144 Guess That's Just My Character

She then realized something after saying this.

"No wonder she looked like she was not shock because of my face but instead to something else," she commented just as their orders were served.

"Why don't you join us?" Amber said to Gee Anne who served their order.

She was actually a year older than Gee Anne.

Gee Anne was first stunned before she followed.

"So you actually knew me, the reason behind your shock," Amber smiled at her.

Gee Anne nodded.

"Don't you like me as a person?" Amber once again asked seeing as Gee Anne could no longer look her in the eye.

"No!! It's not like that," she replied.

"Then, don't you like me for him? Among his cousins you are the only one I haven't met since you came here for training," Amber commented.

She didn't feel shy or anything towards his family anymore after she became very much sure that she wanted to marry him. She even find it amusing to speak with them.

Ouch," she exclaimed when Jake suddenly smacked her in the head.

"Don't go scaring our talent, will you?" he reprimanded her.

"I am not, I just want to get to know her. I have heard it was you who wanted to delay your debut?" she retorted before asking Gee Anne.

"Oh uhmmm I just don't feel like I was good enough for it yet," Gee Anne started easing up after seeing how the two of them interacted with one another.

"But the way I heard it a while ago, you seemed to be quite ready enough already," Amber commented.

"I also thought that way back then but a lot happened that made me realize that I was not yet ready enough," Gee Anne replied honestly.

After that she excused herself.

"You know her? Other than seeing her profile?" Jake France asked.

"Hmmm? Oh, she was one of Ashton's cousins. But just like his sister Ashley, she seemed to have an interest on an entirely different thing than their family's business."

Amber explained as she drank from her cup.

Jake nodded but just as he was about to speak again her phone rang.

"Hello?"

"WHERE IN THE WORLD ARE YOU?!?! DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG WE'VE BEEN WAITING HERE FOR YOU??"

She instantly pushed her phone away from her ear when Alissa suddenly shouted at her.

"Calm down will you," she said amusedly before checking on her watch.

"You guys seemed to be enjoying your talks so I thought I shouldn't disturb you and left, oh and thank you for bringing my things home."

"You really!! What am I your slave? And what do you mean enjoying? We were waiting for you, do you expect us to just sit down?" Alissa rolled her eyes as she retorted.

Both she and Timothy are standing outside the restaurant and it was already 6 in the afternoon.

When she asked some of the service crews, they told her that she left for a while now.

"Tsk tsk tsk, if you weren't enjoying your talk then you would have noticed that I was gone thirty minutes later, yet you only noticed now? It's been an hour and a half," Amber replied with laugh.

Alissa didn't know whether to just get mad or to cry instead.

Timothy seeing her exasperated look could only massage his temple.

He then took out his phone to make a call.

"Why do you have to make me baby sit your fiance? She's a real handful," he complained instantly.

On the other side he heard a chuckle.

"What are you laughing about?"

"Have you not noticed? You weren't like this before, always so quiet and a loner. Keeping everything to yourself, yet here you are complaining about the smallest things," Ashton answered.

Timothy thought back and realized that he was indeed right, back then he would rather keep quiet and ignore the person but now…

"I already told you, she's a peculiar one," Ashton added.

Timothy sighed.

"I will not care if she do this again, I am giving you an advance warning," he said before hanging up.

Ashton had a smile on, "I don't think you would be able to ignore her though. Unconsciously your blood as her brother will kick in and you would be a busy body towards her."

A knock was heard and Cedric came in, "Young master, the meeting is about to start."

"Let's go then."

Today he will have to make the other elders or known as shareholders believe that he was still capable on being an heir.

Just as he stood up he heard his phone beep.

FROM: Thalie >>> I won't wish you luck. I know you can do it. I'll wait for your good news. <<<

He smiled before walking out of the office returning to his serious look.

After receiving a call, Amber sent Ashton a message, she knew the meeting will be at 7 in the evening.

"You seemed to be having fun, what did you do to Alissa?" Jake asked after seeing her happy look.

"Oh well she wants to use her degree and I found one for her, I left her with him just now," she said nonchalantly.

"What?!!" Jake stood up.

"Come on, why do all of you love shouting?" she asked as she covered her ears.

"You left her with a stranger!! Who wouldn't react violently on that?" Jake retorted.

"Relax, I know the person so she was not in bad hands," Amber waved her hand.

"Who was it then? What kind of broadcasting company? You do know she has quite some schedule right?" Jake finally sat down and asked.

"Well, you have to help her adjust her schedule, she might have to have a day work at the broadcasting company," Amber put down her cup and said.

"You have to tell me first who it was that would look after her, she is a very important talent to the company at the same time my niece," he asked her exasperatedly.

"I know, I also consider them my sisters, why would I leave her in such kind of person?"

"So who was it?"

"My brother," she happily said reaching the depths of her eyes.

'Brother' how long has it been since she wanted to say this word?

"Brother?" Jake asked in confusion.

"Timothy Price," Amber replied her smile still in her face.

"Oh, Timothy… TIMOTHY!!"

After knowing whom Amber was, he of course followed everything about her brothers.

"Will you keep it down? Do you want the Price to know who I am?" she asked with a glare.

Jake rolled his eyes, "Who wouldn't be shock if you drop it just like that? Have you told them already?"

"Of course not, why would I put them in danger by telling them? Being their friend is more than enough," she replied.

Jake's face dropped upon hearing this.

"Don't go being sad because of that. We don't hold the future, we don't know how everything will unfold. But if there won't come a time that I would be able to tell them."

"Or when that time come they would decide to stay away from me, then at the very least, I get to spend some time with them."

She explained with a solemn look.

Jake smiled at her, "Your mother and father would truly feel proud about you. You have grown up splendidly."

"Anyway, do help her with her schedules. I have this intuition that Alissa was still searching for what she truly wanted and that she would find it here," she then explained.

"Was that really all?" he asked.

"Well, when I didn't know that he had a broadcasting company, that was all. But now that he actually has, then I also wanted someone to watch over him."

"Just how old are you?" he couldn't help but ask.

Amber looked at him with confusion.

"Why is it, that you are the one watching over so many people when you yourself needs watching over of?" he then said.

"I guess that's just my character?" she asked before she opened her backpack and pulled out an envelope.

"Now, let's get to the main reason I called you out on the same day I arrived."

She handed him the envelope.

"What's this?" he asked.

Confusion filled his face upon seeing that the contents were all Hayley's designs.

"You didn't tell me what's wrong, so I have to check myself. And it was not difficult at all when you are following someone closely," she turned serious as she said this.

Jake sighed as he put down all the papers.

"I only told you that I felt something regarding someone, yet here you are. Really you are very much perceptive."

"Her designs are starting to lose their lives, what's going on? It started around a year ago," she asked.

Jake sighed once again, "I guess she got distracted?"
