Amy and Ethan were both sitting in his convertible, parked outside of the Walkers mansion.
Amy's mother and her accomplice had both left them behind, asking Ethan to drop Amy off.
"I can't believe I'm right here with the 'Ethan Hills' in his car" Amy said excitedly.
"I guess your fans will die of jealousy when they find out we are friends...Hehehe" Amy chirped.
"Come on. Don't act like that too" Ethan said with a amused smile.
"Do you know i have all your signed albums?"
"You do?" Ethan asked doubtfully. He knew how he must have hurt Amy, when he left, so he didn't expect her to have all his albums. Most importantly, he didn't expect Amy to give him a happy welcome like she was doing now....Well he did get juice spilled over his shirt. That was Amy anyway.
"Of course." Amy nodded.
"So tell me how did you get your folks to let you go into music?" Amy was curious. Knowing Ethan's parents, she didn't think they would easily allow their child do something like that, most especially when his father had an empire.
Ethan laughed, "Are you getting a free interview from me?" Ethan asked, while Amy shrugged making Ethan smile. Amy never did change. Seeing her like this made him remember their high school days.
"Well it wasn't easy, but I guess they finally understood the true meaning of dreams. But the truth is they only agreed based a compromise" Ethan told her.
"Compromise?" Amy was confused.
"Yeah, I promised to stop singing after I've become famous, and also I have my 10th tour"
"Really??" Amy couldn't believe it. "And you agreed?"
"Sure, you know that as much as I like singing, I also like the company. I guess it's the best they could do, and I happy things happened this way" Ethan had a happy smile on his face.
"Wait! This means this will be your last tour?" Amy eyes were about to pop out. Ethan had gone on nine tours.
"I see you have been following me up" Ethan said with a smile not quite reaching his eyes. It seems Amy didn't actually forget about their friendship.
"Oh no" Amy commented with a sad pout.
"Anyway, I guess it's for the best. You have to help your dad after all"
"Yeah" Ethan replied, while Amy signed and closed her eyes with her face up.
"So what do we do about this? Those women would not let us be until they get what they want" Ethan looked at Amy who still had her eyes closed.
"What do you want us to do? And please don't bring up that stupid idea of us getting married again" Amy warned.
"I don't know too. We're no match for those women" Ethan stated.
"I really can't believe that they would do something like that" Amy opened her eyes to look outside the window. Her mother must be inside feeling proud of herself for orchestrating such a stupid plan.
Amy bit her lips when she remembered when she had almost asked Blake if he was the anonymous sender. Thank God she didn't. She would have probably died from the embarrassment.
Now it made sense. Her favorite chocolates....she has always wondered how the sender knew about her interest in that particular chocolate. But something still felt amiss. Why were they two different flowers? A tulip and a rose. Now that Amy thought about it, something didn't make sense.
'She wasn't sure her mother knew she liked tulips, or maybe Lair told her' Amy reasoned to herself.
So if her mother sent the tulips, who sent the roses?
But what if her mother didn't send the tulips?? Then who sent them?
Amy shook those thought out of her head. There was nothing much to think about. It might have been a mix up between her mother and her accomplice.
Amy jerked back to reality and turned to look at Ethan when he cleared his throat. The car became suddenly quiet.
"What are you thinking about?" Ethan asked.
Amy stared at intently. There were series of questions in her mind that she wanted to ask him, and maybe he could provide the answers for.
"Why did you leave?" Amy asked softly.
"And don't tell me you is about pursuing your dreams, because we already talked about it even before graduation" Amy paused to see if he was going to say something, but when he didn't she continued.
"Why didn't you call me all this years?..If not for your mum, I would have forgotten I ever had a friend like you. Did I offend you by chance? I thought long and hard about it, immediately you left after our high school graduation.
"I sent you a bunch of messages when I got into the university, but you didn't text back. I also sent you a direct message on Facebook to congratulate you on yours, but you didn't reply. There were no birthday wishes, no check up calls nothing..So tell me what happened Ethan..What did I do?" Amy voice was emotional as she spoke. She and Ethan had been friends since when their mothers became close friends, and Lair was the big brother to them both. Always settling the fights between them and helping with their assignments like a big brother would.
They had plans to attend same university, maybe somewhere far from home where their mothers wouldn't watch over them like hawks, and they would rent an apartment together and become flatmates and create so much havoc in school. But things change, when Ethan suddenly wanted to go live with his brother overseas. So she didn't know what could have happened that he just left without saying a word.
Ethan looked away and sighed deeply. He couldn't bring himself to look at Amy after hearing that. This was why he had never wanted to come back. He couldn't look at her without feeling guilty.
Amy noticed his unwillingness to talk and her heart clenched.
"Is it really that bad?" Amy asked in a calm voice. She was completely lost about what she could have done.
"It's okay..If you don't want to talk about it, then that's fine" Amy said with a sad smile, because she really wanted to know. She would have been very lonely when he left, but thankfully Jade showed up in her life. And Jade had taken the place Ethan left vacant.
Ethan turned back to look at Amy. The sad look on her face was obvious to all.. He guessed it was time he told Amy the truth.W
