Chapter 241 - Playing Dirty In The Face Of Defeat

The Yinying creature couldn't accept this humiliation. Rui Fei's words were like pouring an entire can of gasoline on a raging flame. Of course, the result wouldn't be anything good.

Its head was unnaturally turned one hundred and eighty degrees like a ghost in a horror movie. Its numerous pairs of eyes were shining a fierce gold colour that can give an old lady a heart attack if she met this sight in the dark but in Rui Fei's eyes they were the least bit scary.

His body above ground he smiled triumphantly with the keystone happily dancing above the palm of his hand. As his body absorbed more of the keystones energy his smile grew bigger and bigger. The creature roared at him again but this time it dashed towards him with a pair of tentacles growing on its sternum.

The two appendages shot out at him as they grew longer but Rui Fei instinctively dodged. The tentacles sped up their attacks as the creature tried to predict Rui Fei's next movement.

Rui Fei could probably end this sooner but after enduring so much from the creature he decided to indulge it. Their fast-paced movements became hard to keep up with the naked eye. It was like they had vanished into thin air but in truth, they were moving too fast for a regular person to see them properly.

Rui Fei who had enough fun taunting the creature finally brought this little game to an abrupt end. He raised his leg which he had focused all his energy into and sent a ferocious kick at the creature almost severing the joint between its sternum and abdomen.

The creature cried out in anguish as it fell from the sky like a fallen angel kicked out of heaven. With a loud splash, the water was parted till one could see the sediments at the bottom of the pool.

Rui Fei wasn't done with it though. In his hand appeared a grey sword made out of his seraphic energy. Its blade serrated on either side was surrounded by violent energy that could only belong to the keystone.

Like a rocket falling from space, he descended upon the creature and slashed it with the blade. The force was powerful enough to send the creature flying out of the water before crashing into the shipwreck it lived in bringing it to ruins.

A golden light shone inside the shipwreck prompting Rui Fei to hurriedly follow the creature inside giving it little time to recover. With the swipe of his hand, he sent the cracked wooden planks flying a great distance as he cleared a path for himself in the rubble.

In the dim-lit ship, he saw a shadow scurry away to a lower deck. He furrowed his brows and slashed at the shadow with his sword exploding the staircase. Seeing that he had missed he angrily leapt down in the hole he had created in the floor.

Descending from the upper deck like a superhero he held up his sword intending to stab the creature and end this. But as the sword came down the creature turned around but instead of seeing an ugly creature, he was met by a beautiful lady terrified out of her mind.

He knew this was one of the creature's tricks so he raised his sword again only to stop an inch above the woman's chest his expression disconcerted. Those eyes that face... it looked more like his. Her skin was as refined as smooth jade with dazzling phoenix eyes and sword eyebrows.

Looking at the slim, flat-shaped nose with a shorter tip and wide lips it was like looking into a mirror. Her pupils were a bright amber rippling with complex emotions.

Her hair was a voluminous silvery grey from roots to ends and on her forehead was a crown headpiece with a shining grey gemstone and the lower band was shaped like vines.

Her body was draped in a torn gold robe that clearly expressed what she had been through. She raised her hand to protect herself with a tear stricken face. "Ple-please don't..... don't hurt..... wuwuwuwu my baby, you will hurt my baby," she said in between sobs as she dragged her body backwards.

Rui Fei froze with his hands trembling. His initial thought was how did this creature replicate this heart-wrenching memory when he wasn't even born yet. But what he didn't know was that her emotions at the time this happened seeped into him as a cub fetus.

It was buried so deep that even he couldn't remember what his mother looked like. When he was born he hardly took a glance at her before she vanished into thin air leaving behind gold sparks floating around. Of course, there was no way for him to remember this as he was a newborn.

But the more his sight lingered on her face he began to sink deeper into this memory. He always dreamt of seeing his mother even if it was only for a second. When he was a child he always wondered what life would be like if she was around.

Would his mother suffer with him? Would his mother protect him, shield him from his beast of a father? Would her presence be comforting in that dark gloomy cell?

But as he grew up he slowly realised there was no point in drowning himself in what-ifs. She would never come back to him because she was dead. Despite this fact, faced with this woman at this moment he couldn't help himself. He wanted to embrace her and ask if she ever loved him or thought of him.

His sword trembling he cried out, "Mom," in a whimper that almost sounded like a toddler, "Mom..... it's me." He pointed at his chest as tears streamed down his face uncontrollably.

The woman clutching her stomach on the ground froze as she stared at him her pupils quivering as the tears flowed down at a much faster rate.

"Yo-you.....," she said before her expression brightened and she stretched out her quivering hand, "my baby, wuwuwuwuwu."

Rui Fei took a hesitant step forward as the sword in his hand vanished. He just wanted to embrace her and never let go. Desperate to feel the comforting warmth of his mother he took another step forward.

The creature that harboured terrible designs sneered internally as it thought, 'Sure enough he is still a cub. It was worth it losing half our strength just to get this memory.'

It prepared to kill him the moment he embraced it. 'Yes, little cub. One more step..... come to mama,' it thought as it saw victory in sight. This kid was so messed up that he had a lot of issues this creature could manipulate.. But the most effective things thus far was Ji Yao and this woman that he found buried deep inside Rui Fei's memories.
