Chapter 202 - Transform!

San Zhe swept the trident at the rat.

A jet spray of water came his way.

San Zhe dodged to the side and attacked the rat's mid section.

The fire of the trident touched the rat's exposed skin at the side, creating a sizzling sound.

Cheng Xiu frowned. That was not the sound of burnt skin. It was the sound that water made when it hit a hot pan.

San Zhe's thoughts were along those lines as well and he stepped back just in time to avoid an attack to his side. He pressed on of the maroon stones that were embedded on the staff of the trident, releasing a spray of fire.

The fire engulfed the rat and burned away its clothes.

The fire started to burn the skin of the rat counsellor.

The scent of burnt flesh filled the room.

Cheng Xiu wrinkled her nose. Though the smell was just that meat she couldn't help thinking about the amount of pain that the rat counsellor was probably in. She was surprised that the rat did not cry in pain from it.

But perhaps that was the specialty of this monster?

The Rat counsellor waved its hand.

A row of Wooden Torches holding the red flames appeared in a row in front of it.

Another wave of the rat's hand saw the red flames leave their Torch handles and floated to surround the counsellor.

Cheng Xiu felt a fleeting anxiousness in her heart though she could not be sure what the reason for that was.

Her eyes went to the three objects that were hiding behind her calf.

Though they did not have any facial features on them, Cheng Xiu thought she could feel the horror that was wafting through their body.

There was another sizzling sound.

Cheng Xiu raised her eyes just in time to see the Rat counsellor eat the flames one by one.

The wounds on the creature started to heal.

Cheng Xiu's mind felt numb. There were no thoughts in it at that moment.

Her eyes went to the Wooden Torches and she could see that the blood content in the ones which had their flames eaten by the rat had disappeared.

The rat ate away those life sources through the flames.

Cheng Xiu's eyes glinted. Monster. It lived up to its name as a monster.

"Don't let it eat all the flames!" Cheng Xiu shouted at San Zhe as she pulled out her Red Carp Sword.

The sword vibrated in her hand, almost like it was echoing the feelings that she was experiencing herself.

Yaksha's eyes went to the sword for a brief moment. That must have a conscious soul in it.

Cheng Xiu was agitated.

San Zhe heard the panic in Cheng Xiu's voice. Though he did not know the exact reason for it, he realised that he could not let the monster eat even a single flame more.

San Zhe attacked the rat vigorously.

The rat tried to eat the fourth flame despite the obstruction.

Cheng Xiu sent out a sword copy.

Yaksha frowned. "He said-"

"I don't care," she said through gritted teeth.

"What happened?" He asked her.

"I…don't know. We can't let him eat the flames though. Everything would be bad if we do!"

Yaksha nodded. He realised that Cheng Xiu's instincts were at here and that it might be related to the missing memories. Though he could not participate in this game according to San Zhe because of the promise that he made to them, he could still guide them.

"Release all the Flames in storage except for the three at the spikes," he said to San Zhe.

San Zhe realised what the expert wanted. It was not that he had not thought of this solution before. It was just that…

"It is too risky," San Zhe said as he was barely able to get away from a overhead shot by the rat.

The fourth flame was consumed. There were only three left.

"These are the most important," the Rat counsellor said with a laugh, his eyes locked onto the place at Cheng Xiu's feet. At the three objects who hid behind her legs.

"Do it now!" Cheng Xiu said, creating the Ghost Flame in her palm for a just in case kind of a situation.

Whatever the cause, she would not let even a one more flame to be consumed.

San Zhe sent Qi into five of the stones simultaneously and attacked the creature.

The flame that was created seemed to resemble the hell's inferno that they would see in movies and pictures.

The rat started to scream in pain and it used its jets on itself to extinguish the fire, which was hard to do and there was no result at all.

And that was the biggest drawback of the borrowed power of the Rat Counsellor. It did not allow for flexibility.

San Zhe ran to the opposite wall and catapulted himself to the other side of the room. The trident aimed at the heart of the beast.

He activated the three stones at the spikes of the trident.

The entire trident became something made of fire, the metal under it becoming invisible.

San Zhe's hands started to blister but he did not give it any mind as the trident pierced into the heart of the Rat Counsellor.

Fire burst out from the mouth, ears and nose of the creature, burning a bit of San Zhe's side as well.

The flame dissipated after a while.

San Zhe fell to his knees, groaning at the pain that he felt. His pain setting was at 60%, which was already higher than most people and he still felt too much pain from the burns.

"Brother San," Cheng Xiu called, panic and concern in her voice.

San Zhe let out a pain filled chuckle. "I am fine. Really."

He took out a bottle of blue liquid from his storage ring.

Cheng Xiu's eyes widened in understanding. She had seen this bottle once before. It was his stash of Healing Potion!

San Zhe took it in a gulp.

The body glowed and the wounds were healed.

Cheng Xiu sighed in relief. "How are you feeling?"

San Zhe shrugged, not showing the after effect that the pain of being burnt had left him in. "Fine."

"We are Free!" a voice cried from behind them.

Cheng Xiu looked over to see the little silver Fork jump towards them in exitement.

"You!" the Fork said, its spikes pointed to San Zhe. "Thank you! Really!"

San Zhe was confused. What did he do? "Was that Rat Counsellor a really corrupt one?"

The Fork's spikes went up and down in an imitation of a nod.

"Then I am glad that I could help you?"

[Ding]

The three players looked up subconsciously.

Personification Ended.]

Cheng Xiu looked the three objects by her side at the word 'Personification.'

Sure enough, the Red Flame disappeared and reappeared near the three objects.

They started to back away.

"Don't run," Cheng Xiu said to them. "They are your ticket to freedom."

The Fork started to jump towards the flame in front of it at her words but was stopped by the Spoon who stood in front of it.

"Brother?"

"You are too stupid," the Spoon said to it. "Always being too bold and provoking things. Then you will come crying to me to fix it for you. So let us just skip that step today. I will go first."

Cheng Xiu smirked behind the mask. She guessed that the Spoon just wanted to make sure that it was safe before the Fork was hurt.

The Spoon jumped into the Red Flame in front of it before the Fork could object.

The fire flared and rose to the ceiling of the room.

The fire started to take the shape of a human.

When the flames disappeared, a boy stood in front of them. He had white hair, and grey eyes and looked to be about 15 years old. He wore a silver old western style military uniform, with a shield in his hand.

The Fork got excited at seeing the Transformation and jumped into the fire of its own.

The effects were the exact same as the first boy's and another boy stood in the place of the fire. This time, he looked no more than 12 years old at most. He did not seemed to have even entered Adolescence yet. He too wore a silver white military uniform, and held a trident in his hand. His Grey eyes held warmth and excitement and he let out a warm laugh that would make any one who heard it want to laugh with him.

"Thank you, big Brother!" the little boy said to San Zhe. He raised his own silver trident. "Look! I have a trident in my hand too! I will be even better than you buy the time that I am your age!"

San Zhe sweatdropped. This weird child was really overly excited.

There was a burst of flame next to the little boy, scaring him. He hid behind the 15 year old, and peeked at the Wooden Torch who was slowly transforming.

A girl in a brown dress stood in front of them. She had an ordinary countenance, but the eyes that looked at them all were hard and confident. She looked to be about 14 years.

"Thank you for your help," she said. Her tone was even and proud.

Cheng Xiu sighed. Out of all of them, this little girl was the only one that contradicted the image she had in her mind. She was expecting a shy girl with a naughty smile on her face, not the confident child in front of them.

"We will help you recover your memories," the girl declared.

The boys nodded. "Yes.. We will."
