Chapter 972 Leave Cory With Me

Anna was just joking, of course. After all, they lived in modern society with a proper legal system. There would be consequences if they killed Sean. Sean hadn't killed anyone.

He didn't deserve to die for what he had done.

Besides, they had to consider Christina's feelings, too.

Sean might be nothing to them but to Christina, he was her ex-husband. She had loved him once and it would break her heart if he died.

After Christina came back from the ladies' room, she wanted to leave the hospital and go home straight away.

Linda offered to accompany her home.

"Christina, it's not the right time for you to travel abroad. Please wait for a bit more time. Charles and I have discussed this. If you really want to go on a trip, we will send someone to protect you. You can still travel alone and enjoy the trip on your own. He will protect you in secret," Linda said to Christina as they walked to the hospital exit together.

Knowing that it was dangerous for her to travel alone and that Linda and Charles had her best interests in mind, Christina nodded.

As Linda and Christina walked out of the hospital, they happened to meet Steve and his son, Cory, at the gate.

Linda recognized Cory at once.

Cory was startled when he saw Christina.

Ever since Christina had shown up in his life, his family had become fragmented and his mother had disappeared.

Steve frowned, noticing his son shivering in fear.

"Cory, what's wrong? Why are you shaking?" he asked in a concerned voice.

Cory grabbed Steve's arm and shook his head immediately.

Steve sighed helplessly. His wife had left all of a sudden. It was Hebe who used to take care of their son while he worked on projects outside the city. Now that she was gone, who was going to look after their son? If he quit his job to look after Cory, where would he get the money to raise him?

So, Steve was thinking about leaving Cory in a boarding kindergarten, but he felt distressed at the thought of his son staying at school even during the w

today," Steve said, embarrassed.

"Are you leaving the city?"

Christina asked at last.

"Yes, I have to," Steve answered.

"What about Cory? You're so far away and you'll only come back once or twice a month. His mother is gone, too. It's not good for Cory's health and growth," Christina said.

Since Steve was working far away from home, Cory always missed him very much. He could only see his father a few times a year.

He was always waiting for his father to come home. He had been happy that his father had finally spent two whole weeks with him, but now, his father was leaving again.

"Father, can you stay? I don't want to be alone and I don't want to go back to school. Where is mother? I want mother,"

Cory whined, his eyes brimming with tears.

Hearing Cory's words, Steve felt bitter inside.

He crouched down to hug his son.

"Sorry, sweetie. There's nothing I can do. I'll come back to see you soon. I wish I could take you with me, but you have to go to school. Promise me that you will behave well, okay? I'll take you with me next year when you finish kindergarten," Steve consoled Cory.

Christina took a deep breath and said, "How about you leave Cory with me? I have plenty of time and I love kids. I can take care of Cory until we find his mother. You can set your mind at ease and go back to work."
