Chapter 159 - Li Ling And The World Underground

The girl told them to follow her and although Zhihao was a bit suspicious, he still ended up following after her along with Li Ling.

The girl wasn't a talker and to all the questions they had asked her, she had not even answered one.

Eventually, Zhihao gave up on asking her questions and simply followed after her. Although he wasn't asking questions, it didn't mean that he was completely relaxed. He was analyzing her every move. He was trying his best to figure out who this girl was and why it looked as if she had a split personality.

When she had met them, she displayed a feeling of fear and shock, Zhihao could almost swear that he even noticed a bit of admiration in her tone of speaking and gaze, however, she ran away when they asked her a question. Zhihao was a bit stunned when she ran away but he was even more shocked to realize that she had ordered someone else to take them down.

She feared them, admired them, and tried to kill them.... Just who in the hell was she?!

The girl stopped in front of a sewer cap and crouched down before using all her strength to move the cap away.

Zhihao squinted as he wondered if this girl lived in the sewer.

She looked at them before pointing at their armor and gesturing them to take it off before following her.

The suit was too huge to fit inside the small sewage way and so, they had no other choice but to reluctantly take it off.

Zhihao didn't want to jump into the sewer but he still ended up clutching his nose and jumping in after the girl. Li Ling also followed close behind.

Zhihao felt as if it was a bit stupid for them to follow after a girl they had just met, not to even mention; a girl that had already tried to kill them once. It was certainly stupid of them to follow her, but the leader in this level was Li Ling and so, unless Li Ling stopped Zhihao, Zhihao wouldn't do anything.

Even if this were a trap, Zhihao was sure that a girl so thin wouldn't be able to win against both of them combined. They could still kill her with the snap of a finger.

The sewer wasn't just a normal sewer, in fact, it wasn't a sewer at all. Li Ling was right in thinking that the humans had decided to hide out underground. The sewer was actually like an elevator of sorts. As soon as they jumped into it, they felt their legs hitting the ground that moved downwards until the bottom of the plate they were standing in, also hit the ground, and the elevator reached its destination.

The girl was waiting down there for them and when they had both stepped out from the elevator, the girl finally decided to unseal her mouth, "I don't know what happened to you, but it's good now that you're back..."

She still sounded scared and her voice was so weak that Zhihao could almost hear it break at any given moment now.

The girl looked at Captain Burn as she spoke, "Welcome back to Utopia, Captain Burn!"

Zhihao gulped as he looked around at the so-called Utopia.

He had never seen such a thing. When he had first thought about an underground hideout, this was definitely not what he had expected. This was something straight out of his wildest dreams!

There was an entire city called Utopia under the ruins of the city called Metropolis.

"Wow!" Zhihao was amazed at the sight of the different colors of lights that illuminated the entire place. This was something that he had only seen in sci-fi movies before.

"Coming through!" Zhihao turned his head to look at a motorbike that had almost knocked him down.

The motorbike was being driven by a kid who looked to be around the age of ten, too young to drive a motorbike, but Zhihao wasn't shocked by the boy's age, Zhihao was shocked by the motorbike the boy was riding.

The motorbike didn't have wheels and it was hovering above the ground. Zhihao had only heard about such things before. There were certainly trains and skateboards with this type of technology in the real world but even though they hovered above the ground, they were still close to the ground and there wasn't much distance between their wheels and the ground. Such technology, back in the real world, was made possible with the help of magnetic force, however, just by looking at the motorbike once, Zhihao was sure that magnetic energy wasn't the power behind this thing.

There was at least a difference of 3 feet between the motorbike and the ground. Unless there was a really powerful magnet under them, such a thing should have been impossible, but then again, this was a game so it was certainly possible. After all, wasn't that the charm of gaming? You'll be experiencing things that were considered to be impossible. As long as someone could imagine it, it would be possible in games.

Anything and everything was impossible inside a virtual space.

The girl suddenly decided that after stalking them, running away from them, attacking them, and leading them to this hidden place, it was finally time to introduce herself.

What better timing could there be?!

Talk about manners!

"My name is Rei."

Zhihao looked at the girl but said nothing, he had already lost interest in knowing her name. He had only tried to collect more information on her because he thought that she was one of the only clues left behind about the humans, however, now that he was standing here, he was naturally aware of the fact that there was a whole city of lights in front of him that was filled with clues and hints.

This girl was no longer significant.

"And I'm the current leader of Utopia."

"..."

Hmm...

She was significant once again!

Zhihao would be lying if he said that he wasn't a bit shocked to hear that this girl was the leader of this city that looked to be bustling with life. The first thought that ran through his head was: How come you're so thin if you're the leader?

It was a question that was gnawing at the back of his mind. If she was the leader, there was no way she lacked money and so, she shouldn't be looking as if she had been starved for a few years now.

The girl named Rei simply looked at them with an unimpressed expression, "I don't know why but I feel like you've changed, Captain Burn. Actually, no... You have definitely changed!"

The fear that was seen on her face when she had first bumped into them had not even left a trace on her face. Her entire demeanor changed as she looked at them coldly.

"Why are you so thin?" Zhihao asked. He really couldn't help it. She was so thin that she looked malnourished and her bones seemed to be almost poking out from her brittle skin.

Rei pursed her lips as she looked down at herself before sighing. She looked at her watch and spun the ring around it in a certain manner. Suddenly her boney body started fading away and in its place, they could finally see her real self.

She was no longer the thin and frail girl they had met. She looked stronger and Li Ling almost wondered if this girl had more abs than him.

Sigh~ He should really start working out on his body when he gets home.

"How about now?" Rei asked and even her voice had changed. From the weak and frail voice, it had changed into a deeper, stronger female voice that seemed to hold some authority with it.

There was no mistaking it. She was definitely not lying when she said that she was the leader here.

Zhihao stretched his arm forward, "You act like you know me, but I don't recall meeting such a person. However, I would like it if we don't go against each other. I'm Captain Burn."

Rei chuckled but her voice lacked any sense of joy as she spoke up, "I don't 'act' like I know you, Captain Burn. I 'do' know you!"

She met Zhihao's eyes without any sense of fear, surely, the weak and frail girl had been nothing more than a disguise.

Li Ling suddenly chuckled as he stepped up and blocked in between the two, "You know him, do you?"

The girl frowned, "Captain Liv."

Li Ling nodded, "It seems that you know me too."

Rei, "I don't think there's anyone in this world who doesn't know the two of you."

Li Ling smirked in amusement, "Oh really? I didn't know we were that famous."

Rei frowned as she added, "This whole Utopia was built because of you. Why would you not be famous?"

Zhihao suddenly felt that the way Rei looked at them had slowly turned a bit hostile.

Rei, "If it weren't for you, we would have still been able to live in Metropolis and the Ribix wouldn't have been terrorizing our people."

"..."

Zhihao almost thought that they were some sort of heroes but after hearing this, he realized that they were famous not as the heroes but as the villains in this story.
