"You're seriously going to see him aren't you?" Blake asked in disbelief when Jake told him who he was going to see.
"Yes, I am" Jake replied as he put on his Jacket.
"You're not going to hurt him right?" Blake asked suspiciously. He wasn't sure Jake was simply going to talk with the person he was going to see. He was fully aware of how Jake's hatred ran deep for him.
Jake who was about to slip on his wristwatch paused when he heard Blake's question. He turned to look at him with cold eyes, "If you're asking if I'm going to kill him, then the answer is not yet" His voice was cold and Blake could feel it and it made him shudder.
"Okay fine. Just talk to him. You know how you get when you lose your temper, I won't be there to stop you like the last time"
Jake eyed him and sighed. "You make it sound like I'm an uncultured man"
"Well, my brother you are. You're disastrous when you're angry" Blake pointed out just in case he had forgotten.
"Shut up, tell me about the project I assigned to you. How is it coming along? Do you need any help?" Jake asked in a more serious tone.
"No, I got it all covered. Should be ready by the end of the day. You can do the test run later at the office" Blake told him, while Jake nodded.
"Okay, then we'll meet at the office," Jake said as he began to stroll out of the room, leaving Blake behind.
"Wait" Blake called to stop him. Jake halted and turned to look at him with a questioning gaze.
"Is there any reason why you're meeting Kyle?" Blake curiously inquired. He still didn't know the reason behind Jake's sudden decision to see the man he hated the most, especially when they had lived together for more than a decade but had still been able to despise him that much. Not that he wasn't angry at Kyle, but he felt Jake's was worse.
"You'll find out later. Just focus on your work, and we'll talk much later" Jake said before walking out of the room. He stopped by his grandfather's room to check up on him and also gave a sound warning to the butler before leaving.
He remembered to call his possessive girlfriend and wish her good luck on her presentation before he forgets and gets a breakup text later in the evening. That girl was driving him crazy but in a positive way. Talking to her and being with her makes him feel better and all his troubles disappear. He just wanted all this to be over and be with her as soon as possible. He could imagine life with her every day. Waking up to see her beautiful face by his side and kissing her goodnight before going to bed. His lips curved upwards when he thought about that.
Soon Jake parked in front of a private restaurant somewhere in the city. He sauntered into the restaurant and was ushered into one of the private rooms.
Jake wasn't surprised when he met Kyle already sitting in the room waiting for him. Jake stopped at the door when his eyes met with Kyle, he could feel his mood slowly turn sour just by looking at him.
Kyle sprang up to his feet the moment Jake walked into the room. He stood fixated with nothing to say. He had at a point thought Jake would change his mind, but he was really here. He was surprised when he got a message from Jake's secretary yesterday asking him to meet him there. He couldn't express the immense joy as well as the anxiety that he felt when Patrick told him about the meet.
To be sincere he had missed his brothers, though they might not be related by blood they had lived under the same roof for years and he had lived and loved them like his own just as much as they did.
After his last encounter with Jake at the club when he had beaten him up, he decided to stay away till he cools off and maybe try again. After all, he had committed a great sin against the family.
Jake sighed out loud and had almost turned around to leave when he saw Kyle's face. Seeing him now, he suddenly had the urge of killing him. Jake hissed and walked into the room. He unbuttoned his suit button and sat down on the seat opposite Kyle.
"I'm not here to hear you apologize or do something related to that, because if you do I might kill you. I just want to hear what happened the week and the day father died" Jake went straight to the point.
Kyle didn't know how he should feel after hearing Jake say that. He had wished Jake might have wanted to see him and talk things over, but who was he deceiving. Jake would never forgive him, no one would. What happened was unforgivable.
"What do you want to know?" Kyle asked as he took his seat, and sat directly opposite him.
"Everything, most especially his health, and who he met with," Jake said specifically.
Kyle kept quiet for a while as he thought about the week and most importantly the day Henry died. Those are were the days he has been unable to forget.
After a while, he started talking. "Nothing special happened on the week of his death, that week was supposed to be his week for outstation inspection, and we had it scheduled as usual. He went about his usual stuff, nothing out of the ordinary" Kyle narrated.
"Nothing out of the ordinary?" Jake asked inquisitively.
"No nothing. We went for the outstation inspection like we were supposed to"
"What about his health? Was there anything suspicious? Did he look disoriented? Was he out of it?" Jake desperately asked. Kyle looked at Jake with much intent. He didn't know why he was been asked such questions but he could tell something was up. But anyway he dare not ask, less he wants Jake to go into his angry mode.
"No, he wasn't.....wait" Kyle paused when he suddenly remembered something.
"What?" Jake asked eagerly, his body tensed up and his eyes anxiously boring a hole into Kyle's head.
"Did you say disoriented?" Kyle asked.
"Yes"
"There was this one time he had acted weird," Kyle said suspiciously. Now that he remembered he had always wondered why things had happened the way they did.
"What do you mean? What day was that?" Jake's impatience was gradually growing, his brows narrowed closely.
"On the day he died"
