863 Daylight Robbery

Su Mo followed that young Divine Guard named Ge Lin all the way to a city.

This city was named Great Martial City and it was not a big city, just slightly bigger than Yunyang City.

There were many guards guarding the city walls and quite a few of them were also stationed in front of the city gate.

However, these guards were clad in a different armor as compared to the DIvine Guards and there was also a huge difference in their cultivation.

Many martial artists from the surrounding cities also walked through the city gates and their attire had a slight difference as compared to those from the outside world. Their clothes tended to be looser.

Each martial artist walking through the city gate had to show his identification in the form of an iron token. Not just that, but those who entered the city had to present themselves for registration in the city. It was a long and complicated process.

As Su Mo followed Ge Lin into the city, some of the guards stationed in front of the city gates recognized Ge Lin and came forward to greet him.

"Greetings, Divine Guard!"

"What has brought you here?"

The guards paid their respects to Ge Lin, each looking extremely deferential.

Those martial artists that entered the city also looked at Ge Ling with a mix of respect and envy.

Su Mo was surprised to see that these Divine Guards seemed to be very well respected in this place.

He had thought that they were just normal guards with a fancy name.

"I've brought an outsider with me this time. I'll be bringing him to the Mansion of the City Governor for registration!" Ge Lin said proudly.

"Oh! Another outsider?" everyone turned to look at Su Mo curiously.

It has been a year since they had an outsider arrive at their city, so they were all curious to know what he was like.

Ge Lin ignored the crowd and strode into the city since he was exempt from the registration process.

Su Mo quickly followed him into the Great Martial City.

"I wonder how long this outsider will be able to survive?"

"Those outsiders that had entered Great Martial City in the past had either been sentenced to death for flouting our laws or had been tortured to death by our city governor's daughter. I bet this outsider will be no different!"

"I heard that the outside world does not have such strict laws. This explains why the outsiders were always so arrogant and unyielding!"

"Exactly! I wonder what the world is like outside the Mist Mountains!"

Those who heard that Su Mo came from the outside world started chattering excitedly amongst themselves.

Outsiders were looked upon as a different breed all across Divine Martial Country, including the Great Martial City.

As Su Mo walked with Ge Lin into the city, he looked around curiously. The buildings here seemed very antique and simple and looked as if they dated back to the post-archean times.

Great Martial City was a bustling city and there was heavy traffic on the streets with all sorts of shops and stalls lining the streets.

Su Mo was very surprised. Who would have thought that a bustling city like this could have existed here, tucked away in the Mist Mountains? There seemed to be more than one of them too.

"Brother, how many cities are there here in Divine Martial Country? What's the population size like?" Su Mo asked curiously as he sped up to match Ge Lin's speed.

0"You'll know soon enough!" Ge Lin said coldly in reply.

Su Mo stopped probing at Ge Lin's cold response. Since Ge Lin refused to expound more, he was not going to force the issue either.

As he walked alongside Ge Lin, Su Mo thought carefully. He decided he should proceed with caution since he had just arrived here. This Divine Martial Country was more complicated than it seemed, so it would be better for him to follow this Divine Guard's instructions.

Fortunately, he had not discovered any powerful experts in this place. He guessed that there would not be many people here who was stronger than him.

They walked past many streets and Ge Lin finally led Su Mo to a magnificent mansion.

This mansion had an area of at least 6,000 hectares and its buildings were glided with fine gold and coppery tiles. This was the Mansion of the City Governor.

"Greetings, Divine Guard!" the few guards stationed in front of the mansion quickly greeted him with a bow.

"Please tell Governor Bai that I have brought an outsider with me!" Ge Lin said.

"An outsider?"

Some of the guards glanced at Su Mo, then soon, someone entered the mansion bearing this news.

Not long later, that guard returned and said, "Please follow me!"

"Very well!"

Ge Lin brought Su Mo into the Mansion of the City Governor.

They soon arrived at a great hall in the Mansion of the City Governor.

"Please wait for a moment. The city governor will be here soon!" the guard said to Ge Lin.

"Many thanks!" Ge Lin thanked the guard.

After the guard left, only Su Mo and Ge Lin remained in the hall.

Su Mo glanced at Ge Lin and saw that his earlier arrogance had left him. He guessed that the city governor of Great Martial City must be a powerful man.

Since they had nothing to do, Su Mo looked around this great hall.

It was decorated very extravagantly. The roof looked like it was made of white jade, exquisite and elegant. The chairs and table within the hall were lined with the expensive pelt of demonic beasts.

Su Mo did not wait too long before he saw a square-faced middle-aged man walk into the great hall.

He was clad in a loose purple robe, his eyes were sharp and gave off an authoritative and dignified aura.

"Lv 8 Martial Royal Realm!"

Su Moimmediately figured out his cultivation because the aura he emitted was no different from Elder Qi and Master Cui.

He breathed out a sigh of relief. Now that the city governor was only of Lv 8 Martial King Realm, this meant that no one in this city could pose a threat to him.

He may not be able to defeat a Lv 8 Martial King Realm martial artist in his current state, but he did not fear them.

"Greetings, Governor Bai!" Ge Lin greeted the middle-aged man with a fist-palm salute and a bow.

Although he was a Divine Guard of Divine Martial Country and belonged to the guards that reported directly to Divine Martial Emperor, his status was still far below the city governor's.

"You may rise!" the middle-aged man said with a wave of his hand. He then took his place at the main seat.

His sharp gaze landed on Su Mo and he asked seriously, "Is this man the outsider?"

"Yes, Governor Bai!" Ge Lin nodded.

"Very well, you are dismissed." Governor Bai nodded his head and sent him away with a wave.

"Yes!" Ge Lin replied. He then retreated with a bow.

Governor Bai looked at Su Mo and said impassively, "Outsider, our Divine Martial Emperor has extended his benevolence to all outsiders and allowed them to integrate into our society. From today onwards, you shall be part of Divine Martial Country!"

"I understand!" Su Mo said with a slight nod.

He did not think much of this so-called benevolence for he fully intended to leave this place after a few days.

"Since you are one of us now, you will have to abide by our laws. If you break any of them, you will be sentenced to death!" Governor Bai explained slowly.

Once again, Su Mo nodded.

Governor Bai then produced an iron token and a thick book with a flip of his palm.

"This is your identification badge and the law book of Divine Martial Country!" Governor Bai said.

"All citizens of Divine Martial Country must carry their identification badge at all times. Without it, you will find that you will not be able to move around the country. As for this book, it details the laws governing Divine Martial Country."

"Many thanks!" Su Mo said, under the assumption that Governor Bai would give those two items to him.

A smiled flashed past Governor Bai's eyes as he said, "You will need to purchase these two items. They cost a total of 50 million Upper Spiritual Stones!"

"50 million?" Su Mo's eyes narrowed.

How dare this man ask for 50 million Upper Spiritual Stones outright? Wasn't this daylight robbery?
