Chapter 357 - Cheap Trick

So when Ji Yao spun around to face him his hair flowing gracefully with his movements this frozen popsicle was both smitten and terrified. A loud shing sound pierced through the air as Ji Yao's whip sword shot forward as though aiming for the skinny kid.

Xiao Yùnqì thought he was going to die as he closed his eyes regretting touching those jade pieces and ever hugging this handsome brother's boyfriend. But the tip of the whip flashed past him followed by warm blood splattering on his back.

The frightened kid finally opened his eyes as he stared at Ji Yao all wide-eyed. Ji Yao raised his brow in an arch wondering if this boy was stupid. "Be good and hide with Wan didi, okay?" he said in an icy tone with a hint of concern that most would miss but not Xiao Yùnqì.

He wanted to say something but in the next moment, Ji Yao had vanished. Xiao Yùnqì turned around and eyed the dead man on the ground with a look of disdain. Feeling the need to take vengeance, he kicked the corpse a couple of times venting his anger before going to find Rui Yewan.

Ji Yao on the other hand went up the stairs only to be met by his father in law half way. This time Emperor Rui was prepared. Red tendrils appeared from behind his back struck at Ji Yao but he flipped backwards dodging the attack.

Hovering mid-air he took out the jade tile and yelled, "Did you do this?" with the veins on his temple throbbing.

Slowly floating upwards emperor Rui smiled slyly his gaze like that of a wolf on the prowl. "I commanded them to do it so I guess in truth I did it... What? Huh..... was it important?" he said in a tone so pissing off that Ji Yao couldn't restrain himself.

He threw those shattered pieces in his face with a red glint in his eyes. The cloudy skies angrily flushed blue sparks of lightning with the surroundings darkening further by the second.

The waters that had calmed down just now stirred up violently bashing hard against the hulls of the ships. This was a sign that the god of lightning was upset and a lightning storm was about to break out. Everyone who knew what that meant wanted to hide but they were still engaged in battle and could only endure.

"Ha... cheap trick," said Emperor Rui before lunging forward with red tendrils aimed at Ji Yao. Ji Yao was especially ruthless in his counterattack cutting them down like weeds but they kept coming. With each one he cut down another grew in its place making this process tedious but Ji Yao was just getting started.

The thunderous roar from the sky suddenly descended behind Ji Yao. Bolts and bolts of lightning rained down from the clouds decorating the horizon like a vicious version of fairy lights. In front of that dangerous curtain of lightning was Ji Yao's tall figure glowering at Emperor Rui as though looking at a dead man.

But Emperor Rui wasn't at all shaken. In fact, he found it rather interesting. He amusedly said, "Intriguing..... not so cheap after all but like before this is just a stupid light show."

Ji Yao tightened the hand clutching the hilt of his sword as he said, "Whether it is just a stupid light show or not you will get to find out soon."

Emperor Rui chuckled but two seconds later he wasn't laughing anymore. When Ji Yao swung his whip the lightning bolts were drawn to the tip of that whip sword. With a deafening sizzling sound, Ji Yao lashed out at Emperor Rui continuously pushing him back.

The man couldn't hold his ground as he was constantly bombarded by an endless assault. He could only be on the defence while looking for a weakness. Like Emperor Rui, Qilin Kai wasn't having a great day either. If he were to take on Huishe Yue without outside influence it would be a fair fight but now that Rui Fei was in the picture it meant he had to fight smart, not hard. This strategy helped him pull through but his problems amplified when he felt a presence he hadn't felt for five decades.

He should have ignored it and continued to fight this pair of uncle and nephew but his raw savage instincts couldn't be ignored. So after striking the pair with a vicious firestorm he pursued that familiar presence.

And when Emperor Rui saw him flee he knew he was screwed. He was crazy but he was also well aware of his strength. If he was left alone with Huishe Yue, Rui Fei and Ji Yao then that would be like signing his own death certificate. Gathering as much seraphic energy as possible he pushed back Ji Yao's attack causing a massive explosion.

Ji Yao who was still pissed off about Emperor Rui touching his things couldn't let him go. He went after him and behind him was the two Huishe. The seas that were tranquil and undisturbed were suddenly crowded with a horde of creatures and two men flying past one after the other.

"Why are you running like a little bitch," yelled Ji Yao after Emperor Rui.

Emperor Rui just flipped him off with a menacing smile as he caught up with that Qilin.

"Yao-ge, hold on," yelled Rui Fei as he flashed past Ji Yao asking him to climb on his back. The three hurriedly caught up but just as they did Qilin Kai suddenly halted sharply before bellowing threateningly like a beast that had met its natural enemy.

Not knowing what was ahead the two Huishe also halted mid-air only for Huishe Yue to almost lose his shit having seen Qilin Hao.

Qilin Hao also let out an earth-shattering roar threatening both the Huishe and Qilin Kai only for her to see her son sitting comfortably on top of a Huishe.

"Ah-Yao!..... What the fuck! Get down from there!" she yelled as she transformed back to her human form.

Ji Yao, "..."

Huishe Yue, "Oh shit."

He nudged his nephew and whispered, "Put him down if you want to live," but when did Rui Fei ever listen to anyone.

Ji Yao on the other hand refused to get down. He was more concerned for his father so his gaze fell on Ji Wen whom he hadn't seen in ages and heaved a sigh of relief when he saw he was still in one piece.

That is until he realised that the man wasn't bound or anything. In fact, he was cosying to his wife with his hand now on her waist. "What the fuck? You aren't even a hostage?" he said with a scowl on his face. That's when he realised he had just been played. Ji Wen seemed more like he was on a vacation looking at peace and well relaxed.

Ji Wen who had been cursed out by his son couldn't take that lying down so he said, "Don't be disrespectful. Remember I am still your father."

"What are you talking about? Between the two of us who is more like the adult?" replied a disgruntled Ji Yao glaring at his father.
