave San Zhe was replaced by a cold, bottomless abyss that was her black eyes.

Gu Shu felt concerned for her friend. "A'Xiu, don't be rude."

Even though Brother Dao liked her, he was still Blessed. If he got offended, then Cheng Xiu's way to success would be short-lived.

Cheng Xiu, unfortunately, did not see her interference as a good thing. Rather, she saw it as her being offended on Ren Dao's behalf.

Cheng Xiu couldn't be blamed for her assumption though as all of Gu Shu's previous reprimands were because Cheng Xiu had insulted Ren Dao in one way or the other. It was surprising how many times Cheng Xiu had done that as the college had started only a few months back.

"Whatever," Cheng Xiu said.

Ren Dao scowled and opened his mouth to say a few harsh words to Cheng Xiu only for him to be interrupted by a horrible ringtone.

Cheng Xiu blinked and stared at San Zhe.

The rotund man blushed. "Sorry."

He took out his Fold device, an old model set and saw who was contacting him.

Ren Dao looked at the old battered Fold in San Zhe hand in disdain. A poor senior man, Qiless and with no status. Cheng Xiu's friends were all people like her appearance. When they started dating he would have to forbid her from contacting the Qiless Loser.

San Zhe's eyes widened as he saw the name on the Fold. The calls were done through the internet now so there was no need to share mobile numbers. They just needed a stable connection and a link to the profile of the other party.

[Lord Yaksha.]

San Zhe stared for a moment.. A legend was contacting him. What should he do?
