"Hey! Captain Zhang, doesn't that belong to you? Hahaha good luck fishing it out of the sea," said Old Du with his hands on his waist.
Zhang Li who was on the poop deck was looking in Red Bane's direction in confusion that is until one of his crew members pointed at his son in the sea. His brows creased as he barked orders. He told that brat to stay clear of Ji Yao but it seemed it fell on deaf ears.
He had managed to keep Zhang Ci under strict watch these past few days which meant there was no intersection between the two but his son had to go on looking for trouble. He felt a headache coming up as his crew lowered the sails while retrieving the ship's anchor.
When he finally pulled his son out of the water he scolded him till the boy's ears hurt. The sound of Zhang Li's roar was heard all the way to Red Bane despite the distance between them. Words like 'getting you married' and 'idiot' were thrown around making Rui Li who was eating peanuts while sitting on the topmast watching a good show laugh herself to tears. She was desperate for entertainment especially after her favourite masterpiece was confiscated.
While Rui Li was entertaining herself, Rui Fei was probing his male god for answers. The way Zhang Ci looked at Ji Yao was like a hungry wolf eager to take a bite. He didn't have any experience in the matters of the heart but even he could read that look with ease.
There was obviously bad blood between the two of them and he was curious to know the history but Ji Yao wouldn't open his mouth. In Ji Yao's defence, what was he supposed to say? 'That guy fondled me and went around town declaring sovereignty over me?'
There was no way he was going to say that to a kid so he ignored Rui Fei. Ji Yao took out the keystone and said, "You want to try it?" This was an attempt to deflect Rui Fei from the subject matter. It seemed to work because Rui Fei smiled as he took it out of Ji Yao's hand.
Their fingers brushed past each other sending electric sparks throughout Rui Fei's hand. And no it wasn't static electricity or that Ji Yao had zapped him but it was the sort of reaction when someone you like holds your hand.
"Just don't touch the keystone you find, I don't want you to get hurt," said Ji Yao with a stern look on his face. What Rui Yewan experienced was horrifying and he didn't want Rui Fei to experience the same thing.
Rui Fei spun the keystone in his hand as he muttered, "Is Yao-ge worrying about me?" Fending off the urge to roll his eyes, he stared blankly at Rui Fei till the boy felt embarrassed. Rui Fei suddenly became serious as he transferred his altered seraphic energy into the keystone but who knew the keystone would reject him. Rui Yewan made this look easy.
"You have to coax it like Wan-er did," said Ji Yao forgetting he was helping the enemy figure it out first.
Rui Fei tried again but instead of coaxing a few rude words and curses were uttered due to frustration. Ji Yao couldn't watch this disaster anymore. "Coaxing..... not cursing but coaxing. Do you even know how to coax? Tsk, give it to me."
Ji Yao took it and began to coax the keystone but instead of learning from it Rui Fei was jealous. Yes, jealous of a stupid rock. The tone Ji Yao used was incredibly soft as though coaxing his way into a lady's pants. How could Rui Fei not feel disgruntled?
"Here now you try it," said Ji Yao giving him back the keystone but he was met by Rui Fei's dumbfounded look. "What?" he asked thinking he had broken Rui Fei. Ruu Fei was absolutely broken just not in the literal sense. This hypothesis was confirmed by what he said next.
"Can you say it to me for educational purposes? I grasp things better that way," explained Rui Fei scooting over.
Ji Yao, "..."
He had unknowingly been baited by Rui Fei and fell for it. Since this was the only way he could get information into Rui Fei's thick skull he agreed. "Lower your voice into a soft whisper and say-," he said but Rui Fei cut him off and said,
"Ahem.... can you whisper it into my ear for authenticity?" He looked like a husky trying to scam snacks from its owner. Ji Yao could feel something was wrong with this entire situation but he couldn't bring himself to say no.
Seeing Ji Yao's doubtful expression he scratched his head seeming all nonchalant as he responded, "It's fine if you don't want to. I mean I can understand that you are afraid I will figure it out first. I get it." This was an obvious tactic to twist Ji Yao's finger but he looked so innocent making Ji Yao think he was the one overthinking things.
"Uh, uh, fine. Come closer," said Ji Yao curling his index finger urging him to come closer. Rui Fei's lips slightly quivered suppressing the smile creeping up the corners of his mouth. He leaned his head towards him and the sweet fragrance from Ji Yao's body sparked a fire at the pit of his stomach.
Ji Yao didn't think much of it as he whispered, "How about you let me in..... I promise I won't hurt you. Be good and show me your secrets." He leaned back but before he could move away his waist was suddenly grasped pulling him back.
Rui Fei seemed to have understood the assignment. His deep gaze swept past Ji Yao's face before he drew closer. Ji Yao froze in place wondering what Rui Fei was doing. His touch was like an electric shock freezing him in place. He could only wait to either adapt or wait for Rui Fei to let him go.
Rui Fei whispered into his ear the exact same words, "How about you let me in..... I promise I won't hurt you. Be good and show me your secrets," with his warm breath brushing against Ji Yao's skin making it hot. "How did I do?" asked Rui Fei with his voice going back to normal like what happened earlier had nothing to do with him.
Ji Yao might have poor social skills and little experience but even he knew Rui Fei was teasing him. He pushed Rui Fei away and stammered, "Ye-yes..... that's fine. Now try it."
He handed the keystone to him before standing up to leave. Half his face was blanched like a cooked lobster and he was in need of air. That brat had gone overboard.
