298 Why Would You Be Asking Me Why?

Amber smiled and waved them goodbye adding more fuel to the fire.

Harvey couldn't help but to shake his head, this person even though she was subjected to the ire of his grandfather, still had the time to tease the others.

"Miss may I ask for your name please."

David tried his best to brush off what she had just done and cleared his throat before asking.

Amber looked back at him and smiled, "Amber Wood, that's my name."

It is not yet time for them to know that she was already married to Ashton, well they'll find out eventually but this is no time for such.

David furrowed his brows as he started thinking where he heard such name. Then he remembered the mentioned year end event a while ago. It was during that time that this person appeared beside a certain someone.

"Is the Wright Empire trying to expand its power?" he asked with squinted eyes.

"Of course not sir, I am here as Amber Wood not as someone connected to the Wright Empire. Isn't that the reason why I am a Wood?" Amber asked in return as she sat down across him.

Harvey don't know whether he should leave or not but at the same time he really didn't want to.

This person is right here with a share second only to their family. The Empire might end up being threatened by her.

And despite her being Ashton's wife or their friend or that she was Timothy and Xander's sister. He won't allow her to use their Empire for her revenge.

He squinted his eyes towards her.

"Don't push that angered aura of yours towards me, I am not here for reasons running in your mind," Amber suddenly spoke before she slowly looked at him.

This stunned him but at the same time, stunned David Carter.

"Do you perhaps know this person?" he asked looking at Harvey.

Harvey didn't answer instantly. They were always hiding from their Empires whenever they meet up, suddenly telling his grandfather his relationship with them may not be a good one.

"Whether he knows me or not doesn't really matter right now. What matters is what I am currently holding," Amber spoke up instead as she placed two files in front of David Carter.

He looked at her before checking the two files, then slowly his eyes grew wide as he looked at each file alternatingly.

Then he looked up at her, Amber smiled this time it was not reaching her eyes. Instead it felt cold to Harvey who have seen so many sides of her.

"Yes, those two are indeed my share and if you were to add them up then obviously. I have higher share in this Empire than the Carter family themselves," she said coldly.

"WHY?!?!" Harvey couldn't help but butt in upon hearing this.

Or was it only Cooper Empire?

Amber scoffed, "Why? Why would you be asking me why?"

She was no longer the same person that he had met one and a half a year ago, no to be more precise has he ever met the real her?

David could tell that these two knew each other but he couldn't pinpoint just how or when.

"Amber," Harvey once again said with a tone filled with warning.

'I am warning you, don't touch this empire or I wouldn't care who you are. I will really become your enemy,' was the words behind this one word.

Amber just stared at him before looking back at David Carter, "I don't mind selling that minor share over there. In your Empire that is."

David squinted his eyes, "And what is the condition for you to do that."

"It's very simple, I am selling it to that man alone. Not anybody else, he is after all still a descendant of your Empire. Him buying it is still the same as your family name being attached to the shares," Amber said pointing at Harvey.

David looked at Harvey before sighing, "Very well I shall help him acquire it."

"Oh no, no, no. I don't want you to help him, I want him to buy it with all his got. It shall be attached to his name."

David slam his hand on the table, "Didn't you say it shall be in our Empire?!?"

"My, my, have I not made it clear? Him buying it is still the same as your family name being attached to the shares. Carter is his family name after all," Amber answered.

"You dare!!"

Even Harvey was left speechless to this fact as he could only stare at Amber and his grandfather who was raging mad.

"I would dare over and over again sir. After all I have more shares than your family right now."

Amber looked like she was a villain of their Empire.

"Do you think you can do just this with our Empire? With hundreds of years as our background?" David said with a tone filled with warning.

"Does years matter? Look at me right now and tell me once again does years matter?" Amber answered.

David and Harvey couldn't help but to admit, she had taken the short path to gain what she had right now.

'Short path?' suddenly Harvey asked himself.

Was the Amber they met someone who took a short path?

Then he remembered Russel, if Amber wanted to do so, she could have threatened her or so. But she didn't instead she befriended her.

'Would Ashton fall for someone who took the short path and would use everything around her even people?'

Harvey started pondering, did they really know who Amber Wood is? Who Nathalie Price was?

"Just who are you? Why are you doing this?" David finally started seeing just what kind of monster he was facing.

Amber smiled even deeper, "Well, let me ask you as well. Why? Why do you feel like you are not taking this share when it was this grandson of yours who will be buying it? I don't get it at all, just how much more bias could you people get?"

"Amber that's enough, what are you doing?" Harvey asked, his grandfather would surely blame him for this.

Amber suddenly smiled at him as if she could read what was going on in his mind and her eyes were telling him one word, 'Coward.'

He gritted his teeth, the Empire was important to him but he has no power towards it. How will he help it if he were to be banned from staying near it?

This is not cowardice, this is just making sure that he would be able to help it at the very least.

Amber slowly shook her head before looking back at David Carter.

"Is it possible for this major shareholder of yours to speak with this one? I think I deserve that at least since I am the one selling the shares after all."

David glared at Harvey as if telling him to be wise, "Very well, I think I too needed to think about this offer of yours."

Harvey led Amber to another office, most probably the office he had been using.

She looked around and could tell that it was a lot shabbier compared to the secretary's office they walked by a while ago.

'Never thought there is such a cinderella in here, a man that is. He was the blood related but the secretary has better life,' Amber thought as she took a seat in his sofa.

"What are you doing right now?" Harvey asked first.

Amber just shrugged not answering him.

"I am warning you Amber, don't you dare lay a hand on our Empire. Even if Ash is your husband or Timothy and Xander are your brothers, I won't hold back. I will protect our Empire. Don't use it for your revenge."

To his shock Amber smiled at him with a cold smile, "Warning? Someone as coward as you are warning me? Should I be scared then? Someone who doesn't even know how to fight back in his own Empire is warning me?"

Harvey stared at her, he has no idea she could be this kind of person. Someone who looks so ruthless as if nothing bothers her in this world. As if no matter what they do she wouldn't be budged.

As if they themselves could only tale a step back when she takes a step forward.

The queen everyone had been talking about ever since they saw her prowess. He never thought he would be witnessing it himself though and their Empire being the one at stake.

"I will protect my Empire no matter what, even if that means I'll have to fight a fight of life and death with you," Harvey still said and resolve was visible in his eyes.

Yet Amber laughed as if laughing his resolve.
