Chapter 1322 A Call From Jessie

Even with all the security cameras that had been installed, Patricia still couldn't sleep with ease.

The feeling of constantly having to look behind her back with fear was exhausting. Especially during the late quiet nights, she would toss around in bed, struggling to find even a bit of sleep.

Memories of her sad past would somehow always find their way to her mind, causing her agony. The betrayal of her family members were simply too painful to get over.

Patricia was infuriated, feeling overwhelmed by the desire to seek revenge. There was an unfillable void in her heart and she had failed to notice that it was slowly turning her into a vengeful person.

A week had passed since Patricia had been living a quiet, simple life in the Nalan clan's residence. No one came to see her and she did not bother to visit anyone either. For a moment, her world seemed to have found some peace and tranquility.

She was just happy that she hadn't seen Devin in a while—out of sight, out of mind.

At times when she'd find herself alone, Patricia's mind would take her into an anxiety fueled ride. Riddled with fear, her heart became more and more alarmed by the apprehension that something bad was going to happen, but she had no clue how to prepare herself for what was about to come.

Until one day, when she received a phone call from Jessie.

"Hello Patricia, it's been a while."

"Just say what you have to say. There is no need to beat about the bushes..."

Patricia couldn't deny that it was quite surprising for her to hear Jessie's voice again after such a long time, but she decided to confront her in a straightforward manner.

"I like your candor!"

"I don't know what you were expecting. We are not good friends. You know it better than me, right? I'm just a jealous woman. I don't even need to pretend that I like you."

Patri

hoped that the two bodyguards would observe professional ethics and never betray her. However, she had underestimated the situation.

The amount of the bank transfer on the screenshot was quadruple.

Patricia shut her eyes as beads of sweat formed on her forehead. She took a deep breath and opened her eyes again. Devin was far more cunning than she had given him credit for. The man never showed any signs of panic in front of her. In fact, Patricia recalled that his eyes looked calm when he faced her. It was all a lie.

In reality, he was planning something else.

Patricia pressed her lips hard. Without further hesitation, she dialed Jessie's number.

"Why are you helping me?"

Patricia uttered between her teeth. Her brain was scrambling to understand why Jessie would choose to help her under such circumstances.

"Believe it or not, it's because of Rosy."

"What does this have to do with Rosy?"

"Why don't we meet up and talk about it in person?"

"Fine!"

Patricia hung up the phone with a healthy dose of skepticism. She had a lot of questions in her mind that needed to be answered, and even though she didn't trust in Jessie's words, Patricia decided to meet her anyway to find out what was going on.
