71 Doing Nothing Is Boring

A week have passed and the fourth product of SNN was finally stabilized.

Amber received a long nagging from Leslie after she returned. She could only apologize and now they are once again facing their problem.

They needed a competent vice president and secretary.

Just as the two of them was about to sigh, Reina beat them to it.

The two of them together with Mikaela looked at her as she dejectedly placed her lunch on top of the table.

"What is it? You look like it's the end of the world," Mikaela asked her.

Reina pursed her lips as if thinking whether to tell them or not.

"Well, my brother was unjustly told to resign from the company he was working for, for three years now."

"Why?"

"The daughter of the CEO have graduated and she needs the job."

Reina slammed her fist on the table, "They even dared to sugar coat everything. In the end, it was such an underhanded reason."

Amber and Leslie slowly looked at each other and their eyes had the same glint on them.

"If I remember correctly, your brother was a secretary, right?" Leslie slowly asked.

"Hmmm, yes he was. Now he was feeling down, secretarial positions aren't that many after all," Reina sighed as she played with her food.

Her brother was a righteous person and he was diligent, who would have thought that he will lose his job because of such reason.

"If I remember correctly SNN is looking for a secretary," Amber seriously said but hidden beneath it was excitement.

If they can hire an already experienced one and the way they heard of him, he was someone who does his work in an honest manner. Then that would be great for them.

"SNN? The SNN Beginnings?" Reina asked in wonder.

SNN was quite popular for a while now because of their products that was completely at a higher level. At the same time, the way that they were able to release four products in half a year.

So even though it was a newly established company, it was already considered as a good competitor to the other technological companies.

And despite it being new, it somehow has a strong foundation. The schools they targetted as their first customers was able to give a very good feedback.

The smaller companies that was next to the schools raised a few problems, obviously some of them were payed to do so, but was made to shut up by how the products were made almost in perfection.

Even the most nitpicky ones couldn't really find problems. If there are any, the company itself was able to find it before the customers could find it.

SNN became well known in the country because of that.

"Yes, I heard it was quite urgent as well," Amber added.

Leslie left it to her, if she butt in as well, Reina and Mikaela would find it weird.

"How did you know that?" Reina asked curiously.

Amber shrugged, "Ashton and the others informed me."

Mikaela and Reina nodded in understanding, that is indeed quite right. She has a close relationship from those three.

"Do you think your brother would like to try? SNN is still a new company after all but if he wants, then I can ask Ashton and the others to help pass his resume," Amber added.

"But, don't you think that is a bit too much? It's like a backdoor dealing," Reina was skeptical at this sudden opportunity.

"Not really, since it was not a public matter, therefore those who knew and who knows other people that needed it could go for the interview. So those who will pass their resume's will be in the same manner as your brother."

'Please just accept it, no matter what kind of dealing, let it be under the table or backdoor. We really need a secretary,' she added in her head.

But her face has no change at all, it was still nonchalant as if this was really something not connected to her.

Leslie on the other hand, felt like Amber could pass as an actor.

'She can actually speak like this matter was not connected to her, I'm amazed.'

"Why don't you tell your brother? There's nothing to lose, the opportunity was already here anyway," Mikaela then chimed in.

'Yes, yes, go on and persuade her,' Amber thought as she nodded solemnly.

"Give me a moment, I'll call him now," Reina stood up and went to a corner of the canteen.

Amber opened her palm under the table and Leslie who was beside her gave her a soft clap. The two of them were acting like they have already closed a deal.

A few minutes later, Reina returned to their table with a smile, "He was also skeptical at first but after I explained what you have said he agreed. He will be sending me his resume in a moment then I can give it to you."

Reina looked at Amber embarrassedly, "I'll leave it to you then."

"Don't worry, it's a small matter," Amber waved her hand and acted nonchalantly.

'Secretary, check. We only need to find a vice president now.'

"You seem happy," Blake asked as he and Devon entered the office.

Amber was humming on the sofa as she look at her laptop.

"We found a very capable secretary. We have one less problem now," she happily replied as she showed them the resume.

"Matt Edwards, 25 years old... 3 years working..."

Devon started reading it before he returned it to Amber with a nod, "He seemed good enough. But seriously why don't you just leave those two in their position?"

They were actually telling her that the current vice president and secretary could stay. But she declined it straight away.

"I already told you, the company must stand on its own. If I still have your help until it became big then it was not something I made."

"Well, since that's what you want we can only respect that."

"Anyway, this is a small country, was it alright for you to have three of your university years here and the last two in your country?" this was a question she had been thinking for a while now.

"It doesn't matter, we have already excelled on our own respective fields. University is just a certificate to us. Plus it would be too boring if we stayed here for so long and didn't do anything at all," Blake replied.

Amber nodded, he had a point. Even she asked for additional work from Ashton after entering the school, it seems all of them have almost the same frame of mind.

Doing nothing is boring.

Amber then started explaining to them how she got a resume, "So I will still need your vice president and secretary. They can help me build a thought that it was indeed an urgent but silent hiring."

"This is what you get for acting all mysterious. Now you are having difficulties hiring your own people," Devon teased her.

"I am still young after all, if they knew of this all of them would think that I am easy to bully. The world is big, I am but a fragile young lady."

The whole office turned silent, even Ashton who was typing moments ago stopped after what she said.

Seeing their disbelieving look, Amber puffed her cheeks, "Fine, fine, fine, you guys are the biggest bullies after all. Anyway you have to seriously test him."

"Despite us the ones who extended our hands, the personnel should still be competent enough," she then waved her hand and said seriously.

"Hey are you belittling us? Who was it that hired all those working at your company?" Devon retorted.

"The great sir Devon Parker," Amber grinned and replied.

Devon could only shake his head.

"That's right. Before I was only planning on staying here until my third year but so many things happened and my first plans deviated tremendously. So I will graduate from this university before following behind all of you."

"Still about you making an identity for Amber Wood?" Blake asked.

Amber nodded, "Since I already have a lot of helpers, including Hayley and Alissa who left earlier. I thought that stabilizing my company in this country is better. Atleast by the time I expand, its foundation would be far stronger."

"Then I suppose, we'll get to see you again in another four years?"

"I guess that would be the case. I wonder if by that time you will already have your girlfriends?" she teasingly asked after sipping from her cup of coffee.

"Hey, we would still be young by then. Enjoyment is still the best for us bachelors at that age," Blake replied back with a smile.

"Ho ho, I wonder if you will ever get a girlfriend for that laid back attitude of yours."

"Are you belittling my manliness?"

"Where? I really couldn't see it though."

"You-"

Ashton and Devon could only shake their heads on the side. Blake is acting like he was of the same age as Amber.

But for the four of them, who have taken up so much responsibilities at such a young age, they found these little moments the best way of enjoyment and relaxation.

They could act with no care of the world.
