"Your idea was lame" Blake muttered, plonking himself on the sofa as he barged into Jake's office. Jake lifted his gaze from his laptop, his eyes narrowed as he glared at Blake.
"What did I tell you about knocking?" Jake asked with a stern tone. Countless times he has reminded Blake to knock before barging into his office, but his words were not been heeded to.
"Sorry" Blake apologized making Jake sigh in resignation.
"What idea are you talking about?" He asked, returning his attention back to the laptop sitting on his desk.
Blake stared at him with incredulity. What sort of question was that? What other idea could he be talking about if not the stupid one his generous brother had given him.
Jake lifted his head to look at him when Blake didn't answer his question. One look at Blake demeanour was enough to joggle his memory.
"You mean the one with the flowers?" Jake asked cocking a brow.
"Hmm"
"I take it, it didn't work?" Jake closed his laptop, focusing his attention on Blake who obviously looked like he was sulking.
"Of course, it didn't work" Blake retorted, as he rolled his eyes at him.
"Tell me what happened" Jake said as he stood up from his seat and walked over to sit by Blake.
Blake's eyes followed him till he was seated by his side, but he kept staring at him. He still felt embarrassed about telling his brother stuff like this. Well, he was obviously more experienced at handling women than he was.
He stared at him and signed, "You can't laugh at me again like you did the last time" Blake warned with seriousness.
"Sure" Jake nodded, not certain if he would be able to keep his promise.
"Okay"
"So I went to her office this morning to see what her reaction would be like when she sees the flowers" He paused for effect and see if Jake was actually listening.
"Mmm" Jake nodded, encouraging him to continue.
"When I got there, she still has that graven look on her face, and she was outrightly plucking the petals out of the flowers" Blake blurted out.
"Worst thing is, I don't even know why I'm bothered. I mean this change of attitude is common in women right? You know them better, don't you?" He continued without waiting for a reply..
"But I can't shake off the fact that hers started after my birthday. You know, I kind of invited her and I also ignored her, though it was unintentional. This is all their fault" He babbled on.
"Whose fault?" Jake cut in.
"That stupid ky...." He let his words trail off when he realized he had almost mentioned Kyle's name. He still hasn't mentioned to Jake that Kyle had showed at his party, and to make matters worst, he had showed up with Hillary. Telling Jake would put him on a rampage. He was certain this brother of his would turn the country upside down till he found Kyle and probably plung a dagger through his chest. It was best if Jake still believes that Kyle had long left the country. This was the best outcome for everyone..
"That isn't the problem here. I'm sure you don't know who I'm talking about" He said guiltily, trying to divert Jake's attention back to the problem at hand.
"What I'm saying is, she has changed since that night. Although we aren't close, but she'd always smile when talking to me. And I feel like she's always trying to flirt back when I flirt with her, but now..." His words trailed off again as he looked at the floor to roof window that was standing behind them like he was trying to relieve a memory.
"It's all gone. And she keeps looking at me differently"
Jake was surprised with all the things coming out of his brother's mouth. This was the first time he had heard Blake talk about a women like that. He was utterly dumbfounded.
"So you're saying you miss her smile and you like her flirting with you?" Jake inquisitively asked. He would be lying if he said he wasn't interested in this.
"I'm not saying that. When you put it like that, you make it seem like I like her"
"Well don't you? Because it seems that way to me" Jake said thoughtfully.
"Of course not" Blake rebutted. "I don't like her. Women are troublesome. I don't have the energy to handle that, and I'm not like you." He said making Jake laugh at his expression. He stopped laughing immediately he saw Blake scowling at him. He knew he wouldn't be able to keep his promise.
He cleared his throat and apologized, "Sorry."
Jake didn't know what to say. He couldn't say that Blake likes her-whoever she was- but one thing he was certain of, was his brother has never been bothered by a woman, and this was his first. Although Blake flirts alot, he has always kept his distance emotionally, maybe because he was too scared to date. He was all bark with no bite. But this was definitely the first time a girl was stressing him out.
"Maybe it's just you feeling guilty for ignoring her at your party as you said. You should have mentioned this part when you first came running to me, you know" Jake commented looking at him.
He remembered how Blake had come into his office telling him he had a problem which he needed his help with.
~~~~~
"What kind of problem could that be?" Jake asked.
"A...girl problem" Blake muttered slowly. Jake bellowed out in laughter when he heard him. He couldn't believe his ears right now. Blake Beau having girl problems?! How hilarious!
"You..you have girl problems" Jake asked amidst laughter. He words were hinted with absolute disbelief. There was no way, that was true.
"I thought you were scared of girls?" He asked, more like a statement.
"I'm not scared of girls and I don't remember telling you such" Blake refuted making Jake laugh even harder.
"Can you please stop laughing" Blake said glaring wickedly at this heartless brother of his. Jake raised his hands up like he was surrendering when he saw the gloomy look in his face. "I'm sorry" He apologized.
"Tell me what the problem is" Jake said.
"I think she is angry with me. I'm not sure since she didn't say anything, but I can feel she's acting different"
"Girlfriend?" Jake asked curiously.
"Hell no" Blake denied.
"So a friend?" Jake asked again raising a brow. It got to be one right?
"Still no. I don't like female friends and you know that. She's just someone I know. So help me big bro and stop asking questions" Jake stared at him silently like he was trying to read his thoughts. He signed defeatedly.
"Flowers" Jake said.
"Huh??" Blake impatiently waited for Jake to continue.
Jake sighed when he realized Blake didn't understand. "Give her flowers"
"Really?" Blake asked doubfully with his brows scrunched.
"Yes. Girls like flowers and I'm sure whoever this girl is, she would like it too" Jake replied.
He knew ladies always threw themselves at Blake, but the little guy seems to hate the idea of being in a relationship or sleeping with one. He knew how they always threw themselves at him when ever they went out together, and he was sure none of those girls would be stupid enough to give Blake the kind of attitude that had made him come to seek his advice.
So whoever this girl was, it was either she must truly like this stupid brother of his who was such a useless flirt, or she wasn't the type to be moved by status, because she wouldn't be bothered by something like this, since Blake was a Beau. He was sure giving such a person extravagant stuffs wouldn't work on her.
"Are you really sure?" Blake was being skeptical.
"Are you doubting me?" Jake asked tilting his head.
"No!" Blake declared.
"But what kind if flowers. Should I give her any one?" Blake asked again.
"That's for you to find out. I can't help you with everything." Blake looked at him in disbelief.
"Just say you don't want to help me" Blake uttered pulling a sad face.
"Ah, and confirm if she's allergic to flowers. You don't want to make her hate you more" Jake teased earning him a glare.
"Thanks for your little help." Blake said as he stood up to leave. Jake shook his head as he watched him leave. That was something, huh!
~~~~~
"Well you didn't ask for details" He shrugged non-chalantly. He was supposed to be the women expert, so he should have known the questions to ask.
"So what should I do now. I really don't like this new attitude of hers"
"I'll advice you just talk to her. Ask her if she's angry with you and if she is, apologize" Jake adviced.
"But I did" Blake blurted out.
"Do it sincerely. You can't just say sorry. Mean it." Jake said emphathically.
" But what if she's still angry?"
"Then she likes you dumb ass" Jake said making Blake's eyes widen in surprise. Jake chuckled in amusement when he saw Blake's face.
Tch...what a useless flirt.
