In the cold chilling twilight with an eerie silence, a dark figure hovered before a sleeping teen creating a haunting sight that could terrify the faint of heart. The murderous intent coming from this dark figure was bone-chilling but there was no one to warn this teen.
A tarsus with sharp tarsal hair as sharp as a blade metamorphosed from within the shadow as it struck the ground right by Rui Fei's ear. Soon seven more appendages appeared and they all surrounded Rui Fei's body.
A thick greenish liquid flowed down as the cephalothorax of the creature appeared. Its eyes on either side were multiple and shone brightly in the darkness like a lava lamp in the inky night. Its abdomen gradually appeared showing a body that closely resembled that of a spider but it wasn't entirely a spider.
The slobbery liquid with high viscosity slowly dripped down and a little bit of it touched Rui Fei's robe burning it before it touched his skin leaving a wound like that from an acid burn.
The scorched skin looked painful but Rui Fei didn't flinch. He was completely knocked out cold. The creature seemed pleased about this that its body shivered in excitement. As it leaned down its abdomen gradually extended as though growing another appendage.
A segmented thin tail grew from its abdomen and at its tip, it had a stinger like that of a scorpion. A white beam shone on the stinger as it descended towards Rui Fei's body. A wave of excitement swept past the body of the creature as it raised its stinger before plunging it down at a fast speed to stab at Rui Fei's body.
But just as the stinger grazed Rui Fei's skin it was suddenly clasped and it couldn't go further than that. It tugged at its stinger a couple of times but it refused to barge no matter what.
Vexed it looked down only to see the half-dead Rui Fei holding on to its stinger with a tight grip. Its gaze abruptly fell on Rui Fei's face only to be met by dark eyes with a glint of danger. "Impossible!" it said but soon it couldn't speak because Rui Fei twisted his arm and it instantly knew what he intended to do.
It raised one of its legs close to Rui Fei's face and stabbed at his head but Rui Fei dodged in time before engaging his aether and striking the creature with a powerful force. The creature was sent flying a few feet but it quickly stabilised its body.
Rui Fei on the other hand had gotten up and he was standing a distance away fuming in anger. His eyes were a vicious bright grey.
He was on the brink of a transformation but his body was still so weak though looking at him now no one would think he had a problem. He was like a raging bull ready to crush his enemy to dust.
The creature could feel the sense of danger coming from this cub but it wasn't shaken. It roared at him as it slowly paced looking for a weak spot to attack. The two were stuck in a stalemate sizing each other up.
Annoyed by this stupid game of 'who goes first' Rui Fei couldn't take it anymore. He ripped off the tattered top part of his robe revealing a sturdy chest with burn wounds scattered all over his body. He clearly had been through so much but he still had a fighting spirit.
Rui Fei's eyes flashed a cold light with his hands slightly stretched out on either side of his body. Suddenly a gust of his seraphic energy burst forth out of his core and the rocks surrounding the shore rose to his height calmly floating in the air.
Rui Fei could easily transform his seraphic energy into any weapon he so desired but he was barely holding up so he could only do this to conserve his energy.
"Hehehe... it thinks we are a dog that can be scared away by pebbles," said the creature to itself finding this very amusing.
"What would it like us to do next? Play fetch? Hehehe.... it will be doing the fetching, not us."
Rui Fei sneered at its words before injecting a little more of his seraphic energy. The rocks and stones that were calmly floating suddenly looked like they had been injected with chicken blood. Like flying bullets, they shot straight at the creature with a speed that could tear a person apart.
The creature's body turned stiff for a moment before attempting to dispel this attack. It created a transparent shield blocking the attack but even then it was still pushed back a step. Cracks began to form as the rocks struck the shield at the speed of a bullet.
One crack grew longer and longer almost splitting the shield into two. Realising the seriousness of this situation it ran on its eight legs towards some nearby boulders hiding from the rest of this fierce attack.
The rocks followed the creature's movements up until it hid behind the boulders. The rocks struck the big stones but only managed to cause minimal damage.
A livid Rui Fei stretched out his hand and the boulders were suddenly cracked in half. The creature leapt up into the sky from the split boulders like a jack in the box toy but to Rui Fei, there was no surprise there.
He neatly dodged to the side with the grey fog stretching out at his command. The creature noticed the childish trick but with its momentum, it couldn't stop in time. It tripped on the grey fog before rolling on the floor a few times.
It only stopped rolling when it hit its body against the wall of the cave. The tremors from its body hitting the wall caused some eroded rocks at the top of the wall to come tumbling down. The creature was quick-witted using its stinger to sweep the rocks away.
But while it did this Rui Fei wasn't idle. With his palm he struck the ground with a force so powerful it cracked the floor. The explosive crack spread towards the creature as the earth tremored.
The ground collapsed on the creature and it fell into the hole. A loud high pitched cry was heard followed by a loud thud sound.
Rui Fei cautiously walked over to the edge of the pit he created. But just as he reached the edge his neck was suddenly strangled by the stinger of the creature and his body pulled down. Rui Fei barely had any time to respond as his body was slammed to the ground.
A cloud of dust was raised as his body hit the bottom. Because the creature had used too much strength the pit caved in from the tremors resulting in the both of them being buried under rocks.
Rui Fei felt numb at this point. Numb from his aetherial veins screaming at him in pain, numb from the muscles that were hurting so much he felt they were being torn apart.. His body felt unusually cold like a bucket of ice had been poured down his shirt in the middle of winter.
