Chapter 240: World Auction part-3: Mysterious key fragment

Name:War Online Author:Snowstar
The auction continued.

While Wil bid several items for Evie or Akiko, until the auction reached the top 10 items, never once he bid for himself.

It's not like he doesn't want to but there's nothing that he finds useful to him.

There's even a legendary grade beast egg that was auctioned but Wil didn't even try to bid it.

Beast eggs with less potential than his Leon are quite useless to him. He's already feeding half of his acquire EXP to his bow, doesn't want another baggage.

So, he waited.

Amelia, the Host spoke with a smile, "now, for the grand finale. But, before that…"

Seven boxes were brought onto the platform.

"There are seven such items that we can't group up with other player auctioned items.

The rules are slightly different for these items.

Each one has a different starting bid price and some of them have a buyout price as requested by the players. But, we assure you that the prices are worth."

Looking at the boxes, Wil was surprised. According to his memory, it was supposed to be only 4 of them but now, there are seven.

The guard brought the first box and placed it in front of her.

She clicks the button on top of it and it opens, revealing a simple key.

Everyone frowned as soon as they looked at a simple golden key.

Wil clicked on the item and saw the description.

Mysterious key fragment

Grade: legendary

Description: One of the three fragments to open the mysterious box.

"What!" Wil suddenly sprung from the sofa, surprising Akiko and the other two.

'The key fragment?' Wil remembered he received the Mystery box when he completed the quest and then, one of the fragments when the Athledon kingdom has been revived.

He wasn't surprised that there's a key fragment in the auction. What he was surprised at the level of importance the system gave it to the key.

He immediately understood that this change is because he revived the Athledon kingdom way before it was supposed to be...

He already threw a mountain in the sea, large waves ought to generate.

Either way, Wil decided to acquire this key at all costs. Earlier, when he saw it before, it seemed like a simple jewelry box embedded with jewels but now, Wil realized the box might have something heaven-defying item inside of it.

With possessing two key fragments, he would then only need to find the last one to open the mystery box to unveil its mystery.

As for the VIPs, although their responses weren't as exaggerated as Wil, they also were surprised to see the starting item was such a thing.

They wondered if the key fragment itself is a legendary grade, what would be the Mystery box's grade will be like.

"We can't reveal the details but I can say it's worthless and at the same time, most expensive depending on the owner who acquires it." A.I. Amelia explained it with a smile.

"The starting bid is 500 gold coins. You can raise the bid with 50 gold coins or 100. There's no buyout price."

Wil quickly pressed + on the remote.

"E14 bids 550 gold coins."

Everyone glanced towards the fifth-floor.

Meanwhile, Akiko, who was taken aback in surprise looking at her fiancée, who was disinterested in all the items until now suddenly took an interest in this key fragment.

It must some special key.

'Does he knows its origins?' Akiko can't help but suspect Wil considering the things he had done in the game.

At the same time, on the seventh floor, room no.2, (G2) Shihei became curious as he checked his message. "Oh! Mr. Ravens is the one who bid it? Interesting."

Upon hearing his words, Kiyumi was taken aback, getting to the same conclusion as Akiko. "Uncle, are you thinking what I am thinking?"

Shihei nodded in affirmation. "No doubt about it."

Meanwhile, the other VIPs also became interested. They started raising the bid.

"C27 bids 600 gold coins." Amelia continued to announce. "A12 bids 650 gold coins."

Wil frowned as he was outbid so quickly. He pressed the ++ button.

"E14 bids 750 gold coins."

In the 27th room of the third floor, a young man frowned as the bid was raised by another 100 too quickly. Even he thinks Wil was crazy to spend such an amount.

It was none other than Martial Scholar, who competed with Wil back during the first system auction at East Ocean City.

"C27 bids 800 gold coins."

With not even a second passed, Wil once again raised the bid.

"E14 bids 900 gold coins."

"C27 bids 950 gold coins."

"E14 bids 1050 gold coins."

"C27 bids 1100 gold coins."

"E14 bids 1200 gold coins."

The auction house became silent.

The people on the ground floor started to wonder how crazy are these VIPs. 1200 gold coins are like 180 thousand dollars. One can even buy an apartment with such an amount.

Moreover, it's just a key fragment. Not even a key.

The last item, a level-200 legendary grade dagger is sold for 800 gold and they thought that certain VIP likes to squander.

On the other hand, Akiko already concluded that he knew about the key fragments.

"1200 gold coins… Anyone else…" Amelia looked around, specifically towards the third floor of the VIP section.

Although a lot of VIPs can afford to waste such an amount, they didn't step out to save money for the upcoming items. Many of the giant guilds are aiming for the top ten items. So, they have to save as much as they can.

"1200 once, 1200 twice," *Ting* "Sold"

"Congratulations No. E14 for acquiring the mysterious key fragment."

Martial Scholar smiled, thinking of how he cleverly made the VIP in the E14 room spend 1200 gold coins. 'After this, he wouldn't have too much money. So, that's one less competition.'

If Wil would knew his thoughts, he would have laughed and say, "How foolish are you..."

Meanwhile, the GMs, who are watching the auction, are all smiles to see a huge deal.

They are extremely happy as the system would get 20% of the auction fee.

Before the auction started, their CEO announced that all the commissioned items gained from the players are converted into currency and then, distributed as a bonus for Summersoft Employees.

So, they were excited.

***

*Ding! 1200 gold coins are deducted from inventory.

*Ding! You received a key fragment. Please check out the inventory for details.

After receiving the notifications, Wil then opened the inventory and saw the golden keys are stacked in one slot, which means they are indeed the same one.

"Big brother, what is that key?" Evie suddenly asked him with curiosity. It's not because she suspected him to know of it or she thinks 1200 gold is a big amount. She was simply curious about it.

"let's just say it's worth is a lot more than 1200 gold coins to me."

Akiko who also wanted to ask him now became silent. She got her confirmation.

Evie on the other hand had a big smile, "that means you profited right?"

Clearly, her brain works differently. Maybe it's due to her age.

Wil nodded in response before concentrating on the next item that was revealed.

It was a purple scroll.

Wil clicked on it and saw the details.

Player City Scroll

Description: You can build a player city with 100 sq.km of area. Cannot place it outside of your kingdom.
