233 Should I Say Poor Acting?

She looked at the closed door, "Always facing such double faced people are very tiring but facing something new might spice up her day to day life. So why not give her some enjoyment?"

Her face was filled of sincerity as she said this.

Gideon shook his head with a smile, "You truly are just like your mother in this aspect. So don't think that her stubbornness is all you got. You have a lot in common."

Amber was stunned before she smiled at him, "Thank you so much."

Just then the four of them heard a bit of commotion downstairs.

They looked at one another before deciding to check just what is suddenly going on.

"Grandmother Cathrine, I have come to see you. My uncles brought back some souvenirs from the other countries so I came to share it with you," Carla came in and approach Cathrine who just came down.

She was wearing a white dress reaching her knees, it was a round collared, front button short sleeved dress.

Cathrine nodded, "Hmmm."

Amber tried her best to suppress her sneer upon seeing her look. This was the same look she had shown her when Carla poured soup on her and she had to change into a dress in order not to agitate the damaged part.

Carla's eyes went to the three of them who are coming down, she obviously stiffened upon seeing them.

Amber raised an eyebrow with a smirk, 'Should I say poor acting? Your body stiffened but your eyes were shinning brightly as it landed on him.'

"I- I didn't know you were here. I- It's been a while," Carla greeted with her eyes looking around.

Amber was truly stopping herself from laughing at her poor acting.

"Hi," Amber was the one who answered as she gave Carla a sweet smile.

Carla's eyes shifted before she returned her smile.

"Your out? I am going now."

Just then James came out of the dining room with Timothy and Xander.

Carla's eyes widened as she looked at them.

But it didn't left Amber's eyes the fact that her eyes actually shone when she laid eyes on the two of them.

'Waaahh, how fickle. Just how hungry are you for such good looking men? You can easily shift your attention I see,' Amber thought as she crossed her arms in front of her chest.

"I didn't know you have some visitors, I didn't bring that much," Carla shyly said.

She had always been like this whenever she's around Ashton's family.

Her attitude when she was only with Ashton is also different and her attitude when she's with Ashton and Amber is also different.

'I wonder just who you truly are?' Amber asked in her mind as she just looks at Carla who was still keeping up her scared or should she say traumatized act.

"I… didn't know that your visitors are from the Price," she said.

"What's it with you?" Ashton asked in a deadpan manner.

Carla looked at him, before looking away instantly, "Th- That's not it."

Seeing her somehow made Cathrine's day bad.

She just had a wonderful straight conversation now she has to face this person who can't even keep one act together.

"If you're done with your business here then just go," having no more desire to interact with her, Ashton brushed her off.

"I… I want to help about my grandfather. I am trying to persuade him to stop pressuring you. Please just wait a bit more," Carla stopped him by the arm and said.

Ashton looked down at her with cold eyes before looking at her hand.

Carla instantly released him.

"I really want to help, I didn't know that he would know of what happened during your birthday. And now this is what's happening. He might be a major shareholder but he shouldn't be pressuring the Empire like this," she continued looking at Gideon and Cathrine.

Then her eyes went to Amber before going back to Ashton.

Amber smiled deeper.

Xander and Timothy who was just watching her looked at their sister and they could see how amused she looked.

"A white lotus indeed," Samantha looked at Alissa before saying.

Alissa stopped herself from laughing.

They together with Ashley and Liana were just about to come out form the kitchen when they heard Carla's arrival.

"See that, that's what I always have to face," Ashley said rolling her eyes.

"Ashley," Liana called but her eyes say otherwise.

Alissa and Samantha smiled before looking back outside.

"And?"

"Eh?"

When Ashton suddenly asked her a question, Carla didn't get what he meant.

"And was that all you came here for? In that case you may leave, I have no desire interacting more with someone like you," was all he said before walking towards the dining room.

Carla wanted to say more, 'Why cant you see it? Just say that you'll marry me and your problems are solved.'

She gritted her teeth as she clenched her hands into fists.

"Want to join us for dinner? Xander and Timothy's girlfriends cooked together with mother and Ashley," Amber walked up to her and said with a smile.

Carla's eyes turned cold as she glared at her making sure that only Amber could see her face.

For Amber to call Liana mother despite not yet being married to Ashton infuriate her even further.

What's more, Liana even smiled when she heard Amber call her mother, but there was one time where Liana stopped Carla when she tried to call her mother.

'What's so good about this woman?' she thought as her anger rose even further.

Amber's smile widened before she moved closer to her, "Drop your act, can't you see? Everyone can see just how bad you are with your act."

"You-"

So you will join? Come on then, let's have some dinner I really am starving," Amber said before walking to the dinning room.

The other s followed after, even James who was about to leave could only follow. Somehow he just wanted to see how things would unfold here.

Carla bit her lower lip before looking towards Cathrine.

Cathrine walked and upon reaching her side, "Well, if you are free why not join us during dinner? Since you came all the way here to give… gifts."

Carla smiled happily even looking towards Amber as if she had won something.

But Amber no longer bothered with her and was already inside.

Cathrine glanced at her before internally shaking her head, 'Acting like a child, just who is older than the two of you? That one or you? A simple thing made you look at her triumphantly.'

Cathrine sighed she wanted this girl to grow up as Ashton's other half, that is why she always have her by her side.

But in the end she grew up way different than her expectation especially after she studied at another country.

"Shall we eat then," Liana said after everyone was finally seated.

Carla gave the soup a taste in an elegant manner, before she looked up with a smile, "Your cooking is truly amazing aunt Liana. This soup is among the top of my most delicious soup."

But some were just looking at her some weren't even.

"Wh- What is it?" she asked.

Amber sighed, "You are indeed born with a silver spoon but have you forgotten? About table manners?"

Carla wanted to frown but then she realized that the ones holding their spoons are the eldest in the table.

She bit her lower lip, she had completely forgotten that one should wait for the eldest to start eating before all of them started eating.

She was so happy being invited by Cathrine that she wanted to be complimented by Liana, only to be berated by Amber.

"I- I… I…" she didn't know what to say to correct what she had just done.

Even those two ladies whom she didn't know of knew of this matter.

"Okay, that's enough. Let's all eat now," Gideon finally spoke suppressing his laughter at the obvious mockery that Amber was showing Carla.

'This one, didn't even bother hiding anything,' he added in his mind as he finally started eating followed by Cathrine and James.

Carla bowed her head as she gripped the spoon tighter.

First of all Ashton was sitting at a corner so Amber was the only one beside him for Gideon was at that end of the table.

As if doing it on purpose, she ended up siting in another corner, farthest to Ashton, with James Scott on that end of the table and Ashley on her other side.

This was only because Ashley was the last to sit down. When she tried to sit beside Cathrine who was opposite Ashton, Liana went before her.

By the time she realized it, this was the only chair available that was not beside those two stranger ladies.
