15 Let's talk business

The seven were dragged back to the front of the huge doors they had stood before just a while ago. Same before, the officer went in first, while the other knights and soldiers around them stiffened and stared at them. Leo looked at the rest of the gang and gave them a secret thumbs up for pulling off the investigation, exactly as intended.

'We are just seven teenagers for god sake!' This was the exact same thought running in heads of the six while Leo was busy planning the next move.

"You seven can go in now. I am warning you one more time, no funny business." The officer's face was in a full-on-serious mode as he stood before the seven with his eyebrows knitted together. The officer nodded at the four knights out of which two of them headed towards the gates, and with a slight touch of their hands, the doors opened.

The seven were surely expecting a grand hall and some kind lord in it, but they truly underestimated its grandeur. The hall was at least 70-75 meters in length and 40-50 meters in breadth. The Knights stood on either side of the path, leading to astern man sitting on a grand chair, at the other end of the room, with a stack of papers and other stuff on his table.

Everyone in the group except Clint had an urge to run at his sight but refrained themselves. All the knights tilted their heads in unison, which made shivers run on the spines of the six with the exception ofClint.

"Sir, these are the seven I told you about." The officer knelt before the man, who was seemingly in his early 40's. He donned a long brown coat with a matching cream colour shirt and dark pants. He had dark brown hair with a caucasian skin tone and looked as if he was an Asian.

'Gulp' The six gulped at the grand sight while Clint's face remained nonchalant. Leo was brainstorming, wondering if he would be able to successfully manipulate the man.

"I am Liam, the protector of this city as well as it's Lord." His words were stiff and one could tell that he was a man with authority.

"I am pretty sure one of you is leading the other six. Step forward." Liam got up from his seat and made his way to the front of the desk and leaned back on it.

The rest of the gang looked at Leo as he stepped forth. Liam walked up to Leo and walked past him after placing his hand on him for a second or two. He did the same with the rest of the six but had different expressions on his face when he touched Leo's and Clint's shoulders.

"Don't worry, you lot. I know you are not dark injectors." Liam's face turned into a relatively pleasant one than before, after he said those words.

"Thank you, sir!" Leo sighed internally as he said those words and his face started to show hints of happiness but immediately turned grim after he heard Liam speak again.

"You seven kids are in luck and also not in luck at the same time."

"Cause I also know that you are not from the northern mountains." Liam's face turned into a smirk and mocking one as he glanced at the seven.

"And thanks for proving it yourself."

"Sir, I don't know you are talki-" Just when Leo was trying to convince Liam he was interrupted by saw the latter look at him with a mocking look.

"You are lucky because I am an elementor who can control the divinity Qi. It is quite rare in nature and because of that, I could say that you had no dark Qi inside you when I touched you. And you are unlucky cause I have another gift." Liam tilted his head to the left. A small glowing symbol was tattooed behind his right ear.

"I have the ability to become ultrasensitive to sounds and because of that, I could sense the increased heartbeat of all seven of you, when I claimed that you were lying." Leo had nothing to counter with, after hearing him speak.

"So let's go over this one more time. Shall we?" Liam looked straight at Leo as if he was peeking into his soul with a serious face on him. Leo knew he was dangerous from the start, anyone would know it just from the pressure of the aura around him. For the first time since they came into this world, Leo saw no way out.

"Alright, sir. But I hope you will believe every word of ours."

"A week ago, while we were on the everyday routine we suddenly got teleported to the forest some kilometres away from here. We don't know how it happened, or why. We just got here in the blink of an eye, that's all. We didn't even know each other before that." Leo blurted out everything except for the most important and probably something people won't believe if he told that they were not of this world.

"I believe you. But where did you all come from?" Liam went back to his seat fascinated with the true story of the seven.

"We all are from different cities of the Earth Kingdom and we didn't have any Qi or any other kind of energy there. Our lifestyle is very different than here, which confused us a lot when we first arrived here." Leo was frank in most of his statements but only manipulated a few minor details.

"Hmm...I see. I can see why the summoner particularly chose you seven. You all have very strong Qi, enough to break a Nex gem. I never heard of such a kingdom though." Liam's pupil contracted as he looked at Leo with doubt.

"That's the truth, like it or not." Leo was pretty confident in his speech as most of what he said was true. The heartbeat of the rest of the gang wasn't abnormal, as it was almost the whole truth.

"Alright then, I will believe everything you said right now. Now let's talk business, shall we, Mr.Leo? I believe you talk for all the seven, right?" Liam's face turned pleasant again as he looked at Leo. Liam was more like a chameleon that changed colours whenever convenient.
