A week ago, Maple Academy;
In the first floor corridor, Hyunjoo was walking with her classmate, carrying books to the staffroom. Just as both of them reached the stairs, two boys were running down the stairs.
Hyunjoo saw one of them lost control about to collide with her. So, she abruptly turned around to dodge it. However, she accidentally tripped her leg and the books were slipped her hand.
Meanwhile, another shocking thing occurred that seems to be crafted straight out of a high school drama.
At the same moment, Rey and his deskmate were climbing up the stairs from the ground floor and they just reached the first floor before Hyunjoo fell on him.
Rey quickly caught her, wrapping his left hand around her waist, and protected himself by grabbing the staircase railing by his right.
Both of them inclined a bit for a few seconds and looked at each other. Their faces are so close that they were able to see their reflection inside the other person's eyes. At those few moments, she felt as if the time ran slowly. She stared at him, blinking her eyes for every second.
Looking at the scene, her friend's eyes widened and she closed her mouth with her hands.
Unlike Hyunjoo, Rey came back to his senses very quickly and quickly freed her after finding stability below his foot, "Are you alright?" He asked her.
She nodded vigorously before she started to take the notebooks. Rey offered his help by crouching down.
As he handed a couple of notebooks, Hyunjoo quickly take them and ran upstairs in embarrassment.
Three days later, he received a notification from school about joining the club before the 31st of the month.
His deskmate suggested the swimming club where he is a member. Coincidentally, as he was a member of the swimming club in his past school, Rey agreed to it right away.
Upon hearing the coach is at the pool, both of them made their way towards the swimming pool.
As the school timings are over, the pool is empty, and yet, both of them heard whistles and the instructions as they neared.
"The competition is getting near. Just stick with inward 2 ½ somersaults."
"Coach, it will only make me go through qualifiers. To get an edge over other competitors, I need to do this." The girl seemed to be stubborn about it.
"Okay, fine. I'll just give one last chance. If you fail, then, that's it."
As soon as they entered the area, Rey's eyes fell on the girl that was standing at the edge of the diving board which is placed at least 10 meters above the surface of the water.
She was facing her back and strength her arms upward.
*Whistle*
As the coach whistled, she jumped up and twisted her body as she was high above the board and rotated once. As she came down, she somersaulted two times and dived straight into the pool.
"OMG! Jiwon-ssi succeeded in doing Back 2 ½ Somersault and 1 ½ twist?" His deskmate Kim Jongsu exclaimed while looking at her.
"Coach, I did it." The girl came up to the surface of the water and grinned. "I did it, this time."
"Well, I guess you have it in you, after all. Okay, then. Do it one more time and…" The Coach asked for a retry to see whether it's just luck before she turned her head towards the direction where the sound came from.
Rey was also seemed to be surprised. Not about her feat as he knew nothing about diving aside from jumping from the diving board. After all, his past school didn't have a separate diving club, and neither did he attend any tournaments.
"Oh! It's that girl…" Rey remembered the first year pretty girl he collided, three days ago. "So, her name is Jiwon, huh. It seems like she's also a member of this club?"
"Kim Jongsu, don't you know that outsiders aren't allowed here." A frown appeared on her face. "And where have you gone after skipping the practice. Do you want to get kicked out?"
Unlike Jiwon's situation, where the coach was kind and understanding, she was fierce while she was talking to Rey's deskmate.
He then introduced Rey to the coach as the transfer student and is willing to join the club.
"Do you have any experience?" The coach asked Rey.
Rey shook his head, "I only know swimming techniques like freestyle, butterfly and backstroke."
"Then, you should apply for the swimming club." The coach commented right away. "You are already 3rd year. So, if you a beginner, then, we would have to waste 3 months training you. There are only 7 and half months left. Your last two months will be spent studying for final exams.
So, there will be hardly 10 weeks that you will be able to dive with your fellow club mates. Now, do you understand what am I saying?"
Upon getting rejected by the coach, Rey joined the soccer team as he didn't want to see her face in the swimming club again.
Present;
After that, Rey saw them once again at Airport. He didn't expect that they are twins, not one. It left him in wonder whether he met two different persons or the same person. If they are the same, then who is it?
"These are my friend's… I mean, Hyori's parents." Wil introduced them to Scarlet. "This is um…"
As he pointed to one of the twins, he stopped and then, looked at her carefully. Both of them wore the same set of clothes, accessories, heck, even their hairstyles are the same.
He moved a step close to the girl that he was pointing. The girl immediately stepped back and grabbed the other twin's arm.
"Yes, um... this is Hyunjoo and this is Jiwon." Wil smile as he figured it out.
However, in the next second, the shy girl that grabbed her twin's arm giggled, "Oppa, I'm Jiwon and this is Hyunjoo. You got fooled by my acting, hehe…"
"Ah!" As Wil blushed in embarrassment, Jiwon's mom grabbed her arm and scolded in a whisper, "Behave, Jiwon. Everything has a time and place. This isn't the place to joke around."
And she then apologized to Scarlet. "Sorry for my daughter's behavior. She can be mischievous sometimes…"
"It's fine…" She waved her hands with a smile, "She was behaving now but my daughter is also very mischievous. Ah! I forgot to even introduce myself. I'm Scarlet. This is my second son, Rey and this is my daughter, Mia."
As Jiwon and Hyunjoo shifted their attention to Rey and Mia, Hyunjoo suddenly put her head down in shyness, remembering the incident. On the other hand, Jiwon pointed her finger at Rey, "I know you. You are the one that got rejected by Coach Bridgette, aren't you?"
"Jiwon…" As her mother glared at her, Jiwon put down her hand and apologized while leaving everyone in confusion.
Jiwon's family quietly stared at Jiwon for constantly embarrassing them. Meanwhile, Scarlet and Mia looked at Rey for an explanation. They wondered whether Rey proposed to some coach and got rejected. Even Wil thought the same.
It seemed Rey realized the situation. He cleared the misunderstanding by explaining the situation to them.
Only then did Wil sigh in relief. Even if he isn't his real sibling, Rey is still his cousin. He can't lose his face in front of outsiders because of him.
