"It's actually very interesting that you came here looking for someone but unfortunately that someone might not want to go with you," said Rui Yewan as he signed for her to be careful.
Because of the moonlight seeping through the windows, Rui Li could clearly see what he was signing. The pair split in different directions with Rui Yewan's entire body turning into a dark fog.
After hearing what the boy said Qilin Yanjing's expression darkened with the vile smile on his face vanishing in an instant. "Why wouldn't he? He is my blood and you mongrels are holding him against his will," replied Qilin Yanjing with his brows furrowed.
Rui Yewan reappeared a few feet from Qilin Yangjing and made a complicated hand signal controlling his seraphic energy before sending it forth to a different corner opposite to where he was currently standing.
As a result, Rui Yewan's voice was heard coming from the opposite side of his current position saying, "Old man, such hideous language is not befitting of a senior. Just because we are half-bloods it doesn't mean we can be compared to mongrels."
Hearing that that voice was close Qilin Yanjing rushed forth in that direction only for his ankle to be wrapped by an unexpected dark fog and dragged down. His body was whacked into the roof and walls of the corridor with a loud bang. Though the collisions were powerful the walls and ceiling stayed intact.
That's because Qilin Hao accounted for such a thing when she built this ship with Ji Wen. They had used wood grown from trees that originated from Niuq and because of their composition they were able to withstand such collisions.
But his period playing with this Qilin lIke a yoyo was short-lived. A sharp flaming blade sliced through the dark fog that was wrapping Qilin Yanjing's ankle before slashing across Rui Yewan's chest.
As he fell back into the puddle of water with a loud splash he called out, "Li-er, hurry up!"
The Qilin that was striding towards Rui Yewan to finish him off suddenly shifted his head towards the location where the footsteps were coming from. Annoyed he shifted his body towards that direction only for a dark fog to form a wall preventing him from leaving.
Another wall appeared behind Rui Yewan separating the two of them from the rest of the world. Rui Yewan was half lying on the floor with his hand clutching his chest in pain as he glared at the man. Breathing heavily he propped himself up until his body leaned against the wall with no fear in his eyes.
It was as though he had prepared himself for whatever was to come. As long as his sister, Xiao Yùnqì and Tong Tong got out that's all that mattered.
Qilin Yanjing slashed the dark fog with his green flames again and again but it wouldn't cut through. Angered he strode over clutched his collar and lifted him up while demanding, "Open it or you will die," with his spit spraying all over Rui Yewan's face.
Rui Yewan was so disgusted that he turned his face away and slowly pulled out something from his storage ring. "Old, old man," he said giving Qilin Yanjing the impression that he was about to beg for mercy but he was absolutely wrong. This kid was indeed ballsy.
With a shaky hand, Rui Yewan grinned while asking, "Would you like mint candy. It's, it's good for your breath."
Qilin Yanjing, "????"
THUD!
Rui Yewan's body was harshly thrown to the ground head first and because the force used was extreme he passed out on the spot. The walls that had been holding Qilin Yanjing back collapsed instantly freeing him.
He took a step forward ready to find his grandson when he saw the mint candy Rui Yewan had mocked him with. The engraving on the candy was very familiar to him. It was the Huishe trademark but how this kid got his hands on it he had no idea.
He knew there was a half breed Huishe on board but how can a ship owned by a Qilin be it half breed, be this involved with a Huishe.
Brushing this thought to the side he began to search for his grandson. While Qilin Yanjing was running around looking for Tong Tong the kid was on deck with Rui Li instructing someone to take these two further away.
As long as Tong Tong was out of the picture it would be one less problem. Tong Tong who had more or less understood the situation was prepared to listen to her but when he saw her rush back to the lower deck to get her older brother he was frightened.
From what he could gather this Qilin came for him and when he was in the lower deck hiding he felt a familiar presence when that vicious green flame struck through the corridor.
He felt drawn to this person but since the Qilin was a bad guy according to Rui Li he didn't approach them. In fact, he was prepared to run.
But now that Rui Yewan and Rui Li were sacrificing themselves to save him his heart wasn't settled. After staying with this crew who treated him like family he had developed a strong attachment. He couldn't in good conscious stand by and let that happen.
So while Xiao Yùnqì wasn't paying attention he rushed downstairs following after her only for him to reach her just as those vicious flames shaped like blades were attacking her.
She had managed to block most of those sharp blades but because the speed was getting faster and faster her flaws were revealed. One of the flame-shaped blades passed through her defences and was aiming for her arm when Tong Tong shoved her out of the way only to get slashed and burnt on his shoulder.
His body arched backwards from the impact as he fell to the ground. "Tong Tong!" yelled Rui Li as she spun her body towards him and dove to catch him. But she only managed to catch air because Qilin Yanjing caught the boy first.
Her body fell to the ground with a dull thud and as she raised her head from the puddle of water she saw Qilin Yanjing embrace Tong Tong before vanishing into thin air.
"Damnit!" she roared as she punched the ground with her fist causing a huge splash. Before she could gather herself she heard Xiao Yùnqì calling out from above the stairs,
"Jie..... where is Wan dage?" he asked his voice a little shaken. Rui Li who had been cursing on the ground quickly got up and ran over to look for her brother.
While Rui Li was rushing to get her brother, the battle in the skies had turned bloody with both sides having suffered from injuries of varying degrees.
For the first time in a long time, Qilin San had been forced to engage half his strength in battle which in his opinion shouldn't have happened.
