271 How Can You Be So Unreasonable?

"We'll just trust you with that," Ashton replied.

"As for the one who brought her here. I can tell that she will indeed step back on this matter. Her career is very important to her and I can see that she has a story to tell. Ashley might have tugged something in her that is why she was willing to let her accompany her."

"But with the way things have turned out, she would surely step back on this."

"You think she will not take responsibility?" he asked, he didn't meet the person so he couldn't judge her.

"I think that what she did was a spur of the moment thing. She was not entirely devoted with taking Ashley in but I also think that Ashley understood this better. Though her pride won't allow her to return without anything to prove."

He couldn't help but sigh, Ashley have been doing things that would cause her harm but since they could always watch over her, she didn't know the gravity of everything.

"Don't worry, she will surely grow up as well. Just focus on your business and the underworld for now. I'll support you in other things," Amber hearing his tired sigh commented.

"Speak to yourself, I only have two things to worry about if you take Ashley's case in your hand. How about you? How many more are you holding?" he asked in return with a laugh.

She loves supporting him, without realizing that she already has her plate full.

Amber chuckled upon hearing this, "I have Leslie, I have aunt Jacqueline, I also have Simon, do you really think my plate is full?"

Ashton smiled, "That's right, I forgot you were a slave driver."

"Hey hey don't go slandering my name, I let them take a break from time to time."

"Time to time indeed, Brian was even complaining to me that he couldn't spend that much of a time with Leslie because the vacation you give is too short."

"Too short? A month is already too short? Tell him that he was just a slowpoke," she answered back.

"Anyway, I'm leaving Ashley to you. I'll tell the others that she is doing fine and for them to let her grow," he laughed after hearing her answer before turning serious again.

"I got it."

Amber sighed after hanging up, she remembered the first time she taught Ashley a life lesson.

She made sure that that would stay intact with her, so how will she teach her now?

She can't threaten her with her life again.

She can't place her in a traumatic situation, so how?

'No, I can just let her do as she wish. Without anyone supporting her, she would surely know the difficulty of everything by then.'

She looked at her necklace before projecting it on the wall.

"I have a task for you."

Jackson frowned upon hearing this, "My hands are already full, what do you want from me?"

"No leave everything, I want you to watch over Ashley," Amber smiled and said.

"Huh?? What am I, a bodyguard? I am a chef not some security personnel," Jackson instantly said.

"Among others you are the only one I can trust who has amazing fighting skills. I can only leave her to you," Amber said.

Jackson started learning fighting with various teachers for five years now and he was a great and fast learner.

"No, I don't want."

"Do it."

"No."

"Do it."

"No."

"Fine, the you're fired, go back to Star Country."

"How can you be so unreasonable?" he complained the moment he heard her words.

"I am not, it is because you are the only one I can ask for this. Ashley is like a baby in the outside world, compared to her you whom I have thrown out here at the tender age and currently of the same age as her, is my only option," she honestly said.

"So, you knew that you threw me here? Slave driver," he complained with a roll of his eyes.

"So, you're accepting it now?"

"Is there anything else I can do? You will fire me if I don't, I know you're serious about that."

"Thank you, you're the best," she beamed.

Jackson grumbled at the thought of babysitting that brat, why must it be him? Just because they were of the same age? Isn't that unfair? He was a cook okay.

"Just leave the kitchen to the other chefs, you can still practice while looking out for her," Amber could see how he hated this.

But she didn't want any body guards to watch over her. This is already the second time she escaped their watch.

"Just don't let her know of your presence as much as possible. Right now, she thinks that she is alone. She is a kind hearted one, she wouldn't approach Russel knowing that my warning is true. But she will try to find a way to get by and follow her dream."

Jackson listened attentively, he may grumble about this task but this is the first time that she really asked him for a favor.

Amber sighed, "To be more precise with my and Ashton's achievements she started losing sight of her own. She felt pressured by everything around her and her failed grades must have caused her to take this risk."

"She couldn't accept the fact that she was such a person while her family were all amazing people. She uses their family's troubles as an excuse in order to justify her act of running away. I know she knows of their power but she needs something, she needs an escape goat for her actions."

Jackson looked at her in awe, she was so angry a while ago but she was able to decipher things with all the answers that the brat has given her.

"Come to think of it, there was one time where you ask me and teacher a favor. Around a year or two from then, you would introduce someone to us and asked us to help out. Could that be that brat?" he then remembered.

Amber smiled, "In the end, she was unable to wait for her opportunity. I did tell her that she just needs to focus on the present and an opportunity would surely open for her. I guess she thinks that what I said would rely on fate or her luck."

It was during the time that she spoke to Ashley for the first time after returning to Celestial Country the year before.

"Such a lucky brat, everything was already being prepared for her yet she chose to take the thorny part. You should have told her you could help her then maybe this trouble wouldn't become this big."

"I can't, if I did then she would remain as a sheltered young miss. At the very least I want her to really study hard because she thinks that she has slim chance on taking up culinary in this country," Amber sighed.

"And because of that it became this big of a trouble," Jackson complained.

"Hey, I am not a fortune teller or someone who can see the future. I can't always tell what the heart contains. I didn't know the pressure would lead her to this," she defended.

"I never said it is your fault, it is the fault of that brat for having such a fragile heart and confidence on herself," Jackson answered with a grumpy tone.

"That's why it has to be you who has an iron heart who should look out for her," Amber then said with a grin.

He glared at her, "You are a slave driver. You're making your chef into a bodyguard, what if something happens to my precious hands?"

"Isn't that why you studied diligently in physical combat? In order not to let anyone hit you and damage your hands?"

Jackson rolled his eyes, he has no way of rejecting her after all.

"And where could I find that brat?" he finally surrendered.

Amber grinned, "I shall leave her in your care then. She is indeed a brat but she is a very kind person. So don't just look at her as the brat you saw a while ago. Try to understand her as well while watching over her."

"I'll judge that on my own, just give me the damn location," he retorted.

Amber shook her head, Jackson was someone who acts angry all the time but she knew very well. He is also a very observant person, she knows he will understand the difficulties that Ashley must be facing right now.

Amber and Ashton were like high mountains in front of Ashley.

Their advice wouldn't help her for she will think as it coming from amazing people whom she can never compare.

That is why she asked Jackson to do this instead, he may be gifted but what he experienced to reach this point might help her compared to Amber and Ashton. Or even that Russel.

'I guess I need to dig deep about her. I can feel it, her identity is not as simple as someone being prideful and over confident. Plus I feel like I won't lose out if I get to know her.'

After sending Jackson off, Amber sat in front of her computer typing away for the rest of the day.

Ashley's case was solved, now it is time to check on other things.
