Amy had a hard time focusing on work. Her eyes kept darting to her watch every now and then, and for some reason the time seemed to be slower than usual. Her anxiousness grew by the second.
Soon it was the close of work, Amy thought about reminding Blake about dinner, but she dismissed that thought out of her mind. She was going to get herself ready and wait for him to show up. If he does then that's fine, but if he doesn't then then she'll what to do too.
Amy decided not to go home, but rather she went to Jade's place to get herself ready. She has been avoiding her mother and her talk about her so called party, which she was expected to attend to acquaint herself with her's friend's children. Amy could tell what her mother was up to, and she wasn't interested.
"Babe you've got to relax everything will be fine" Jade said to Amy for seemed like the twentieth time as she helped Amy with her hair.
"I can't help it Jade. What if he doesn't come or what if he doesn't like me and turns me down? Maybe I should really call and cancel" She looked at Jade through the mirror, her countenance was like that of a scared child.
Jade dropped the hair comb and walked to lean on the mirror as she stared at Amy. "I told you stop thinking about all the negatives. They won't help you. So what if he comes and tells you he likes you just as much as you like him?"
"You think that's possible?" Amy was so full of doubts and fears.
"If it wasn't possible, you wouldn't have prepared a romantic dinner for him in the first place. Where has all your courage gone?" Jade asked with a little frown on her face. She wasn't used to Amy being like this. The bold and fearless Amy wouldn't be this scared.
Jade took a step closer to Amy, she lifted Amy's chin up with her finger and said, "You have to stop worrying. You're beautiful, smart, lovely and generous among many other things. So tell what man in his right senses will dare a reject a woman like you. Amy you're irresistible and i know you know that. So stop worrying your pretty head and go get your man" Jade placed a kiss on Amy's hair, While Amy nodded.
"Okay, I'll go get my man" Amy said with determination as she stood to her feet.
"How do I look?" Amy took a step back to show Jade a full view of her gorgeous look.
"Beautiful" Jade said with a pleased smile. Amy was donned in a little black gown which stopped an inch or two above her knees with matching shoes. The gown had a few stones at the front which made it look extremely beautiful. Her hair pulled in a neat bun revealing her beautiful neck line. Her make was light but beautiful. Her lips were free from shaded lipstick but had a little glittering lip gloss on, that made her lips look sexy.
"Thank you" Amy said as she gave herself one last look at the mirror.
"That's enough. You'll be late for your date. You don't want to keep your man waiting do you?" Jade teased.
"Okay" Amy quickly grabbed her clutch from the bed. She turned to Jade again, "Wish me luck"
"Good luck. Now go" Jade urged. She was also feeling nervous for her friend. She had come to know just how much Amy likes this guy.
Amy had planned a beautiful romantic date for her Mr Dreamy, and Jade could only wish for this to go well. She couldn't even bring herself to imagine that guy turning her friend down?
Jade quickly shook that thought out of her mind. Things will be fine, she was almost sure of it.
Amy got into her car, she looked at her face over the rear view mirror one last time, took in a very deep breath and started the ignition.
"You can do this Amy" She encouraged herself as she gripped the wheel tightly. Immediately she headed for the blue night lounge. She had to do the last minute check to see if everything was in place before Blake arrived.
Amy had arranged for a table to be set at the gardens of the hotel. The scenery there was breath taking. The flowers and the water sprinkling fountains and dim lights close to the table made the ambience entirely romantic. She had ordered some extra flowers petals to be strewn on the floor and she has also ordered their finest dish on the menu to be delivered to their seat as soon as Blake arrived at the table.
Amy was going all out and she didn't want to leave anything to chance. She had watched close to a hundred YouTube videos and had done a lot of research to finally do this. She wanted everything to be beautiful and and nothing less.
When Amy was satisfied with all her preparations she looked at the time. It was 6:55pm. Five more minutes then her man would come walking through this flowers. Amy was beginning to anticipate Blake's reaction when he saw all this. Her heart was beginning to race frantically. She kept looking at the time every passing second as it seems like the next five minutes would take forever.
Amy couldn't wait.

Blake was still in his office reviewing the last piece of document Jake had requested for. He was sure Jake out to punish him for hiring a secretary under the company's name and budget. If not for the fact that that brother of his was in a terrible mood he'd had gone there to tell him to do the job himself or look for someone else to do it. But he knew he shouldn't.
A frown appeared on his face when the intercom rang, he was certain it was Jake calling again to ask for the file.
"Are you being mean on purpose?" Blake asked in annoyance. He was already having a headache because of this and now Jake would not stop calling.
"Are you done? I need it now" Jake said ignoring his childish rantings.
"I'm almost done. You really should stop calling me every five minutes" Blake told him.
"Well I need it now. Just send it"
"If you don't know it's 6:55pm and I believe it's just you and me in this building right now, I can't send anyone. I coming"
"Don't bother I'll come get it. You're just too slow" Jake said before hanging up while Blake rolled his eyes.
He looked at the time again, it was suddenly then that he remembered he was to meet Amy at the restaurant by 7pm.
He had forgotten about it. Thanks to Jake who had requested for the quarterly reports of each departments. Unfortunately for him he had forgotten he was supposed to do that today. His eyes stayed on the table clock on his desk. He wasn't sure if he should go. He has never had dinner with a lady before. What if he does or say something that might vex her more? And what was it she wanted to tell him that they couldn't talk about in his office and they had to go out just to do that.
Jake flung the door open snapping Blake out of his thoughts.
"Where is it?" Jake asked stretching his hand to Blake.
"Here" Blake handed it over to him.
"Want to go out for a drink later?" Jake asked.
"Errmm...I'm don't think so" Blake replied. He still hasn't made up his mind about meeting Amy later for dinner.
"Okay. I'll see you at home" Jake strolled out of the office.
Blake's attention returned back to the time. What should he do? If he doesn't go, wouldn't that be more disrespectful? Blake groaned inwardly. Dealing with women was just too troublesome for him. It was more like he always had to be careful of whatever comes out of his mouth. He picked up his jacket from the hanger and dashed out of the office. He had no choice but to go.
When Amy saw Blake being directed towards the table, she felt her heart stopped that very second. With every step Blake too she could feel the palpitations of her heart echo in her ears. She rose up from the seat with her eyes locked on him as he finally approached the table.
She couldn't believe he finally came. For a moment there, she had thought maybe he wasn't going to, since it was already past 7pm. She had almost given up, but here he was looking dashing as ever.
"Good evening Miss Walker" Blake greeted with a smile when he approached the table.
"Good evening Mr Blake" Amy greeted back with a smile of her own.
"Sorry I'm late" Blake apologized with an apologectic smile.
"It's no problem. I haven't stayed long myself"
