182 Learning From Our Mistake

"You really did came," Amber made a call as she saw Isaac within the VIP area.

"Wouldn't miss it after you have invited me but I wonder if I'll meet you today?" he asked as he looked around.

"Nah, some other time maybe," she replied.

Isaac just shrugged.

They knew that they are talking with the one behind Capa entertainment. The one who was leading Jake France in managing the suddenly blooming entertainment company.

But they have no idea just who it was, of course they sent people to know but they got nothing for Amber would sometimes play around in the office or was someone who could rarely be seen being serious.

"You said the performance is what I am supposed to look forward to, what about it?" he asked.

"I thought you already knew?" she asked in return as she look around the back stage.

She can see how nervous Gee Anne is but she also find it funny that even Mathew was being nervous.

"About that grandson of mine? Yeah he told me but you wouldn't let him play if you think that he is not good enough, so why would I think about it?"

"You don't seem mad that he is performing for our event," Amber asked in amusement.

"Don't get our Empire wrong, we won't stop them from doing work on another companies but there is only one rule, they must never betray the family."

Amber glanced to the VIP area.

"Why can I hear a comparison within your words?" she asked with a laid back tone.

"Think what you want," was all he said.

"Well, just look forward to the performance then, I assure you you would be jealous of us," after that she laughed and hang up without waiting for his answer.

Isaac could only raise an eyebrow, this lady is becoming more and more disrespectful towards him.

'Should I just tell the shareholders never to sell anything to her, it was virtually made anyway and sometimes it would be another person who would meet with them,' he thought as he stared at his phone.

Just then a message arrived.

FROM: Capa's Lead >>> You must remember that I have the recording of you saying, you won't stop me from buying any shares once this event succeeds. You can't back out on your word. <<<

'Is this lady a psychic or something?' he couldn't help but think as he hid his phone.

"Good evening ladies and gentlemen..."

It was then that the program officially started.

"Of all these, which are the ones that Hayley helped with?" Amber asked after checking all the clothes that are lined up.

"It was the first, third, fourth, seventh and the last one," one answered.

"Anyone checked on them before placing them on the rack?"

Since Alissa had been the model for so long, every clothes were already made for her size that is why they no longer need that much of changes.

"Lift your head, you've done nothing wrong," Amber said before she returned to watching the stage from behind but her expression changed to that of seriousness.

She checked all the clothes and she was deeply disappointed.

"Let's call for miss Gee Anne Pines."

The host started introducing her and saying that this will be her debut performance.

Gee Anne took a deep breath, she was very nervous for this was a very big event and it only means one thing. There could be a lot of criticisms once she made a mistake.

"Relax yourself, just like during practice," Mathew said beside her.

He was wearing a half mask as per his request for he really didn't want anyone to know that he was playing.

This is a country under their family after all.

"Even if you say that," Gee Anne commented.

"Hey hey, you have a wonderful man beside you. Why are you being scared of those people out there? Just focus on him," Amber suddenly butted in.

"Why would I focus on him?" Gee Anne answered instantly.

"The way you said it, it feels like you are rejecting her words," Mathew commented.

"Why? Are you a wonderful man?" Gee Anne answered back.

"I wouldn't be performing with you now if I am not," Mathew retorted.

Gee Anne laughed, "I know that you are only performing because Amber promised you a deal."

"That is not true."

"That is the truth."

"No."

"Yes."

"No."

"Enough, it's your turn already, are you planning to just bicker here? Go," Amber stopped them upon hearing them being called.

Gee Anne and Mathew harrumphed at each other before walking out to the stage.

Amber was suppressing her laughter when Jake France came beside her.

"Those two really loves to bicker don't they?" he asked as he shook his head.

"But ain't that cute. It only means that they are at ease with each other," she replied.

"And you used that to calm both of them, didn't you?" he looked at her and said.

"Mathew may not look like it but I can see that he is nervous, Gee Anne was an obvious case as well. Misdirecting that is a good thing."

"But wouldn't it interrupt their performance?" Jake asked.

"Not really, those two has quite a tandem once they play," was her answer.

"Is that the reason you asked him to be her partner?"

"I researched and found out that as a child, he was playing with his sister. So I thought that it would be a good thing for Gee Anne's debut, he has experience with such talent after all."

"I don't know if you're amazing or a monster, you can see so many things in so many fields, I don't think even your father could compare," Jake shook his head upon hearing her reasoning.

"I just know how to do my research, plus among those within the company, no one could bring out the potential Gee Anne showed when the two of them practiced for the first time."

"Why didn't you just hire from the outside?" Jake asked in confusion.

"This is a very important event that must succeed, I really don't want to let a wolf in. Somehow I know I can trust Mathew for he was Ash's friend, that is why I took his service. It is better to be careful that regretting in the end," she answered.

Both of them looked outside as the melody travelled all over the venue, the song may be a bit out of place for a runway but Amber just wanted to show the world, that she is one of a kind and wanted to show Isaac that she will make a different outcome for such a talent.

A call came as the song reached the middle part.

"You really are a cunning one aren't you?" he said.

"Oh, you understand my message instantly," she replied.

"It is not our fault that my grand daughter ended up that way, she didn't say anything about what she was feeling." he suddenly said.

"Why are you explaining that to me?"

"I don't know, I just felt like I should tell you."

"Coming out clean?" Amber laughed.

"I am starting to really get annoyed at you," Isaac commented.

"It's just don't you think being a grandfather, if you really looked close at them and treat them as your grandchildren. You would be able to see that they are not feeling well?" Amber asked this time.

Isaac didn't reply, it was still true that he didn't watch her closely.

"But..."

He heard her spoke up.

"It is not my place to speak about your family. What I am trying to show now is what I have learned from your mistake."

Isaac blinked a few times.

'Learn from our mistake.'

He shook his head.

'Now I see, no wonder you are this good. You are not just looking at your rivals. Seeing their achievements and how you can outshine them. But you also look at their mistakes, not to criticise them but to learn and ensure that it won't happen on yours.'

"You are one hell of a business woman. Maybe it would be a blessing to my company when you indeed become a major shareholder."

He commented before hanging up not waiting for her to hang up on him.

After their conversation the performance ended accompanied by a thunderous clap.

Isaac stood up, looked one last time at the two performers before leaving the event.

He can tell, just with this alone. That the lady on the other side of the call would succeed more than he had expected.

'Maybe that grandson of mine would be able to learn from them. I should really ask him to try and work for them-'

His thoughts stopped upon seeing the smile on Mathew's face as they leave the stage.

'No, just being with them is enough. He will surely grow up,' he thought as a slight smile appeared on his face.

This is indeed a very fruitful night for him, seeing and experiencing so many things despite his old age.
