"But if I stay next to you I... I might hurt you again," he said his heartbeat quickening the longer Ji Yao rubbed his ear. As the stinging pain vanished it was replaced by an itchy feeling that spread from his ear to the rest of his body.
If Ji Yao continues doing this he might end up doing something he would regret and this time they won't be any guarantee that Ji Yao would keep him around.
"We will figure something out just don't avoid me, okay? Let's get this keystone first then will come up with a plan," said Ji Yao with their gazes locked as his hand shifted downwards.
It now rested on Rui Fei's neck with his thumb rubbing the skin right below Rui Fei's ear. How could this kid bear such stimulation? It was as though Ji Yao was begging to be kissed staring at him like that while caressing his skin.
Rui Fei nodded his head as a blush spread from his ear. The slight redness spreading from Rui Fei's ear made Ji Yao think he had hurt him so bad that the pain was spreading to his face. Little did he know that wasn't a blush resulting from pain but a torrent of feelings.
Ji Yao's hand left the side of Rui Fei's neck intending to find some kind of elixir to heal him when his hand was grasped and pulled back to its original position. Perplexed, Ji Yao raised his head and looked at Rui Fei only to hear the teen stutter, "To-touching it..... Ju-just touching it is fine. It will heal this way."
Even Ji Yao knew that logic was so flawed but before he could contest it the crew and concord members returned with a group of people they had captured. Ji Yao turned to look at them his hand leaving Rui Fei's neck.
The emperor was also among them and when he saw his throne being occupied by a pirate, a young one at that, he lost it. Worse of all he was sitting there with his lover desecrating the sacred throne. How could he accept such behaviour?
His golden hairpin was out of place with his strands dishevelled from the struggle earlier. His face was covered in dirt and his robes were torn like he had a fight with a cat and lost. Quivering from anger he bellowed, "Impudence!" while pointing at Ji Yao.
As soon as he uttered such words his face was harshly pushed to the ground. The funny thing was that it wasn't Big Hei, Xunshi Zhe or Zhang Li that did it. They would have loved to do it but someone beat them to it. That person was Rui Li.
She grabbed her estranged grandpa's hair and made him kiss the floor. The imperial guards and servants tried to get up and rescue the son of heaven but they were thoroughly suppressed by a powerful force.
She grinned maliciously as she raised his head and said, "So you are the bastard who created that monster?"
The emperor looked up only to see a little girl with a face an exact replica of his mother. His breath stagnated as he observed her. There was no mistaking it, this little girl had royal blood in her veins. His vicious eyes visibly softened but this only angered Rui Li further.
Grasping the back of his head tighter she pushed his head to the floor with a lot of force that the emperor started bleeding from his forehead. Just as she was about to do it the second time Rui Yewan rushed over and grabbed her.
Kicking and screaming she struggled vowing to end his life. When they arrived at the imperial palace she thought she wouldn't care. She was going to finally see the evil man who created that monster she calls father but she naively thought she wouldn't be affected. Thinking of the Jiejie who raised her in that cold dungeon she couldn't help it.
Since she can't beat her father then she can beat the person who created the conditions that produced that vile man. The emperor sat up in a daze as he watched the little girl get dragged away. When his gaze fell on the boy his heart dropped. That kid looked like him eye shape and all. Rui's children took after his family much more than any of his children from all his concubines combined. How could he not feel anything after seeing them?
Rui Li was so angry that Rui Yewan couldn't hold her back even with his seraphic energy. She actually managed to slip away only to be caught again. Seeing this situation, Rui Fei was forced to step in as the older brother. He leapt down to the bottom of the stairs and glowered at the emperor before grabbing his sister and carrying her out of the hall.
Her unrestrained emotions affected everyone in the hall that for a moment they didn't know what to say. The hall fell into deafening silence as the sounds of the screaming girl slowly died down. The emperor's eyes closed thinking of the boy who eyed him coldly just now.
He looked nothing like him but his eyes were just like Prince Rui's mother. The woman he loved till the day he found out she was one of them. He recalled those eyes with tears flowing out of them like a river begging him not to let her go. She professed her love time and time again but he called her a monster and slapped her across the face. He ruined her with his own hand and coldly watched her hang herself in front of their son.
Now his grandchildren had come back for him partnering with the enemy. His body trembled as his eyes opened looking in the direction of the door.
Ji Yao didn't feel like dealing with this filthy pig any longer than he had to so he said, "These are the consequences of your own making but I am not going to delve into that because you don't deserve to know even their names.... now let's discuss the necklace underneath empress dowager's Pavilion."
The emperor who had been dazedly staring at the door visibly stiffened. Mentioning this necklace was taboo in his family because the story behind it was sinister and bloody. His father only mentioned it to him just in case something happened to his mother in the future.
This responsibility was meant to be passed down from generation to generation so they did be aware of the presence of this necklace and the person imprisoned with it. No one apart from himself and empress dowager knew about it but who would have thought this outsider would know.
When Prince Rui finds out that one of the keystones was under his grandmother's Pavilion this entire time he might explode.
