Chapter 276 - Unpredictability Makes It Interesting

It seemed that the heavens did indeed pity the boy this time and the bullet unexpectedly hit the mark.

The creature threw its head back as it cried out in pain once again.

With both its eyes shot down, this creature could no longer see Huang Zhen which indirectly resulted in the boy's win.

[Congratulations Jiangshi on winning against the metallic crimson dragon!]

Huang Zhen gulped as he heard this and he dare not believe it, however, his disbelief didn't change the fact that he was safe for now.

Li Ying also sighed in relief as she felt all energy leave her body after watching that intense fight. The boy had probably not even realized how risky his plan was but Li Ying who was watching and analyzing his every move knew better than anyone else that there were a lot of things that could have gone wrong.

Every step in the plan was not thought through clearly and it was reckless. If Huang Zhen wasn't such a lucky brat then he would have certainly gotten himself killed at least a few hundred times in a single trap.

The walls that trapped the boy opened up as they went back into the ground and made a path in front of Huang Zhen who flopped down to the ground with no energy left in his body.

After a whole minute, Huang Zhen chuckled and Li Ying who saw him chuckling, chuckled together with him as she muttered, "You're one hell of a lucky bastard..."

This time, Huang Zhen had wasted quite some time on solving the trap and as a result, he fell back in his position to be the closest one to the center and he was overtaken by none other than his own brother Zhihao who had managed to avoid all the traps as he made his way to the center with determination.

Everyone who was currently watching the live stream of the final level probably had the same thought crossing through their minds and they were certainly at the edge of their seats as they hoped to see Mastermo winning.

However, if someone were to ask Zhihao if he wanted to win or not, the man would probably laugh and shake his head as he confidently replied with a 'no'.

Zhihao no longer wanted to be the one to win.

He had done everything for this movement. He had come this far just to prove himself but now that he was really standing here, competing against Li Ling, his want to win had died down.

He didn't want 'Mastermo' to win today, he wanted the gamemaster Li Ling to win.

If Li Ling were to hear the man saying such a thing then he would have certainly been shocked to death and would probably not even believe it even after his death.

The competitive Mastermo who was crazy about gaming and winning, actually having a change of heart was certainly something to fear.

They say that if a person changes too much, it means they are going to die soon and he would prefer it if Zhihao didn't change so that he doesn't die either.

At this exact moment, in some completely another side of the maze, Kaoru found herself facing the destination that she was headed for.

"Huh?" The girl muttered in disbelief as she saw the outside of the maze that looked to be completely normal and her face slowly lit up with delight as she ran forward and saved herself from the maze.

The girl thought that she was extremely lucky to have found this exit and she could also guess that she was the only player to have found it, however, she clearly couldn't have expected what happened next.

Kaoru looked up at the clear sky and in the very next second, before the smile on her face could even properly register, the screen in front of her turned dark and she was forced to open her eyes.

"She's awake!" It was the voice of an unfamiliar woman and when Kaoru lightly opened her eyes to look, all she could see was a silhouette of a woman dressed in a lab coat.

The girl tried to keep her eyes open but eventually failed as she felt tiredness taking over her body.

It surprisingly didn't take her that long to understand what the situation was and in fact, as soon as she saw the screen going black, she had already guessed that she had reached the end.

Going out of the maze was certainly not a good idea.

[Player Kaze_17 has been eliminated!]

The system inside the game announced loud and clear for everyone to hear and the players gulped as they mentally concluded that one of their opponents was down for good.

Now there only remained four players and one gamemaster still stuck inside the final level of T.I.A.D.

Out of the four players left, one had already given up on trying to win while the other was depending completely on his luck thinking that he had no hopes of winning against his brother. The third one was just going with the flow and still trying to find Li Ling while the fourth one, Mastermo was giving it his all as he headed for the center.

It need not even be said that the gamemaster was trying and yet, not trying at the same time.

Li Ling thought that the situation changing from a game of hunt to a race was already great enough and he couldn't hope for anything more. He had no need for the cash reward and he would naturally not want to be known as the winner of the game that he created.

Zhihao turned a corner and immediately came to a stop as he saw the trigger of another trap that he didn't wish to touch, however, he stumbled on his own foot and ended up triggering the trap.

The only thing that he could do after realizing that he had stupidly triggered the trap was sigh and curse at himself in his mind.

He already knew how to avoid all the traps but his patience had made this knowledge almost useless as he couldn't put it to good use.

What was so good about knowing something that you would forget to make use of?

Zhihao took a sharp breath as he made his way towards the wall and tried to use the cheat trick.

He wasn't able to use this method the last time because the water had already started filling up the space, however, since no action could be seen yet, this trick would naturally work.

No cheat trick was full proof and of course, they came with their own limitations and it took Zhihao a lot of time to understand why sometimes this cheat would not work, but thankfully he already knew the answer to that question by now.

When a trap was triggered, there was a small opening where nothing threatening happened. This small opening didn't last for more than a minute which was the reason why the players needed to be fast if they wanted the trick to work.

If the player was late and the attacking force inside the trap had already acted, chances were, it was impossible for the cheat to work.

Even if the system couldn't sense a player inside the trap, it could still sense a creature or something else that would have weight.

This was also the reason why Wang GuiYing hadn't managed to escape the trap when he climbed the wall to save himself from the mechanical crawling death insects.

The same could also be said about Huang Zhen who had tried to use the trick but failed when the bull suddenly showed up out of nowhere, putting weight on the ground.

[Error: No player detected]

[If the player is not detected, the trap would be deactivated within the next ten seconds.]

[Trap: 3242 has now been deactivated!]

Zhihao sighed in relief as he jumped down after making sure that he was safe and once the walls opened up, he continued heading towards the center of the maze.

If the traps weren't laid throughout the maze, then it would have certainly been easier for the players, however, because of the traps, this final level was unpredictable.

Just because a player was in the lead at this moment didn't mean that the player was going to win and just because a player was the last one didn't mean that player didn't have a chance of winning.

There was no guarantee who might be eliminated at any given moment and this sense of unpredictability was perhaps the factor that made watching this game all the more fun.

They couldn't predict but were interested to know the answer so they watched on to know more.

At this moment, Zhihao was the one leading, followed by Huang Zhen who had been previously on the lead. Li Ling was in the third position while Tian Xifeng was in the fourth and unsurprisingly enough, Li Ying who was sitting on one corner of the maze, leisurely watching everyone play, was the last one.
