Chapter 162 - Li Ling And The Ribix Virus

When Zhihao and Li Ling had asked the Lady for her name, she had happily answered with not just her name but her whole personal data.

Her name was Leyah and she was a twenty-year-old travel guide living in Utopia. The rest of her family members were already dead and the only brother she had, recently passed away when he went to Metropolis to complete a mission. Her favorite dessert was strawberry ice-cream and she loved laughing. There was not much she hated in this life and the only thing that was inside her hate list was the Ribix Virus.

Yes, she had given more information about herself than they had asked for, but although it sounded useless, it wasn't completely useless to them.

Zhihao seemed to have heard something that caught his interest, "What's the Ribix virus?"

Leyah's smile that was always plastered on her face now faltered as she asked in shock and disbelief, "You don't know what the Ribix Virus is?"

Zhihao shook his head, "Our memory was wiped."

"Oh.... That's a pity," Leyah frowned as if she really felt sad for them.

Zhihao, "So what's the Ribix Virus?"

Leyah, "The Ribix Virus was the starting point of everything that went wrong."

Zhihao seemed to have picked onto a clue as he listened attentively, but Leyah didn't say anything further.

Zhihao, "Can you tell us more about it?"

Leyah shook her head and it might just have been the first time she had refused to answer, "I cannot do that. I'm not authorized."

"Oh..." Zhihao mumbled in disappointment.

"But... If you really want to know what happened, you can go to the Oracle center."

Zhihao's eyes that seemed to have been disappointed just a few seconds ago lit up once again as he looked at her eagerly and asked, "Where's the oracle center?"

Leyah smiled brightly once again as she exclaimed, "Follow me!"

Zhihao listened to her as she quickened her pace and just when he thought they would have to walk all the way to the oracle center, she hailed a 'cab' for them.

This cab was green in color and just like all the other vehicles here, it didn't have wheels and instead, it was hovering above the ground as if gravity had no effect on it.

Li Ling was the first to climb inside the cab and Zhihao would also not waste any more time in thinking if he should get in or not.

Li Ling leaned in and whispered to Zhihao, "A-Zhi, we should be careful."

"Huh?" Zhihao couldn't understand what Li Ling was trying to say.

Was he trying to say that they should be cautious against Leyah or was he warning him to be cautious about the cab, or was it none of those two?

Li Ling seemed to have seen through Zhihao's confusion as he sighed and added, "The Oracle. It sounds suspicious."

Zhihao nodded in understanding.

He thought about what this Oracle center was supposed to be and what its purpose was. If something is created, it would naturally have a purpose and that purpose could be either good or bad.

Instead of racking his brain for the answer, Zhihao decided to try his luck out and ask Leyah, "Isn't the Oracle supposed to tell you the future?"

Leyah tilted her head and looked at him as if he had just asked a really stupid question, "Why do you think that? The Oracle Center has all the answers you'll ever need. The past is available for everyone to listen to while the future books section can only be accessed by a selected few."

"Eh?" Zhihao was even more confused to hear this, but he decided not to question it and instead wait and see for himself what she was talking about.

The cab was fast and it didn't even take them five minutes to reach their destination, which was a building that was a bit round in shape and had a huge signboard hanging in front that read: Oracle center.

Li Ling and Zhihao got out of the cab and looked at the entrance of the building that didn't seem to be as crowded as the other buildings were. It wasn't completely empty, however, there were a lot fewer people here to visit this Oracle center.

Li Ling decided to take the lead and entered the Oracle center, but he was stopped at the gate, and only after showing the ID they had received was he allowed to go inside.

Zhihao also followed the same procedure of getting his ID checked and verified before he was let in.

Leyah was left behind to pay for the cab and only after paying was she able to follow and catch up to them.

"..." Zhihao was speechless as he entered the Oracle center.

Now he knew why the Oracle center was more empty than the rest of the buildings. This was a library with shelves that seemed to go up and up and up and up and... Up! There was no end to it! It was filled with books. Zhihao could swear that he had never seen this many books in one place before this.

Even the world's biggest library that Zhihao had visited was not as impressive as this.

Zhihao and Li Ling shared a look as if both were questioning what they were going to do here... There was no way they would sit down and read through all the books here!

"Let's find a place to sit down," Leyah spoke up and they followed her as she found an empty table for them with exactly three seats, one for each of them.

After they had taken a seat, Leyah clicked a button on the table and the table suddenly turned 'on'... This table was also like a display table that had a screen alike an Ipads and on it, there were different names and covers of books displayed.

Leyah typed something into the search engine and the machine found a set of books for them.

The books had a green-colored confirm button under each one of them and Leyah pressed them without caring to even read the titles.

Zhihao couldn't help but gulp as he saw this.

Were they seriously going to be forced to read or listen to all of this?! This was a bit too much information, wasn't it?!

After she was done pressing all the buttons, she smiled happily as she looked up at Zhihao, "The information you are searching for would be here soon."

"Hmm..."

They waited for a few minutes, or to be more exact, they waited for two minutes, after which the table suddenly opened up, and inside it were a number of books that were all picked up by Leyah.

She closed the table and placed the heavy stacks of books on the table as she exclaimed, "It's here!"

Zhihao, "Hmm..."

Zhihao suddenly felt that maybe the information was really not needed. They should just run away from this library. The stacks of heavy books had thoroughly managed to intimidate Zhihao.

Suddenly they heard a Robotic voice and when they looked up, they saw nothing more than a speaker that had always been sitting there on the table.

Leyah picked up a book and read out the code number that was written on the cover of the book, "233534687-gfy"

<233534687-gfy waiting for collection>

<collection complete!>

<Story title: The Virus that started everything>

<Scanning...>

<Scan complete!>

A minute passed and the speaker said nothing more.

Leyah looked at Zhihao eagerly but Zhihao had no idea what she was expecting him to do.

Li Ling chuckled as he saw the clueless expression on Zhihao's face and decided to help out, "Great Oracle, can you tell us what the Ribix Virus is?"

<Indeed>

<The Ribix Virus is a mysterious virus that had corrupted the body of the Ribix. It caused the Ribix to become savage and have a new purpose: destruction.>

At this moment, Zhihao sighed in relief. He seemed to have thought too much into it.

Nobody was expecting them to sit down and actually read every book. Of course, with technology so advanced, one could choose not to read out the story and rather have it scanned and read by a computer.

In this manner, not only would they be able to save time, but they would also be able to filter out useful information from irrelevant information; Giving them the precise information they came for.

Zhihao could finally smile as he decided to go all out with his questions, "How was it created?"

<The origins of the Ribix Virus are undefined>

"Then tell me how it spreads."

If it was a virus, it must have had the capability of spreading and so this became a question that Zhihao was curious to know the answer to.

<The Ribix Virus spread among the Ribix and it is believed to be through contact, may it be physical or not. However, this can not be proved since there were no studies done on it>

Zhihao nodded as he heard this, "And can it be cured?"

<The cure is not known>

"..."

Zhihao didn't know why but he felt as if he was getting information and at the same time, it seemed as if he was still standing in the same confused place where he previously was.
