Chapter 309 - Letting Go

Amy gulped when he pointed the gun at her. Her heart was beating frantically, but she pursed her lip and closed her eyes, a tear rolled down her eyes as she thought about Blake, Jade and her family most especially Lair. He was her favourite person in the whole world. Her lips twitched when she thought about Blake again. It seems she wasn't meant to know how he felt about her. She'll never know whether he liked her or not, but she'll die with the thought that he loved her.

She took in a deep breath to brace herself for the incoming impact, her heart raced and cold sweat enveloped every part of her body.

Mason looked at her with angry eyes, he could see nothing but a person he had to kill. Somewhere in his heart he felt like he shouldn't because if was honest with himself he knew she was just also a victim of her mother's evil ploy, she had been separated from the man she loved, but his rage and thirst for vengeance had clouded his judgement.

"I'll hope you die a slow and painful death." He said as he pressed on the trigger.

BAM!!

Amy stiffened when she heard the sound of a gunshot. She held her breath as she waited for something to pierce through her but nothing came it. Was it painless when someone got shot? She waited a few more seconds but there was nothing.

Did he change his mind? If he did, what then did he shot?

Amy slowly opened her eyes to see what had happened, but she was welcomed to a shocking scene playing out in front of her.

'Ethan?'

"Ethan!!" She screamed out loud when she saw him clutching his stomach as he fell to his knees.

"Ethan" She called out again as he groaned in pain but he didn't look at her, rather he had his eyes glued to the man with a gun in his hand who was now standing transfixed with his hand quivering in shock. He didn't understand what had happened. He had just pushed the trigger how had he appeared there?

"Mason" Ethan called out in pain.

"E..than" Mason stuttered out when he realized what had just happened. He let the gun slip out of his hand as he rushed to Ethan, wrapping his hand around him as Ethan fell to the ground. His heart was pounding ferociously when he saw Ethan like that.

"Why... Why did you do that?" Mason asked as his eyes began to well up. What has he done?

"Mason...let her go." Ethan struggled to say through gritted teeth, not minding to answer his question. He clenched his teeth tightly and closed his eyes because of the pain.

"No." Mason shook his head as he pressed on Ethan's stomach, while he held his head up with his other hand.

"Wait let me take you to the hospital." He said as tried to lift him, but Ethan pulled him down shaking his head, indicating he didn't want to.

"Mason you promised me. You promised not to do anything bad again, that you won't hurt her, that you'll give up on your old self. You promised me. Were your words empty promises? Don't I mean anything to you?" Ethan asked him, staring into his eyes.

"Don't say that," Mason said, cutting him short. "You know you mean the world to me, but they hurt me."

"And her mother will pay. Isn't that enough? I might not know Micheal enough, but I know he wouldn't want his brother to become a murderer. Mason let this anger go, it would only cause you more pain, please." He pleaded before wincing out in pain making Mason scared. He didn't know if he should press hard on the wound or not, but he was bleeding out.

"Ethan stop this. Let me take you to the hospital. Let's leave this alone."

"I'm not going to the hospital. If you want to kill her then let me die as well. She's my friend and I can't live with the guilt even if you can. I can't!" Ethan said stubbornly. A surge of pain shot through him and he impulsively clenched onto Mason's shirt.

"Ethan stop this please."

"No, you stop. Stop trying to live in pain. I'm sure her mother must be confessing to her....her crime at this point. Let her face the law, but let Amy go. She loved your brother and he loved her back. She has a good heart, don't let this take you back to where you're coming from. You promised to change." He paused when he couldn't bear for much longer. His body was becoming numb.

"Ethan you're losing a lot of blood, stop being stubborn" Mason told him.

"There's no much time. Make it stop then we can go to the hospital." He said with hitched breath, as a tear fell from his eyes.

He gripped Mason's hand and held tightly, "Please for me. Save her and save me." Ethan pleaded. He hadn't planned to jump in front of a bullet, but he had no choice when he saw Mason pushing the trigger the moment he was approaching him. Left with no choice he jumped in front of Amy, and that was what led to him being shot.

Mason hesitated but he slowly nodded his head when he saw Ethan in so much pain. He looked at Amy who was equally in tears as she looked at Ethan on the floor. He sighed as he slowly brought out the remote from his pocket. He looked at Ethan who encouraged him with a nod. He sighed as he clicked on the button and the beeping noises suddenly stopped.

"You did good," Ethan told him with a forced smile, before giving Blake a nod.

Blake who had been standing by the side hoping and praying things were going to work out successfully suddenly stepped forward. He had wondered why Ethan was so confident in resolving the whole issue, now he could see why.

He dashed towards Amy and set her loose. She fell into his arms and he caught her, she has been standing for so long and her feet could barely hold her up.

"Are you okay?" Blake asked with concern.

"Save Ethan" She cried.
