Chapter 403 - Comeback Of An Old Female Ghost

He struggled greatly with the blood from his nose seeping down on the deck. From his angle, he could see a pair of dark blue brocade boots ambling over to him. Two seconds later the person crouched before him with his arms leisurely resting on his thighs.

Because the man's hands were dangling he finally saw it. The unmistakable mark of death each Captain, crew member and family member of the Concord had engraved by the Pirate King himself. It was said that their flesh was burnt with lightning sparks just to engrave that symbol.

Others had tried to replicate it with ink but because this mark had traces of Pirate King Ji's seraphic energy one could verify the authenticity at a glance. Scarface immediately began to shiver uncontrollably and almost cried out tears of blood as he tried to open his mouth to beg for his life.

Having made a point Ji Yao got up and walked back up the stairs of the quarterdeck. Just like his mother had shown him he lit the lanterns at the traftrail. Because it was already approaching dusk the vivid red flames spreading around the hull of the ship were clearly visible.

With a single hand gesture, the flames that had been docile instantly became agitated. In a split second, a loud explosion was heard as the ferocious flames shot out of the open-mouthed Qilin figurehead and struck one of the ships aiming their guns at them.

Quick to act the crew on that ship jumped into the sea in time before the entire ship blew up. The crew Red Valkyrie who hadn't seen that coming stared at the burning ship flabbergasted.

The thing they thought was for decorative purposes had been effectively weaponized by Ji Yao. They weren't certain whether this was Qilin Hao's initial intention when she designed this. Ji Yao was like a kid who had just got his first electric ride on car only to realise he can run over people he doesn't like.

Ji Yao looked down at his hand with residual flames burning calmly like a candle surrounded by still air. He slowly clenched his fist extinguishing the flame as he commanded, "Anchor at the port.... and clean up the city."

The moment he said that everyone started running around taking their positions. No one wanted to rile up this captain so they got down to business immediately. Rui Fei's absence had really screwed with Ji Yao's personality.

Actually, it would be better to say that he had reverted to his old self ever since Rui Fei left which made everyone walk around him on eggshells. This is why no one dared to say nonsense around him. Well, except Zhang Ci. That's because he was a daredevil just like his father. Zhang Li even had the balls to talk shit in front of Ji Wen so yep..... like father and like son.

In a matter of minutes, the docks were invaded and the men who had been brazen enough to point their guns at Red Valkyrie were now running for their lives. Who didn't know that the Concord members were bad shit crazy?

But before any blood apart from a nose bleed could be spilt a familiar yet not so familiar face appeared before them. Rui Pianzi casually walked over his expression relatively calm. Standing a few feet from the docks he said, "How about we have a conversation first before shedding blood?"

Xunshi Zhe snorted coldly as he placed his battleaxe on his shoulder. "You aren't in the position to make demands," he said as Big Hei let down his chains with a disturbing clank like they were about to drag this kid to hell.

Rui Pianzi scanned through the crowd before his gaze landed on a figure dressed in a dark blue robe embroidered with gold standing at the quarterdeck of the ship. Because Ji Yao had on his veil already he looked like a resentful ghost that had made a deal with the devil just to torment the living.

A breeze blew by lightly sweeping his robes and veil arousing Rui Pianzi's interest. What sort of face could bend his broken down brother enough to kill anyone in his way?

He had seen Ji Yao once when he rescued them but then he had also thought it was a girl. If Xiaoyu hadn't told him he still would have believed that the person who saved them from the hell hole was a girl. This meant he had no impression whatsoever as to what Ji Yao looked like now.

Because his gaze had lingered too long on that figure the crew of Red Valkyrie were truly annoyed.

Was their Captain someone one should gawk at? Big Hei was about to gouge his eyes out when Ji Yao leapt off the ship and landed right before Rui Pianzi. That face had already sold itself out. This could only be one of the children he saved when he burnt down the then Prince Rui's Pavillion.

It's just that he hadn't expected to see him here. He looked nothing like Rui Fei but they had the same eyes. On account of that, he decided to talk first. He stepped aside and Lady Ching Sei's successor dragged Scarface over while whispering, "Lead the way," before shoving him to the ground.

The terrified man glanced over at Rui Pianzi who was just standing there frozen with a stupefied expression before he shuffled up with great difficulty and led the way. The moment Ji Yao passed him Rui Pianzi immediately got back to himself.

He had no idea what just happened now. For a moment he had stopped breathing with his entire body stiffening in place as those eyes under that veil stared at him. He felt his heart stall like it was about to seize beating before it quickened like he was on the verge of having a heart attack.

It was only after Xunshi Zhe bumped his shoulder that he exhaled. Big Hei paused in front of him for a second as he said, "The resemblance is uncanny." After saying this Big Hei moved on as well.

Meanwhile, Scarface had led them to the largest two-story building in the city. From the outside one could tell this was a house of debauchery at a glance. The lower level was devoid of people. It seemed they had scrambled out of the place in a rush leaving behind unfinished meals and overturned chairs.

Ji Yao followed Scarface upstairs only to be met by a lone figure sitting at the corner table draped in green robes. When she saw who it was she slowly raised her head and the teacup in her hand trembled. "Yao-ge," she called out softly the smile on her face enchanting.

"What the... she's not dead?" yelled Zhang Ci in surprise. He wasn't there when it happened but his father had retold the series of events in detail just to explain to him what would happen if he continued to pursue Ji Yao. The only reason he wasn't dead was that Ji Yao was giving Zhang Li some face.. If it weren't for that he might have suffered the same fate as this green-robed vixen.
