Chapter 299 - Dog Blood Drama

Throughout history, pirates were rumoured to be boorish savage people with little regard for human life. This was also true of the concord but their barbarism mostly manifested itself in front of a lavish feast and wine.

When they geared up in a merry mood they became very loud and rowdy in enjoyment. The overseer of Lequ didn't hold back generously giving them the best of the best showing his true sincerity.

Ji Yao suspected that he was only doing this to butter him up so he would go easy on them when it came time to hand over half his treasury. Ji Yao tried to enjoy his meal but for some reason, he found the food tasteless despite being served with sweet things that were to his taste.

Instead of a pleasant sweetness on his tongue, a sour feeling lingered on and no matter how many pieces of cake he had it wouldn't go away.

If he continued like this he might end up gaining a little pouch eating so much sweet things so he stopped and accepted that the source of his sourness was coming from something else.

Rui Fei was a very hard working lover trying to ease the tension in Ji Yao's heart but it wasn't helping much. His gaze was icy wherever he looked. It wasn't necessarily directed at anyone but it made the crew subconsciously tense up whenever that gaze casually swept past them.

The sourness eventually spread from the back of his tongue down his throat and seeped through his aetherial veins making him feel rather uncomfortable. The aura emanating from him was murderous like if he didn't kill someone he won't feel at ease. In essence, Ji Yao wasn't feeling well.

He might not know what was happening to him but someone like Lady Ching Sei who had been long enough to have interacted with Qilin Hao had some sort of idea of what was happening. Ji Yao might be more possessive of Rui Fei than he had realised.

That's exactly what Qilin Hao was like with Ji Wen with the only difference being that Qilin Hao wouldn't hesitate to slaughter anyone who dared flirt with her man. She was a pure-blood Nocru used to violence and she didn't see anything wrong with eliminating the competition as it was in her nature.

Unlike his mother, Ji Yao wouldn't easily resort to such savagery over a trivial matter but that didn't mean he wouldn't react negatively when someone dipped a toe on his territory.

She had to do something otherwise who knows if Ji Yao would follow in his mother's footsteps so she turned to Zhang Li who was drinking like a fish.

She nudged his elbow while fixing her gaze on Ji Yao and asked, "Doesn't his expression remind you of someone?"

Zhang Li chuckled like a silly fool for a second as he slowly turned his head to look in Ji Yao's direction. "Shit," he muttered hiding behind Lady Ching Sei's back while peeking at Ji Yao.

"Qi-qilin Hao. That lunatic, when she gave you that face you just know blood was going to spill," he said instantly sobering up. Who didn't know when Qilin Hao was jealous she would throw a tantrum making sure her love rival didn't breathe the same air as her.

"You are drunk, aren't you?" she asked pulling him away from her back.

Zhang Li would never admit that no matter what especially when he wanted to continue drinking and have his sweet Lady Ching Sei carry him to his quarters. Wouldn't this be the perfect opportunity to develop feelings?

But if they don't soothe that half Qilin on the verge of exploding then none of them would have a peaceful night. He took a large gulp of wine and as the dry fruity liquid flowed down his throat he said,

"It's not enough to get lavish treatment and treasures as compensation. To solve this she needs to be punished otherwise that pent up anger would be redirected towards us and I am not going to get my ass roasted for someone else."

His heartfelt speech was followed with action. Lady Ching Sei watched him call over Big Hei and whisper something to him. Big Hei immediately nodded his head and left the hall.

Two minutes later he came back dragging that little miss from before to the main hall and harshly threw her to the ground. She rolled twice on the ground as her servants rushed over but they were immediately stopped by crew members who drew their sabres barricading the way.

"Ooowww shit is about to go down?" said an excited Rui Li who had been looking forward to this dog blooded drama for a long time. Rui Yewan's brow furrowed as he picked up her cup and sniffed it thinking it was wine.

Rui Li like them had gone through a lot in that dungeon that is to say her brain wasn't wired like that of a regular little girl. This meant it was their job to watch her closely otherwise she would sink deeper into that rabbit hole and her past experiences would ruin her future.

Rui Li frowned as she took back her cup. "It's tea you idiot," she said before taking a sip while watching the good show, "I am high on this live-action dog blood drama."

Rui Yewan, "..."

The overseer who had been brown-nosing Ji Yao this entire time immediately rushed in front of his daughter and knelt in a posture of protecting her. Ji Yao's finger stopped tapping the table as his gaze shifted to Big Hei who had drawn a sabre and its tip brushed against the girl's neck.

Remember the question, "How far is Ji Yao willing to go to be with Rui Fei?" Well, now he had an answer. The sour feeling from before had vanished as a hint of brutality flashed in his eyes.

She had to be punished for what she did. The brat even had the balls to call him Rui Fei's father. What a fucking insult. The overseer kowtowed begging for mercy but that girl didn't say a word nor did she join her father in begging for her life.

In fact, she looked like after she insulted Ji Yao and got home she pampered herself as evidenced by the mud mask on her face. There was barely any consequence for her actions and it seemed she believed her father would be able to save her as before.

It was just a little money so what? They could also scam more money out of the endless stream of visitors that come to their town. This meant she didn't see the need to bow before this old cow eating young grass. The middle-aged man was so ashamed to show his face even at a banquet.

At least she thought so until she raised her head and met the cold eyes of an enchanting seducer wearing the same robe as the man she had insulted before.
