Chapter 170 - Li Ling Doesn't Want That Troublesome Title

Li Ling smiled brightly as he pulled the trigger and shot Laura's leg, "You think you're grown enough to kill me, kid?" 

Laura chuckled as she was forced to kneel down on one knee because of the bullet wound. She certainly felt the pain that made her face go white, but at the same time, her lips were curled upwards and there was a hint of insanity in her expressions. 

Li Ling smirked as he kept his gun pointed at her. 

Laura, "Even if you know everything, what's your plan, Captain Liv? You'll reveal my secrets and take over my position? Pfft- hahaha... The war is inevitable. We're all gonna die anyway." 

"What makes you think I'll be interested in stealing your position? Like I already said, we have no interest in being called 'leaders' once again. Even if I do reveal your real face, what good would that do for me?" Li Ling questioned as he tilted his head, "If anything, it would be even more troublesome." 

Leyah looked at Captain Liv in confusion as she asked, "What are you planning to do with her? We can't just let her go like this! She needs to pay for her sins!!" 

Li Ling chuckled as he heard this, "Just because I said I didn't want to take her position or reveal her true face to everyone, it didn't mean I was going to let her go. Why would you even think something so stupid?" 

"..." 

Because your second favor was literally to "Let leader Rei go" ?! 

Leyah gulped but kept quiet as she waited for Captain Liv to continue. 

"If you arrest her, you're doing exactly what she wants you to do. Protecting her from the war." Li Ling smiled as he looked at Leyah but his smile lacked any sense of joy as he asked, "Are you gonna let that happen, Leader Leyah?" 

Leyah was silent for a minute as she let the information sunk in and just as she understood it, she couldn't help but glare at Rei with hatred as she gritted out, "No..." 

Rei who heard this laughed out loud and used all her strength to stand up and forcefully pushed her leg to walk forward. The sight looking a bit pitiful but when Li Ling saw that she had picked herself up, he once again shot her and this time it was on her other leg. 

She let out a small shriek as she fell down but there was still no dramatic reaction from her. 

"You should learn to stay down," Li Ling suggested with no sense of sympathy for the girl. 

Zhihao frowned as he looked at Li Ling and asked, "You want to pull her into the war?" 

Li Ling looked back at the man and beamed, "That's exactly what I want to do!" 

"..."

Li Ling, "You might not know this, but our dear Leader Laura is good at planning. When the war is over, do you think she would be able to make a new Utopia and rule it on her own? Of course, not." 

Laura suddenly crawled up from the ground with much difficulty, even a gunshot wound on both her legs couldn't stop her. 

Li Ling smirked as he shot her once again as if she were nothing more than a mere Daruma doll. This time the bullet penetrated her stomach, instantly making her clothes turn red as the blood from the wound seeped through. 

Zhihao frowned as he saw this, "Gege, be careful... You might kill her." 

Li Ling shook his head as he reassured him, "Don't worry, I won't." 

Laura crouched down at the impact and Li Ling took this time to continue his long narration of the plan that had been interrupted again and again. 

"She would need help. She would need soldiers and guards. She would need to find a way to look powerful and suppress the people once again." Li Ling smirked as he suddenly put his hand down, "So if she lets Leyah completely take away all her military force, how would she be able to win it back when the soldiers are all dead in the war?" 

"She has another plan?" Zhihao muttered. 

Li Ling nodded his head as he added, "She'll hide away a part of her future military power from the war. When the war is over and it's time for a new government to rise, she would bring out the hidden soldiers and rule the new Utopia." 

"But we're all gonna die if we lose the war!" Leyah suddenly cried out as a frustrating drop of tear rolled down her cheeks, "If everyone dies, who would she want to rule?! Corpse and graves?!" 

Li Ling smiled as he spoke up, "Who said her mission was to lose the war?" 

"..." 

"At the last minute, she would release her secret army and push back the Ribix army. She'll become the hero that saved the lives of the few people that survived." 

Leyah shook her head as she glanced at Laura, "If she has such a strong force with her, why would she not use it at the beginning of the war and win without having to kill thousands of people?!"

"Leyah, you're so innocent," Li Ling chuckled, "She wants people to die." 

Leyah's face lost all color as she heard this sentence. 

"The population in Utopia is increasing and the food is limited. The oxygen is depleting and the more people that live here, the shorter the lifespan of Utopia becomes." Li Ling explained, "If only a few people survived, Utopia could last longer. Hence, she plans on letting some die. If they can't fend for themselves, she'll have no use for them. This is a type of 'screening people' and filtering out the useful ones from the weak ones." 

Zhihao couldn't help but feel a bit surprised at how intelligent this girl lying on the floor was. She was really cunning. To have planned everything from the start till the end with every small detail calculated really took a lot of time and intelligence. Zhihao would be lying if he said that he wasn't slightly impressed by her. 

Leyah looked back at Li Ling as she asked, "Then... Where is this army of hers?" 

"Hidden, of course!" Li Ling chuckled. 

"..." 

Li Ling put his gun away as he pointed at Laura with his fingers, "That's why we need her to be alive." 

It took Leyah a whole minute to finally share her opinion, "I disagree!" 

"???" 

Laura once again clutched her stomach tightly as she crawled up from the ground, the corner of her upturned mouth dripping blood. 

Leyah, "She'll never hand over her army. If we look for it ourselves, we might have a better chance of getting our hand on it, but she would definitely use it against us if we let her go." 

Li Ling clicked his tongue as he pointed at Leyah and exclaimed, "That's exactly what you don't understand!" 

"Huh?" 

"Who said we were going to ask her to hand over her army?" 

"..." 

Li Ling snickered as he turned his head to face Laura, "We're gonna release her on the open battlefield." 

The wicked smile on Laura's face suddenly paused as she heard this. She had probably not even expected this in her wildest dreams, after all, there was no way someone would have a brain that worked just as wickedly as hers did. 

Li Ling seemed to be satisfied with this speechless expression as he smirked and continued, "Even if we covet her army, what use would it have for us? The 2X and the 3X Ribot armies are enough for us to control. If we add more, we'll only be burdening ourselves. I'm sure Leyah would also not be able to control another army, would you?" 

"..." Leyah was dumbfounded as she heard this and after a second, she responded with a nod, "I already have my hands full." 

Li Ling smiled as if he had already expected her to say something like this. 

Zhihao, "So we throw her on the battlefield and hope that she calls her secret army to come and protect her own life...?" 

Li Ling nodded as he looked at Zhihao, "If there is anyone who can make her take up her arms, it would be herself. She's a selfish person." 

Laura who had crawled up felt a little offended as she heard this. In the next moment, she suddenly chuckled as she asked, "And what makes you think I won't just run away or attack you?" 

Li Ling looked at her with an indecipherable expression on his face as he raised his hand and his mecha hand gloves transformed into a sort of a weapon that produced air bullets. 

A type of gun that was much more dangerous than a normal gun since the air bullets couldn't be seen or avoided easily. 

"You think I trust you enough to not think of such a scenario?" More than a question, it was a statement that he didn't trust her and had already made up a security plan against such a case. 

Laura scoffed as she took a step forward, "You think you can threaten me?" 

Li Ling smiled as he shot her with the air gun that made at least a 3-inch wide hole in her chest, "Nah~ Threatening you ain't that fun."
