"The vampire was supposed to be innocent but the council lied."
"???"
"The people needed to be calmed down and for that to happen, they needed to get rid of the vampire. If there weren't any vampires left, there wouldn't be any problems left. " Elsie sighed as she continued, "The council asked Carmen to bring in the last vampire for questioning and in order to prove her innocence, he agreed, but on the day of the trial, Carmen came back alone and asked the council what their plan was. He somehow got to know about their plan to plead the vampire guilty and kill her on the scene no matter if she was innocent or not."
Li Ling kinda guessed it to be something like this.
All of the levels were created by A.L.V.I. and this was her signature style.. To wrong people and make a story that will successfully boil your blood and play with your emotions. She was a cruel bot that loved these kinds of stories so of course, this level won't be any different. In all of the levels, there was a grand secret mission that even Zhihao had never realized or got the chance to experience. If you completed that grand secret mission, not only would you level up directly and complete the level, you would also receive a humble amount of T-points.
The grand secret mission was super simple to guess but really hard to achieve.
It was a happy ending.
So simple yet not many people knew about it since they didn't care about having a happy ending in a game.
If a player could manage to lead the level to a happy ending, not only would they be completing the level, but they would also be completing the grand secret mission and would be given a hefty sum of T-points as a gift.
It wasn't simple though. The levels were designed in a way that made it hard for the players to achieve that grand secret mission.
"He was furious and in his state of anger, he caused a big ruckus."
"What did he do?"
"He attacked the council and a few of the council members died on the spot due to heavy injuries. As a punishment, he was kicked out from the council and if it wasn't for the other council members feeling a bit guilty for creating such a situation, they would have surely beheaded him as a punishment."
Li Ling felt like there was more to the story but it wasn't that this girl was hiding anything, she was saying everything she knew, however, her knowledge of the situation lacked and was limited because she wasn't an insider at the council.
"He ran away and decided to fully watch over the last vampire alive. Some people say that they saw him entering the night markets to buy vegetables and stuff. These might also be rumors made to enrage the people."
"Enrage?"
The girl nodded her head as she spoke, "The fact that he killed council members and attacked people didn't sit well with everyone. Their dislike towards him was clear. Some hated him while others were disgusted by him. He had done all of this because of a vampire. A creature that lives off of killing others. Everyone thought Carmen was being influenced by the vampire. He was being tricked and sullied by staying with the vicious creature all the time."
"So he was ostracized?"
"Everyone avoided him. They hated the sight of seeing such a man."
Li Ling sighed as he wondered how much this story was actually true. It wasn't like this girl was trustable like that so there was a chance that she was saying everything according to her own perception of the story. The real story might really be different than what he was hearing.
"This was also the reason why everyone thinks the vampire is a girl."
"???"
"Why would he go through all of this for a vampire that meant nothing to him?" The girl looked at him curiously as if waiting for an answer but before Li Ling could give a response, she continued speaking, "He had to be in love with her!"
Li Ling almost choked on empty air once again as he heard this.
How come this girl was so wrong yet so right at the same time?
Carmen really did fall in love with the vampire but why does this automatically make people believe that the vampire was a girl? Haven't they ever heard about a gay couple?
"It's my favorite love story! A relationship between a girl born as a vampire and a man who only wanted to protect her from this world but ended up falling in love with her. Isn't it so romantic?" The girl looked at Li Ling with big sparkly eyes and Li Ling pursed his lips as a response.
"Cheesy cliche story." Li Ling commented before walking ahead and leaving the girl behind.
Elsie pouted as she ran after him. What was she to do? He had long legs and he was walking fast while her stubby legs couldn't compare.
"Why would you say that?! It's the best love story to exist! If I could, I would want to bless them so that they can have a happy and peaceful life together. They have fought so many hardships, they deserve it!"
Li Ling thought about it for a minute and as he did, his lips curved upwards as he suddenly thought that since Zhihao was playing the role of Carmen and he was playing the role of Lord Versailles, the girl was basically talking about blessing them as a couple, wasn't she?
This was perhaps the first time, the girl had seen this young man smile so happily as he nodded and agreed with her, "They deserve to have a happy ending."
"Wow! You know how to smile?" The girl teased him and the smile on his face went down again as he covered it up with a stern expression, "You looked so pretty when you were smiling! Why did you stop?"
"..." Li Ling didn't even bother giving her a response as he kept his eyes on the forest path in front.
"Are you ignoring me again?"
"..."
"And here I thought we have gotten a bit close." The girl pouted, faking sadness and disappointment however, Li Ling still didn't pay her any attention.
"..."
"By the way, since I'm your guide now, let me ask you a few questions. Is there somewhere, in particular, you want to go to, or are you just gonna explore around the town?"
"Explore."
"Then I'll take you to a great place!"
"Great place?"
The girl enthusiastically nodded her head as she spoke, "You must be hungry, aren't you? There is a restaurant that serves the best meal around here."
"How far is the town from here?"
"Far?" The girl chuckled as she responded, "We are already here."
"Huh?" Li Ling looked around and was thoroughly confused.
She said that they had arrived but all he could see were trees.
Where was this town they were searching for?
The girl understood his confusion as she pointed at the tree before them, "That's the entrance."
Li Ling looked at the tree that had a hollow trunk but he was reluctant to acknowledge that it was a gateway to the town.
"Let's go!" The girl pulled him along and headed straight for the tree and surprisingly, it seemed that she wasn't lying.
Li Ling looked around the place that was filled with lights, stalls, houses, and people.
"This is a portal. If you want to leave the dark woods, you'll have to find portals like this."
"Portals?"
Li Ling seemed to have not known something till now.
This was just supposed to be a level with vampires in it so why was there something like a magical portal here?
The girl tilted her head as she pointed at herself, "But of course, you'll have to find mages like me to find and use these portals."
"Mages?"
"You don't know what mages are?" The girl looked a bit shocked as she asked.
Li Ling nodded as a response, "I'm new around here."
"So you have no idea who mages are?" The girl covered her shocked expression with a smile as she spoke, "Mages are magic users. They are blessed with mana and can use it to control the five elements. The council members are mostly filled with mages."
"So you have magic?"
"How would I have saved you if I didn't?"
"Then..." Li Ling seemed to be a little reluctant to ask the next question but he still ended up voicing out his query, "Is Carmen also a mage?"
"How would he protect the vampire if he wasn't a mage?"
"I see."
So it was like this?
This place not only had vampires that were rather pitiful but it also had people who could use magic?
Li Ling instantly understood why this was a G-ranked level.
There were some levels that were classified under this tag of God-ranked levels because they couldn't fit in with the other lower-ranked levels. This was because they didn't deal with only one genre, they dealt with various genres all at once and this current level they were playing was a perfect example of that.
