"You wish to be my disciple?" Owler was taken aback by Wil's request.
"Yes, I've met a lot of strong people in my life and even a few Ascended but I've never seen a Seer. Please, grant my request." Wil again cupped his fist with a bow in a respectful manner.
Clearly, he wasn't expecting that.
Since Astaria Island is a place that's out of the game's progression and Wil was being treated as an NPC, instead of the immortal from another world, he didn't expect that his level is already being exposed to Wil.
After all, the players' inspection skills are far higher than NPCs.
While NPCs can judge a person/beasts level and grade, a player can even see one's HP and a brief description that explains their background story.
Feeling sincerity from Wil, Owler stroked his beard for a couple of seconds, and replied, "Prince Llyne, You are the savior of Athledon. I don't mean to disrespect you but I can pass my teachings to only one disciple.
We have only met once and aren't properly acquainted. How can I entrust you with the power of seeing the future? What if you use it to bring destruction onto the world?"
Wil, who already expect such a reaction from this old man, answered with a smile, "I will show you something. Perhaps, it will help you gain trust in me."
Wil decided to reveal his secret. A secret that was only known to him and High-Elf Aerona, of course, player 'One' too but Wil doesn't know that 'One' knows his secret.
Owler saw an exquisite bow appeared in Wil's hands. He felt an ancient and majestic aura erupting from it.
"This bow…" Owler carefully inspected after Wil handed it to him. Since the bound equipment can never be transferred, he didn't worry about giving it to the old man.
The old man saw symbols of a dragon as well as engravings of the sun and moon on it.
*Thud*
The bow slipped his hands and fell on the table while Owler took a step back in shock.
He looked at him and asked, "This bow contained the power of dragon clan and also the spirit of demigod, Seraph. Just who are you?"
"I'm the successor of Archangel Seraph." Wil then took out a ring from his left finger and placed it on the table. "This is another proof if you are still wondering whether I was saying the truth."
Owler examined the ring with a sun and moon symbol engraved on it. This time, he clearly sensed the aura of demigod emitting from the ring.
"As for the power of dragon clan…" Wil then, transformed into a humanoid dragon for a second before dispelling his transformation but it is enough for an Ascended like him to see it clearly "It's because I'm also a part dragon. Half-Angel and Half-Dragon to be exact."
Owler misunderstood that one of his parents is an Angel and the other is a Dragon. He wondered which crazy Angel fell in love with a destructive beast like a dragon.
"As the successor of demigod Seraph, it is my duty to protect the world from Lucifer and for it to happen, I need your help. I request you once again… Please make me your disciple."
This time, Owler completely believed him.
Wil knew the specialty of the legend class. They don't just give strong skills. Each Legend-class user will be favored by Ascended like him.
He thought it might also be the reason bran might have acquired Seer abilities.
As Wil expected, the moment he exposed his identity, Owler's impression of him changed drastically. The best proof of that is the notification received by Wil.
*Ding! Your familiarity with Kenneth Owler increased by 30
The familiarity suddenly jumped to 50, reaching a level where one NPC will have a good impression on the player and ask personal quests, often.
The old man returned the bow and the ring to Wil and cupped his fists in return, "it will be my honor for Seraph's successor to choose me as the master. I'll teach you everything I have."
*Ding! You receive a quest, Owler's Disciple.
Description: Kenneth Owler, a renowned Seer of the Athledon kingdom wishes to accept you as his disciple. Do you accept Kenneth Owler as your master?
Rewards: Seer profession.
As a crown prince, he can't kowtow to anyone but a king or an Emperor; so, he bowed and cupped his fists as a way to acknowledge him as his master, "Master."
*Ding! You completed the quest, Owler's disciple.
*Ding! A second profession, Seer has been added to your character.
*Ding! Congratulations on becoming the 19th player to unlock a second profession. You receive 100 fame points as a reward.
*Ding! Congratulations on becoming the first player in the world to acquire one of the ten unique professions. You receive 5000 fame points as a reward.
"Oh! I was the first to acquire the unique profession?" Wil was really surprised by this notification as he didn't expect to be the first one.
"Cool… With earlier 10K and now, 5K, I still need 41900 fame points to raise my raise to Duke."
Just like a legend or hidden classes, there are also odd non-combat professions like Seer that can only be acquired from an Ascended NPC like this old man. They are called unique professions.
Farmer, Miner, builder, Seer, Dungeon creator, thief, transmutator, Inventor, treasure hunter, and Scroll maker. These are the ten unique non-combat professions and each profession can only be chosen by one person.
On top of that, one has to be an inheritor of some powerful NPC, or else, they won't be able to appease these Ascended NPCs and acquire the class.
Wil isn't actually interested to choose this job because he is someone from the future and doesn't need to be a Seer to know the future content beforehand.
But, if he misses this opportunity, he knew Bran will be the one to acquire it. He can't let it happen no matter what.
That's why, even though Wil was interested in a job like a dungeon creator or scroll maker, his enmity forced him to choose it.
Wil checked out the Character menu.
Two holographic screens appeared before him. He closed the first one with the stats and examined the second one.

'Looks like it's going to be mana demanding…' Wil thought as he stared at the skills. 'But that divination will be very useful to locate someone.'
Just then, Owler brought him back from his thoughts.
"As a Seer, the most important thing that you need to have is the Ball of Prophecy. Without it, you can't predict anything. Go and gather these materials." Owler gave him a quest.
*Ding! You receive a quest, Material gathering.
