In the treasury room of the Imperial palace, a sword was glowing, giving off a majestic aura as soon as it was revealed.
The legendary grade equipment in the treasury started to vibrate as if they are bowing down to their King.
"Imperial sword?" Even an Archangel like Raziel exclaimed, not expecting it to fall under the hands of this adopted Prince.
Unlike other equipment, the Imperial sword is special. It doesn't accept anyone except the one that it was passed onto by the previous owner.
And the owner only has one destiny. To become the King of Llyne.
It has been that way for 2000 years and it will be that way forever. It is something none has the right to change, not even the guardian.
"I thought it disappeared after the death of his majesty. It looks like his majesty passed the Imperial sword to you. Congratulations, your highness," Raziel spoke with a slight bow.
Wil was surprised by the change of his tone. After all, this is the first time this old man addressed him with such respect.
Excitement grew in Wil's heart, thinking his major hurdle disappeared and soon, the entire Llyne will be his to control.
But the happiness doesn't last long as the Archangel proceed to speak, "but, you don't possess the right to become the Ruler, yet, your highness."
Raziel raised his hand and the crown flew towards him before falling into his hands, turning Wil's happiness into displeasure.
Wil frowned, "what do you mean by that? I'm the Crown Prince and I'm also the owner of the Imperial sword. What else should I have to get the rights?"
"I didn't say that you don't have the rights to become the King. I'm just saying that you don't have the right to become the ruler" Raziel replied in a calm tone causing a moment of confusion in Wil before he cleared it with an explanation.
"Even if you become the King, you can't rule the kingdom of Llyne as her highness Rikilda Llyne acquire the Kingdom by a rebellion.
So, tomorrow, the moment I coronate her as the Queen with this crown, she'll decide whether you will remain as the crown prince."
Wil, who doesn't know the traditions of monarchism thought everything will be fine as long as he gets the crown.
The system will appoint him as the King, changing everyone's behavior just like how it did when he became the Crown Prince.
But, now, upon realizing the reality, Wil felt as if he was slapped on his face.
Gritting his teeth, he asked, "Then, why don't you help me out? With your help, I can become the King."
Raziel shook his head firmly, "I apologize, your highness, but I took an oath not to interfere in the politics of the throne.
If she isn't a royal family member, I would have helped you but since her highness is the sister of his late King, I can't go against the oath."
Even though Wil expected the reply, but, hearing the rejection on face made him frustrated to the bone.
After all, he is born in a family where every wish is granted quickly as soon as he asked.
Seeing his continuous rejection made him remember those painful three years' worth of memories of getting beaten over and over by Bran, Magi, Wisdom Queen, etc…
He clenched his fist in frustration as he knew that he doesn't have the strength to beat up this old man.
Even he has the strength, the treasury is a no-combat zone where players can't use their skills or deal damage to anyone.
It was at that moment, Averil who was watching the scene from inside him decides to take action.
'Lad, forget about the King. Did you forget about what we are here for?' A whisper was heard in his head.
'Ah! That's right. I'm not here to become the King but to take revenge on that bi**h and to teach the lesson to that guild' Upon Averil's reminder, Wil, who momentarily forgot about his goal because of the crown, dispelled his stupid thoughts and smiled.
'Hmm?' Raziel, who was observing his expression, was taken aback by the sudden change, 'What is this kid planning to do?'
"Okay, fine. I'll legitimately acquire the crown. I hope you don't have any problems if I take other items from the treasury, right?" Wil asked the old man, maintaining the smile.
"Ah! Yes. Sure…" Raziel replied in reflex before realizing the hidden meaning behind the smile, "don't tell me, your highness is planning to empty the treasury?"
Wil gave a nod, brimming with a smile, "Rikilda will only become the King, at the dawn of tomorrow. There's no Prime Minister either.
And I'm still the Crown Prince of this kingdom. That means, right now, I have the greatest authority, right?"
Raziel nodded in response.
"Using my authority as the crown prince, I hereby order you turn a blind eye to my actions and lock yourself up in your room, until tomorrow.
You can take back the crown with you to coronate Rikilda."
As soon as Wil spouted the words, the engravings on the Imperial sword in his hand shined, giving him the look of a King in the eyes of the old man.
This time, he bowed deeply before replying, "I accept."
Without waiting a moment any longer, Raziel turned around and started to walk away.
Just before he was about to exit the room, Wil spoke, "since you won't take either side, I hope you will stay neutral unless you feel she's worthy of the throne."
Raziel stopped in his tracks and replied without turning around, "that goes without saying your highness."
As he disappeared from the treasury to follow the Crown Prince's order, meanwhile, Wil flexed his fingers and a hysterical laugh escaped from him, looking at all the gold coins.
"Hehehe… There must be more than a million gold coins here.
Even if we go by the current standard exchange rate of 750 credits to 1 silver, it's still atleast 7.5 Billion Dollars in total. With Legendary equipment, the overall price will cross 10 Billion dollars."
Wil took a gold coin in his hand in excitement and immediately, the system sent him a notification of warning to pour water on his expectations.
*Ding! The gold coin is the property of the Imperial Palace. Stealing it will make the gold coin into locked gold and can't be stored in the system Bank.
'Ugh… Sure enough. The defensive mechanism won't let me take advantage of it.
I can neither exchange it for money nor can I keep it in a bank.
I can't also keep it in my bank to give loans to others since there's a chance of them storing it in a system bank.
But, with such an amount of gold, my plans can be put forward without any issue
Wait a second.
If even a gold coin has such restrictions, what about the Legendary grade equipment?'
Wil then walked towards a small round shield and inspected it first.
Llyne's shield of Honor
Grade: legendary
Class: Knight, Paladin
Level: 320
HP: 838 million
Defense: 102 million
Crt. Resist: 80%
Equipment Skill: Decreases the incoming damage by 10% whenever the shield blocks the attack.
"Oh, this is one decent shield…" Wil commented as he picked it up, only to receive another system notification of a warning.
*Ding! The equipment is the property of the Imperial Palace. Stealing it makes the equipment unavailable to use or sell. Only an NPC can use the equipment.
