Chapter 103 - Huishe Xiyue

The emotions and heartache going on inside Rui Fei were hard to comprehend. He had met the man who created the monster who locked him up for more than a decade and his sister had an emotional breakdown as a result. This also resulted in him not being by Ji Yao's side.

He was so terrified when he felt that massive energy that he didn't think twice leaving his sister in Rui Yewan's hands before dashing into the pavilion. In a matter of seconds, he was standing by the door before blasting his way into the tunnel system.

Unexpectedly the place was as silent as a graveyard with no signs of life. He engaged his aether and strode into the nearest channel searching for Ji Yao. The longer he searched the greater his panic with his heart twisting in pain. His entire body was sweating profusely as countless horrible scenarios passed through his mind further destabilizing his sanity.

He was on the brink of losing it and it would only take a single spark to ignite the fumes. That spark was the appearance of the man who had taken Ji Yao away from him.

The ill-informed man had just felt this powerful surge of energy enter the pavilion. The moment he felt it he stopped his actions retrieving his seraphic energy into his aether. That seraphic energy he felt earlier was not only familiar to him but was also of great significance to his entire clan.

It might have been mixed with impurities but the source was unmistakably from a golden aether belonging to his family. Sensing the aggression of the immature cub he withdrew in himself trying to figure out a way to approach him without starting a conflict. But the moment he showed up he realised there was no way of resolving this peacefully.

The cub was inexperienced and hadn't fully awakened which meant he was ruled and controlled by his emotions. Rui Fei's mindset at this moment was that this man took someone very important to him hence the Nocru should pay the price thus he charged towards him without giving him any chance to speak.

The Nocru knew the seriousness of this matter. If he didn't fight back and subdue this baby Huishe then he would most likely die in one blow. Rui Fei's body was surrounded by a grey fog with his eyes as red as blood as he launched an attack.

The Nocru who was on a collision course with the enemy activated his aether and met the kid head-on resulting in a massive back clash. The Nocru crashed straight through the tunnel wall landing into a pile of carcasses while Rui Fei hit his back against a boulder which crumbled into pieces.

Rui Fei immediately got up from the ground and made a move to attack again resulting in the two of them engaging in an endless battle. They weren't even fighting at full capacity because each of them had a fair share of latrion in their systems preventing them from reaching their full potential.

The locked up Huishe was given an overdose of latrion when he was locked in this place and these talismans on the wall in the room with the necklace weren't ordinary talismans. In fact, they had undertones of the language of Niuq preventing him from leaving even if he could break out. Whoever locked him in here was a true enemy with no desire to let him go.

As for Rui Fei, well, we know his experience with latrion was no good thing either. Despite functioning at a third of their true ability the two fought like it was the end of the world. The destruction was no joking matter either.

The two wore each other out after battling it out for over two hours. Rui Fei was especially ruthless in his attacks sending the man flying through the tunnel walls till he landed in a structured room with a pedestal holstering a necklace.

While the man struggled to get up with a face covered in blood, Ji Yao strode in with his back hunched from exhaustion. His head hung low with his damp hair from all the sweat sticking to his forehead. The redness in his eyes was dimming as blood trickled down his nose.

With each step he took, the Nocru covered in blood and dirt crawled backwards with his hand raised as though trying to stop him. Rui Fei was exhausted but he wanted to finish him off regardless. But as he drew closer and closer he found four people lying unconscious with chains on their feet.

The fierce expression on his face suddenly changed to that of worry as he rushed over to the unconscious Ji Yao. The man lay unconscious with his back against the wall as blood seeped at the top of his forehead. He had been hurt during the confrontation.

Rui Fei knelt before Ji Yao as he reached out with his trembling hands to touch his face. When he realised his hands were filthy he stopped and roughly wiped them on his garments while calling out softly. "Yao-ge... Ya-Yao-ge," he said as the redness in his pupils vanished. There was a ripple of emotion in his dark eyes as uncontrollable tears flowed down his cheeks.

He then reached out to touch Ji Yao but the culprit who had been silent all this time suddenly spoke. "What are you doing?" he asked with a horrified look. This kid couldn't be serious. Despite their conflict in battle, the Qilin were solely responsible for them being in this godforsaken world in the first place so why would this cub willingly interact with one to the point of tears. He couldn't understand.

Since Rui Fei had found Ji Yao there was really no need to keep this Nocru alive. He got up from the ground intending to strike him down. The two stared at each other with one half lying on the ground weakly and the other towering over him. That's when the Nocru took a good look at the cub's face.

His expression turned to that of shock before drastically changing to that of heart-wrenching grief. "Yue, Yue-er... Xiyue," he mumbled with a tear escaping his distraught eyes. He wiped his eyes with his filthy hands as though scared that his eyes were deceiving him.

Rui Fei's steps faltered with a lost expression on his face. Who was Xiyue and why did this person say that name after looking at his face with an aggrieved look?

"Where is she?... Your mother, where..... Ta-take me to her," he said as he got on his knees almost begging. The wasted years of being trapped under this pavilion were apparent but the moment he knelt it seemed like his lifespan had been cut in half.
