"Why?"
[The reason... You'll have to find out for yourself]
Zhihao suddenly felt his mood go up as he heard this.
This Taki was really an interesting person and Zhihao was hungry to know more.
Zhihao wanted to dig out more information from the bot, but before he could ask his next question, Doji looked back at him with a wide smile, "What are doing? We need to hurry. Come fast."
Zhihao nodded and walked a few steps faster, but the moment the demon turned back again, Zhihao once again slowed down his speed.
"I have one last question.."
[Why the hell are you so filled with questions? Don't you know that curiosity killed the cat?]
Zhihao shook his head, "This is my last question... At least for now."
[Ask.]
"Do Doji and Kazan know each other?"
[Ding~ New hint!]
[Remember when I said that Kazan was a ghost when he first tried to propose to Taki?]
"When he was rejected and looked down upon?"
[There is more to that story.]
[Kazan didn't get rejected because he couldn't even properly propose to Taki.]
[At that time, Taki was in his palace, and Kazan was stopped by the guards. How could they let a lowly ghost enter the palace so freely? They would not let him enter and he made up a commotion in front of the gate.]
[The guards got angry at him and rudely pushed him away as they cursed at him and tried to intimidate him away.]
[At that time, Doji was returning to the palace and saw the guards beating the ghost around. He was suddenly interested in the ghost that seemed to overestimate himself.]
"Did he save him?"
[Save him? Tch- He's not that nice.]
Alvi really seemed to dislike this demon look-alike of Zhihao.
[Doji enquired the guards about why they were beating the poor ghost. Kazan saw a demon who looked exactly like Taki and misunderstood him to be the demon he was after.]
"Did he propose?"
[He did. He said something along the lines of "Demon Taki, I fell in love with you at first sight. I don't care if you reciprocate my feelings or not, I'd be happy with just hanging around you. Please make me your servant."]
[Doji was angered to hear this since he had always seen Taki as his rival. It was a very small thing but to see even a ghost prefer Taki over him even though they shared the same face, he was really agitated.]
[He beat the ghost to a state where Kazan's soul almost dispersed away. At the last moment, Doji seemed to take pity on the ghost and decided to spare his life.]
[Later on, Kazan practiced fighting with the other ghosts and tried to increase his power. The more ghosts he won against, the more powerful he got and the more bruises he collected. He thought he was finally ready to beat a demon.]
[At that time, Kazan only knew the first two ways of how to become a demon, one was by beating a demon and the second was by eating humans. Kazan had no way of finding a human in this world and he didn't have permission to cross the tunnel so he decided to challenge a demon.]
[There is a place that hosts such fights against demons and ghosts.]
[The demons who come to take the challenge are either too bored and looking for fun or are ambitious and want to rise in ranks. The more ghosts they beat, the more power they gain.]
[The ghosts who came to fight were all like Kazan and were here to try their luck and try to become a demon]
[Kazan enrolled himself for a fight and that day, his opponent just so happened to be the demon who had previously almost killed him. Even though Doji looked the same as Taki, this time Kazan knew he wasn't looking at the man he was interested in because after roaming this world for so long, he naturally came to be aware of the existence of Taki's half-brother who looked exactly like him.]
[When Kazan told the other ghosts about the way he was beaten to a pulp by the prince, the other ghosts laughed at him and said that it was probably Doji who beat him. They refused to believe that it was Taki simply because Taki would never do something like this. That man was completely uninterested in ghosts. Although he looked cold and acted indifferently, he was really not someone whom they should be afraid of. Taki was a demon who would hardly be seen around here, he was mostly spending his time in the human world so there was no way he would go through the trouble of beating this small ghost who wasn't even worthy of catching his attention.]
[When Kazan found this out, he was enraged and collected more information on this demon who looked like his crush. He had a bone to pick and what other perfect time would there be?]
[The two fought and Before the fight started, Kazan was sure he'd be strong enough to hold on, he was even so optimistic as to think that he'd win but how could he? He was beaten within a minute.]
[Doji was still too strong for him. He never stood a chance against him. The fight was pointless but once again before he could die, Doji stopped.]
[This was around the time when Doji started getting interested in this ghost that didn't know when to give up. He was impressed with the man's persistence and decided to play with him a bit.]
[He told Kazan about the third method of how to become a demon. He thought the ghost would not be able to do it but even after eating twenty ghosts, Kazan still stood strong and Doji was even more impressed.]
[He was attracted to the ghost's charm.]
Zhihao shook his head as he heard this. How could that be considered charming? If he saw a man, eating twenty ghosts, he would have been so disgusted that he would never want to meet the man again. This demon Doji was certainly twisted in the head. What a psychotic demon.
[Kazan finally completed devouring a hundred ghosts and became a demon. Doji by this time had completely fallen in love with the newly-made demon.]
"What is this love triangle...? Is this a horror genre or a romantic soap opera?" Zhihao commented and was ignored by Alvi who wanted to complete the story.
[Kazan was not interested in Doji, he was completely infatuated by Taki. He had silently watched over the man and the more he got to know about him, the more he fell in love. The more he fell in love, the more he was able to distinguish between the two.]
[Doji was jealous. He had the same face as his half-brother so why was his brother always winning against him in everything? What was he lacking? Why couldn't this Kazan just look at him.]
"Well, he does have a point..."
[He doesn't! If we compare the two demons, you'd be able to see it for yourself. This Doji is too wicked and disgusting, not even qualified to stand in the same place as Taki.]
Zhihao finally understood that Alvi was a complete Taki fan and a Doji anti-fan. This was a bit interesting. Just why did she hate this demon so much? But then again, the things this demon did were certainly not something a good person would do.
[Doji's jealousy only kept growing stronger and stronger. There were various times when he tried to court Kazan but he failed. He tried to use force on the demon but Taki arrived and helped Kazan. Kazan's love grew even stronger and from then on, Kazan started getting closer to Taki.]
[Taki was interested in the demon his half-brother was interested in so he let the man hang around him.]
[The two eventually started to date each other and Doji's jealousy knew no bounds. He did his best to silently move behind the scene and tried to break the two apart.]
[When the two finally broke up, Doji was the happiest person when he heard the news. This was what he wanted and he finally got.]
[Doji decided to make his move on Kazan and apologized for everything he had done to the man. Doji looked at the face that was identical to his ex-lover's so he forgave him and thought the two would be able to become friends.]
[Doji was happy with being the demon's friend. He had a plan that was already put in motion. Slowly, he started to fill Kazan's ears with negative rumors about Taki. He wanted the demon to completely hate his half-brother.]
"So he is the reason why Kazan hates Taki so much?"
[Not really.]
[What Doji told him was really true so it was eventually because of Taki that Kazan hates him.]
"Just what did Taki do?"
[Don't you think I've said too much for the day?]
"..."
[Try asking some other time, I'm tired of all the talking.]
Just how should he kill this bot?
Zhihao walked faster and caught up to Doji. He side-eyed the demon and felt like the two will eventually have to fight. He didn't know if he wanted to, but he had a gut feeling that it was inevitable and he was kinda looking forward to beating this demon's ass. He would not feel bad about killing this one.
Zhihao could feel that Alvi was hiding somethings from Zhihao, something that would make him hate this character even more. Zhihao wasn't too worried, he would eventually find out all the deeds this demon had done and at that time, he could kill him without any second thoughts.
Demon Doji looked back at his half-brother who was glancing at him and smiled. He really thought his brother was the biggest fool, unaware of everything this man had been doing behind his back.
"We are running really late," Zhihao commented.
"This is to be expected from you. When have you ever been on time?" Although he said it in a light-hearted manner, the mockery in his words didn't go unnoticed by Zhihao.
"The clock follows me, why should I follow it?" Zhihao responded rather proudly.
Doji had always hated this man, especially for the man's proud attitude. They were rivals for the throne but his half-brother had never put him in his eyes. Their rivalry was all for fun and games. Everyone could see that Taki was the heir who'd ascend the throne; Doji was just a small fly that lingered around him. A bug that was easily crushable. Although Taki would call him rival sometimes, it was more than clear to him that the man had never seen him as a real rival.
There were times Taki would take pity on this brother of his and help him every now and then. It was the biggest humiliation for Doji who saw it as Taki trying to belittle him.
Taki's intentions were always clear, he had no interest in pondering over how his actions came out as. If he wanted to protect someone, he would and if he wanted to kill someone, he will. His intentions were transparent and it was only Doji who had read too much into it.
Every time, the two brothers were compared, Doji was always the one who got the short end of the stick whereas everyone would be singing the praises of his brother Taki. How could he not hate this man to the core?
He hated him so much that he wished Taki was never born.
The relationship between the two was much more complicated than it appeared to be on the surface. Taki was unaware of his brother's true self. He was oblivious to the hate and jealousy this brother of his had accumulated in his heart.
