Chapter 53 - 50

Suddenly the atmosphere turned dark, all of Song Liya's hair stood up as she felt a chill down her spine. She hasn't felt this chill in a while, it was the first time since she started training.

"Song Zihan, you should know that a deal must never be broken once it was made. Don't you remember the old rule that we made back when we were younger? To never break a promise, a deal isn't any different." said Jia Xin Yi.

In a blink of an eye, even faster than what Song Liya's eye could trace. Song Zihan was suddenly on the ground, both her arms were pinned and Jia Xin Yi was on top of her which didn't allow her to move.

Although Song Liya disliked her mother, there was no way she would let someone hurt her. Song Liya immediately ran towards her mother hoping to get Jia Xin Yi off her mother, but then there was a loud shout in there.

"Stay where you are Song Liya!" her mother shouted.

Song Liya froze in place, she never heard her mother's tone like this, it was almost as if she's trying to save her.

"Why should I stay where I am? You're pinned on the ground!" Song Liya exclaimed.

"Because if you move, you're going to die! Jia Xin Yi isn't someone to mess with, not even someone of your caliber could go against her," said Song Zihan.

"Huh?" Song Liya let out a surprised yelp.

"I'm glad you still remember Song Zihan, though I think you should tell your daughter what I used to do in the past. Otherwise, she'll be confused" said Jia Xin Yi.

Song Liya tilted her head in confusion, what was Jia Xin Yi talking about? What did she use to do in the past? She didn't come here for that, all she wanted to know was the deal they made back then.

"I don't want to explain it, you're the one who has me pinned on the ground so you have to explain it," said Song Zihan.

"Haha! Still using the most excuses to get me to do the work, though I guess it's better if I explain it though," said Jia Xin Yi as she took a deep breath.

"The reason why your mother told you to not mess with me and told you that not even someone of your caliver could beat me was that I used to do assassination work. Back in my time, we did assassinations to get what we wanted, money, valuables, anything that we considered valuable. I did it for almost a decade until I stopped due to an injury, that was when I decided to look for other things to do and that's where I met your mother." Jia Xin Yi continued.

Song Liya stood there, trying to process what she heard. Was she just told that the empress of the Jia family used to be an assassin? There was no way right? The person in front of her had actually killed someone before, Song Liya felt a small chill down her spine.

"It's hard to believe correct? A former assassin who became an empress, everything I'm saying is the truth. Ask your mother, she can confirm it." said Jia Xin Yi.

Song Liya turned to her mother who nodded in reply. That meant the person in front of her was dangerous, more dangerous than her.

"Don't worry, it's not like I'm going to kill you or harm your mother or anything. I'm just going to have your mother fulfill her promise," said Jia Xin Yi.

"Song Liya." said Song Zihan.

"What is it?"

"Leave the room."

"Huh? Why?"

"This is a private matter I have to discuss with Jia Xin Yi, it's something you're not allowed to listen to. Leave," said Song Zihan.

Song Liya didn't want to leave, she wanted to hear what they were talking about since it would help her a lot. But she listened, she didn't want a former assassin to forcefully make her leave.

"Fine, but I'll be back to check up on you," said Song Liya as she left the area.

Once Song Liya was gone, Jia Xin Yi smiled knowing that they're going to be the only ones in the room.

"Song Zihan, tell me why you aren't going to fulfill the deal we made?" asked Jia Xin Yi.

"Because things changed!" Song Zihan replied.

"What type of things changed? You're still the same person from when I first met you, it's just that your attitude changed a little," said Jia Xin Yi.

"That's not the problem here, it's the deal that was made between us. It's wrong," said Song Zihan.

"What's wrong with it?" asked Jia Xin Yi.

"You still dare to ask that? Let me tell you, the match was the last time I saw you. You said you had to leave for five years, you didn't even tell me why. That's why I made the deal with you, if I won, you could never appear in my life again. But I lost, that meant you could come back, however, you came back after ten years?! What the hell were you doing during the time?"

"During that time I was busy with my family, you already know about the history of my family, that's what I was doing. What else was wrong with it?'

"What's so funny?' asked Jia Xin Yi.

"I don't know, I just feel freer after finally being able to tell you." Song Zihan replied.

"Oh...also, I'm sorry I didn't know sooner, otherwise I would've-" Before Jia Xin Yi could continue any further, Song Zihan covered her mother.

"Don't continue, I already know what you're going to say," said Song Zihan.

"Really? Then what was I going to say?"

"Are you trying to test me? You're forgetting that I'm the one that knows you best, you were going to say you loved me too, correct?"

"Ah, you read my mind perfectly."

They both let out a laugh, the atmosphere became more pleasant, it felt comforting.

"Though I feel quite disheartened that I can't be with you, I have a bastard husband to deal with," said Jia Xin Yi.

"Same here, wait, you still love me?"

Jia Xin Yi stared into Song Zihan's eyes.

"Of course."
