Chapter 200 - Li Ling And His Story Time

[Your waiting time is over!]

Alvi who was somehow sitting high up in a tree jumped down and landed right in front of them. She was smiling happily and innocently as she looked at them.

"Alvi, I think your height increased a little," It was Zhihao who made the comment.

[I'm growing hehehe]

Alvi sounded pretty happy with it and Li Ling frowned just as deeply.

[Now do you want the world background or not?]

She asked with a bit of annoyance laced along with her words.

Zhihao chuckled as he nodded his head, "Please do tell us."

[In this level, Mastermo and Devilmagiclover are both playing the character of travelers who are new to this world.. Mastermo is a traveler named Rick and Devilmagiclover is a character named Jake.]

[Rick is a man who bought Jake here out of mere curiosity.]

[The two were simply walking through a jungle when Rick found an odd-looking rabbit and went after it. The rabbit went down a hole located in the bottom of a tree and since the hole was big enough for a human, Rick also followed after. Jake who was here as Rick's companion would also be forced to go after Rick and hence the two ended up following after the odd-looking rabbit that led them to this world.]

Zhihao frowned as he heard this and muttered, "This sounds quite familiar."

Li Ling chuckled lightly as he nodded and agreed with Zhihao, "It was an old children's tale, I believe."

Zhihao, "You're right. A girl named Alice who fell down the rabbit hole. It used to be quite famous back in the days."

[When they arrived in this world, they had no purpose and no mission here. This place was beautiful but it was still not a place they could imagine spending the rest of their lives in. They could live here for a few weeks or maybe a few months. They could even live up to a year in this place, however, they wouldn't be able to live here longer than that year.]

[Currently, it had already been a full year since they have been here and now they are looking for a way to get out of here, however, the only way out of here is by getting a traveling stone.]

[There is only one such stone in this entire world and no one knows where this one stone is.]

[In order to get the stone, Rick and Jake decided to go on a searching quest that led to the place you are standing in right now.]

[However, although they got this far, any news about the stone is yet to reach their ears and they aren't sure if they are any closer to finding the stone than they were before they started this quest.]

[Your mission as a team is to find the stone and get out of this world before it's too late.]

[There isn't much danger in this world but the dangerous creatures that exist in this world should never be underestimated for your own good.]

"That sounds rather easy..." Zhihao muttered in disbelief.

At first, he thought that this world would only look harmless and in contrast to its looks, it would be a level that would be filled with danger since it was a God-ranked level. However, after hearing this, Zhihao was sure that he had thought wrong.

This level didn't just look easy and harmless but that was exactly what it was.

"Why the hell is it ranked that difficult if there are no monsters to fight?" Zhihao sounded almost annoyed at the system as he asked out loud.

Li Ling chuckled as he commented "You sound a bit too enthusiastic to get monsters. Do you like killing them?"

Zhihao smiled brightly as he heard this question, "I'm a gamer, of course, I love fighting monsters. The more dangerous they are, the more exciting it is to beat them."

"And how do you know you'll be able to beat them. What if you are underestimating their power and can't beat them? Would you still want to fight against such monsters whom you have a zero chance of winning against?"

Zhihao almost wanted to laugh as he heard this, "Isn't that what makes it interesting and entertaining. You don't know if you'll win or not. You have no idea what powers and strengths the monster has hidden behind its skin so you can never accurately examine if the monster is stronger than you or not. The fact that the end of the fight is so unpredictable is what makes it exciting. It's the fun of the game."

"..."

"As a gamer, knowing the beauty of the unknown ending is what makes a game worth playing," Zhihao added enthusiastically.

"You're really passionate about your career." It was the only thing Li Ling could say as a response to that.

"If I wasn't passionate about it, I would've never chosen to become a pro-gamer in the first place. No matter how fun the profession looks, if you're not passionate enough, you'll only be trapping yourself in your own choices and suffering for the rest of your life. Some people even start hating the mere word gaming because of this."

[Or maybe you're just special, Mastermo.]

[Not everyone is the top player like you.]

Zhihao chuckled as he nodded his head, "That's also true. I enjoy the game so I became the top player and because I'm the top player, I enjoy the game. It's a never-ending loop."

Li Ling sighed as he commented, "Even if you do like monsters and challenges, you should still not be expecting them like this. One day, you might find yourself in front of a monster that you have no chance against and the feeling of losing like that would surely not be good."

"Gege, are you afraid of such a monster? Do you really think a virtual monster can do anything to me?"

Li Ling smiled thinly as he heard this question, "A virtual monster might not be able to do much to you inside a game, however, what if the monster comes out of the game or better yet, what if you get transmigrated inside a game. Would you still say the same thing?"

Zhihao frowned as he questioned, "Is this some sort of sci-fi movie? Why would such a thing happen? It's merely impossible for me to transmigrated into a game just as much as it is impossible for a monster inside a game to come out of it and enter the real world."

Li Ling tilted his head with a mocking smirk as he asked, "And how do you know that?"

"..."

"You know, there was this one man that used to be a world-famous top gamer. He was rich, smart, handsome, and talented. He could be considered to be an all-rounder. If there was something he lacked though, it would be manners. He was a potty mouth who couldn't keep up a complete conversation without using curses. He had a short temper and was hostile towards almost everyone he met."

Zhihao frowned as he muttered with a bit of jealousy evident in his tone, "I don't like you praising other men."

Li Ling chuckled as he ignored Zhihao and continued the story, "One day he won a contest organized by a game and as a prize, he received a book. He read the entire book and cursed the author for making such a bad story. Do you know what happened next?"

Zhihao pursed his lips together as he responded, "I would rather not know but I'm sure you'll tell me anyhow."

Li Ling smiled as he nodded and continued, "The man was called Fu Jie, and the next day, he woke up on a tree. He was transmigrated into the game and unlike you'd think, he didn't have any mission or a system to tell him what happens next. He got scared but he refused to show that he was afraid because of his own stubbornness. Legend has it that he's still stuck in that cultivation game and trying to find the mission he has to complete in order to get out of that world."

Zhihao sighed as he commented, "Gege, I seriously question the type of fictional books you read. Who the hell creates such nonsensical stuff?! Transmigrated into a book due to a game? Is there something more ridiculous than that?"

[For the first time in a long while, I actually agree with Fu Jie. This was a ridiculous story.]

[How can a book and a game be connected like that. The author must have been crazy to write something this idiotic.]

Li Ling almost wanted to laugh as he heard this, "It was actually a book filled with bromance and it was quite a fun read. You couldn't last more than five chapters without laughing. The character Fu Jie was so weird and flawed that you felt bad for him and at the same time you would want to curse him. In fact, as the story progressed, you felt more connected to the characters and would start rooting for the dumb MC who was always lazy."

"..." Zhihao's face cringed up as he heard Li Ling, "Still sounds ridiculous to me. Who would believe such a thing?!"

"The author was named Cherry or something I believe," Li Ling added as he tried to remember the author's name.

"A stupid author indeed." Zhihao sighed, "What was the name of the novel?"

"The midnight musician."
