One week Later
Jake has barely been to the office lately since Jade's accident. He spent most of his time at the hospital taking care of her, talking to her even though she couldn't reply back, he had read her a few books and would sit with her just to keep company, and because of this Patrick has been on a stretch, his workload has increased tremendously. It was the typical life of a secretary.
"Sir, you have a meeting by noon with the new investor." Patrick reported to him.
"Cancel it." He said as he continued to sign the document on his desk, there was a mountain of files in front of him.
"Sir what about lunch?" Patrick asked again.
"I'll eat at the hospital." He coldly replied. He hasn't been in the best of mood since Jade slipped into a coma. He had become so grumpy even when he doesn't want to, he just couldn't help it. He looked at the time and hissed, Kyle was going to be there soon and he still had a lot more work to do. He hissed out again.
These days nothing seemed to make sense. He felt so empty on the inside and it grew worse whenever he was outside the hospital. He couldn't wait for Jade to wake up, it was taking so long and he could barely stand it.
Jake looked up and he was annoyed to see his secretary still standing there. "Is there something else?" Jake asked but Patrick shook his head, "No sir"
"Then leave, and order some rose to be delivered to the hospital" Jake said dismissively. She has always loved roses and he ensures she isn't short of it.
Patrick nodded his head and went back to his work desk. He had only taken his seat when he saw Blake and Kyle approaching.
"How's his mood today?" Blake asked.
"Still the same."
"Has he eaten?" Blake asked while Patrick shook his head. Blake looked at Kyle who shrugged his shoulders. There was nothing he could do about it. They had just started fixing their relationship, and knowing Jake's temper talking to him or trying to coax him was going to rile him up.
"He's going to kill himself at this point." Blake sighed and walked into the office. He walked over to Jake's desk and grabbed the pen from him making Jake look at him coldly.
"What's the meaning of this?" He spoke in a harsh tone.
"What the hell are you doing to yourself?" Blake asked back in a tone that matched his.
"Blake." Jake snapped.
"You're not going to scare me with that. What are you doing to yourself? You don't eat, you don't sleep and when you finally come here you won't take a rest not even for a second. What is wrong with you? She isn't dead, she's alive and she'll wake up soon. It's only been a week." Blake told him.
A week? Did he just say a week. That's seven days, one hundred and sixty eight hours of not hearing her voice, seeing her smile, of not being able to hold her. It was seven whole days of missing her even when she was right by his side. He looked at Blake and sighed. There was no need talking to him or any of them, none of them would never understand, he looked at Kyle who was standing by the door.
"Are you ready?" He inquired while Kyle nodded.
"I'll be done soon." He said before picking up another pen and resumed reviewing the documents. Today he was taking Kyle to the private investigator he has hired to search for the man in Kyle's memory. Kyle had regained the piece of his memory he had lost, and he had been able to remember the man he had seen at the spa on that day. Jake had asked for a sketch of the man to be made, but so far he hasn't been found, this Jake was taking him for another sketch. He had to find that man to nullify the validity of his father's will.
Blake was vexed with Jake's attitude. He tossed the pen on the floor before storming out of the office but not without sneering at him, "You can kill yourself all you want." Blake hissed at him.
Kyle looked at Blake's retreating back before glancing at Jake.
"If you want to lecture me too, I'd advise you to save it." Jake told drawled at him before he could even say anything.
Kyle ignored him and walked closer till he stopped in front of the desk. "You know everyone is just being worried for you. No one has ever seen you like this and it's scaring everybody. At the rate by which you're going, you'll self destruct, and it makes me wonder who your girl will wake up to. I don't know why you're punishing yourself like this but know that she won't be happy to wake up to seeing you like this, you'll make her feel guilty. For her sake you have to take care of yourself." Kyle adviced.
"Blake said Grandfather has been requesting for you,I think you should go and see him, he's worried to and he also mentioned his health is getting worse." Kyle said as he rose up to his feet. "I'll wait for you outside." He added before stepping out of the office leaving Jake to his own thoughts. It wasn't as easy as everyone had said. He didn't like being this but he couldn't help it.
Yes, he has been avoiding home because he knew his grandfather would harruange him, and he didn't want that. He has been informed about his health and he had requested their family doctor to check up on him regularly, but he still couldn't go home especially when he felt so helpless, his mood might depress that of his grandfather. This was hard for him to take. He couldn't just carry on with life as usual when Jade was in a precarious position he just couldn't do it. There has been no change in the state of her health and it was frustrating.
Soon Jake and Kyle headed out of the company to see the artist who was supposed to make the sketches.
"When do you intend on returning to the mansion?" Jake asked.
Shrugging his shoulders Kyle replied, "I don't know. It's been so long since I stepped in there and I don't know if it'll still feel the same." He sighed.
"You should come back. The misunderstanding has been cleared and that has been the only home you've known. And I'm sure grandfather would also like to see you." Jake told him.
"And I like to see him too. It's so sad he fell sick immediately after Dad died. Dad's death must taken a toll on him." Kyle hissed. This wasn't a topic they be always talked about as Henry's death was still fresh in their memories.
Jake sighed deflatedly, 'It was indeed sad.' He missed the bubbly old man, but that part of him was gone.
Kyle was waiting for Jake to say something when his eyes caught sight of something or rather someone. He snapped his head to the side as he looked at the man walking out of a pharmacy.
"Jake stop, that's him!"
