Chapter 82: Wil's suspicions

Name:War Online Author:Snowstar
"I believe that the mastermind behind our enemies is Dreamwalkers guild."

"What!!!"

Even Wil was surprised upon hearing that their supposed ally is the hidden backer of their enemies.

SupremeMaster opened his mouth, "can you tell us on what ground you suspect them? It is well known to us that Dreamwalkers are good allies to Silvershapers.

I heard that many members of the Dreamwalkers guild are helping them leveling up and even lending their kitchens, smithy, and labs.

In return, Silvershapers' products are sold in their stores. Even we are selling our gains from the wild and dungeons through them as they are charging less commission for allies.

Honestly, I was actually going to propose today to let them into our alliance but I can't believe hearing out that they are the enemies' leader. It's just too much for us…"

Upon hearing a part of it, as Wil frowned in displeasure, Aster nodded, "yes, that's where the suspicion starts. You see, for the past few days, we have observed the members joining Resistance faction guilds becoming stronger for no reason.

I mean, it's fine if they level up too fast but something is fishy if the average strength of a guild increases too fast. Many of average level players suddenly get to have good equipment and high attack power.

I believe a portion of Augment stones, potions, and the special food members of Silvershapers craft as well as the weapons and materials you sold are being sent to our enemies.

The tremendous rise in strength of Hellguards and Swiftmane is also very suspicious. Moreover, not everyone can keep so many guilds together."

"How long you need to confirm it?" Wil asked with a serious expression.

Aster raised 3 fingers, "just give me 3 more days, Young master. I'll confirm whether it's true or not."

Wil nodded, "fine. Is there anything else you would like to add before I proceed to talk?"

Aster then replied, "There is one more thing. This one is also not confirmed yet though. I heard a rumor that they are planning to merge to become a big guild."

Heavenly King, the leader of Heaven nodded in agreement, "yes, I too heard about it."

Wil then turned towards others as he shook his head, "Nah, that's unlikely. If its mastermind is Dreamwalkers, then, they won't allow the guilds to merge and become a competition to them.

Anyway, let's stop focusing on how to defeat them but focus on how to increase our overall strength, shall we? Now, let me tell you how I'll increase our strength. The building of Scarlet district."

One hour later, as the meeting ended, everyone went their ways with a clear satisfaction on their faces, not just because they have heard of Wil's plan of building a district but also they gained nearly 150K exp in free.

After everyone left, Wil asked Aster coldly, "what is the meaning of this, Aster? I clearly mentioned not to take their plots. What is Mountain Rock doing?"

Aster replied with a sigh, "its evitable, Young master. Silvershapers is a guild with 16K players just from our city. You can say every non-combat player in East Ocean City joined our guild.

It's not like everyone can afford to spend money to train and craft in NPC ones.

As an ally, Dreamwalkers were providing them the space to train and craft the items for free. It's obvious that few people will ignore the orders and we only have suspicions on Dreamwalkers guild.

There isn't a reason for them to not accept their help"

"Fine, I understand. It won't take long anyway. You heard my plan, don't you? I need a team of best Architects you can find by the end of the week. Make a call to HQ and let them get to work quickly," ordered Wil before going to the Mayor's office on the ground floor.

Unlike the office at the administration building, this one was spacious and nicely decorated with paintings, a fake head of an antler, a wall clock, and a large calendar on the wall. Even the material of the desk is of great quality with a similar dent on top.

Coming to the calendar, Wil saw there's a tick mark on 30th June and 2 hours was written on it. Upon placing the Mayor's badge in the dent on the table, a tick mark automatically appeared on July 1 and a stack of papers appeared on the table.

Looking at it, Wil mumbled, "I guess it's Mayor's attendance sheet. Well, it doesn't matter if I don't work since my salary is only 5 gold per week" and then he turned his eyes towards the papers, "even though this work can be completed by the administration but since I'm here, why do I need to give my authority to them. Let's see…"

Wil took a seat and took a paper in his hands. Upon reading it, he mumbled, "A petition to increase the price of barley? Ugh… I know nothing about it. Let's put it aside and see the next one…

A petition to decrease the price of millets… Don't tell me all of these are related to farming?"

After a while, Wil slammed the table in frustration, "I'm a Mayor for god's sake. What's with these petitions to increase or decrease the price of barley, rice, millets, wheat… Sigh… I guess I need to appoint a knowledgeable secretary to take care of it."

He immediately opened Mayor's interface and clicked on the system's announcement.

*Ding. Do you want to make an announcement for the whole town or players?

Wil snorted, "Who would want a player as a secretary…"

Wil directly clicked the whole town.

*Ding. Please write what you wish to announce.

"Town's Mayor wishes to hire an assistant with a salary of 2 gold coins per week. Interested people can head to the administration building to register your resume."

Originally, to hire someone, Wil can ask the administration department and the elves will take care of the process but he should go to the administration building in the first place. Not to mention, it might take a while for them to recommend the candidates. So, he took a faster route instead.

Upon hearing the announcement, several residents rushed to the administration buildings to hand over their resumes since 2 gold coins of salary is pretty much high. After all, even the elves in the administration department only get 1 gold coin in comparison to the elves in the city that get 5 gold.

Looking at the applications before her, Syvis sighed, "if not for the low staff in the administration department, even I would have applied for it."

Meanwhile, Wil left the office and went to the 2nd floor. Upon sitting on the bed and started to enjoy the free exp, he opened the letters and tried to solve the mystery of the letters to find the hidden ally.

After reading all the letters, Wil deduced at the end of the day that it was might be Lord Raziel in the end who was trying to help her from behind the scenes.

The reason Wil suspected the Archangel is because he's an Ascended.

"There's nothing in the kingdom that can be hidden from his eyes. According to the promise he made with the past king, Mirella became King because Raziel thinks she's worthy. That means he has a reason to help her.

The other suspect is the prime minister himself. According to the story I saw, he indeed thinks she's his precious granddaughter.

After all, he's a good guy who cares about the lives of the people of the Kingdom and even requested the past King to release Raziel.

A person like that will feel guilty even if he found out her birth secret and planned to kill the king.

But, the biggest mystery is that why did he stop sending letters after Mirella became the King. It's definitely not because of security. There must be another mystery behind it. Maybe, that person died?

Argh… Why short circuit my brain over it. Let's just copy the contents and send it to HQ along with the recording of the story. They'll take care of it."

Two days passed away in a blink of an eye. In the past two days, Wil just roamed every inch of the town and learn everything he should know.

He met the store and food stall owners to learn how their business fairing in the town, then, he met Guild leaders of Boomerang and Jadebeards as a formality.

He even made a trip to East Ocean city once to try buying plots of land that are reserved only for Earl and above but Melina rejected him politely as he wasn't a citizen of the city anymore and further replied the restrictions will be lifted once he became a Marquis, which motivated him to focus on leveling once the construction of District is completed.

On the morning of the third day, Wil didn't log in and went down to the 9th floor to check up on Cericia, instead.

He saw four guards were standing at the door. Upon seeing him, they bowed and greeted him.

"Open it," Wil ordered as he stared at the door.

They nodded and unlocked it for him. As the door opened, Wil stepped inside the room and saw there's a neatly dressed female bodyguard, and disheveled Cericia sitting on the floor playing some board game together.

It's clear to anyone that they were playing for several hours and the latter was on the losing end…

A laugh escaped from Wil as he commented, "Looks like you are having fun, my dear fiancée."
