277 Wake Her Up

"Is anyone there?" She called in a hoarse voice to be only received with silence in response. After a while when there was still no sound, her mind wandered back to the picture that she had received and her body broke into cold sweat yet again, wondering in what condition might Wu Zhang be.

It was a picture of Wu Zhang. He was tied and his body had various injuries. His face looked bruised and had a cut through which blood was seeping out. Clothes from his upper body were removed and she could see his skin had turned blue at multiple places. To put it short, he looked horrible.

It would not be an exaggeration to say that he looked half-dead and only she knew how terrible she had felt when she had seen it. It was like a thousand shards of glass got pierced in her heart just by seeing his injuries that covered most of his face and upper body. And only because she was caught in such an urgent situation, did she decide to follow that man here or otherwise she would have never come, but when it came to him, she had failed to think rationally.

"Zhang where are you?" She murmured to herself as she tried to squirm and loosen up the ropes that were tying her limbs but it wasn't of much help. She laid there for a while, trying to think of a way to untie herself, when she suddenly remembered something and arched her body backward, trying to reach for her shoes. Because her hands were tied behind her back, she folded her legs behind her as well. After a little bit of struggling for a while, she finally managed to reach to her feet and slipped her hand inside one of the pumps; and once she found what she needed, she pulled her hand out.

Just the next moment, when she was pondering on what to do next, she heard some sound from the outside. Her movements paused and she tried to listen carefully to realize it was the sound of footsteps clicking, which were getting closer and closer. She hurriedly tucked the item in her hand, into the waistband of her skirt underneath her blouse, at the back to make sure no one could see it. Then to play it safe, she decided to play dead for a while longer while her heart raced inside her chest.

A minute later, she heard the sound of the door unlocking before a pair of heavy footsteps could be heard again, and Song Jia assumed that the person was somewhere near her. The next moment a hand got hold of her jaw and patted her cheek to see if she was awake.

After much walking the man paused and pulled her down from his shoulder and threw her roughly on the floor again, making her suck in a deep breath of air from the pain.

"How hard did you hit her that she has not woken up yet?" She heard a man speaking.

"I didn't. She just turned out to be too fragile. Might wake up soon." The voice this time sounded similar to that of the man who had knocked her out outside the Villa estate of the Song Mansion.

While the two men were still talking, the door in the room was turned open and the sound of high heels clicking on the floor approached near. The two men turned around and bowed to the woman who had just entered the room accompanied by two more men. She was wearing a dark green sleeveless dress, her hair tied in a top knot, and if a person ignored the creepy smile on her face, she looked rather pretty.

"Is she not awake yet?" Song Jia frowned hearing the voice of the woman. For some odd reason, this voice sounded very familiar but she could not place her finger on whom this voice belonged to. Not wanting to take any chances, she didn't risk opening her eyes and chose to just listen.

"Not yet." The man in the blue denim answered.

The woman eyed Song Jia closely before walking towards her and with every step, her heels clicked on the floor. She had a small smile tugging on her red lips and then the next moment, she kicked Song Jia in her side with her pointed shoes.

"Weng Qin, wake her up! I can't wait any longer for the show to start." The woman ordered the man in blue denim while clasping her fingers together in excitement.

Song Jia who was still trying to recognize the owner of that voice felt her ankle getting grabbed by someone and then her body was dragged on the dirty cold floor. Once the dragging stopped, she opened her eyes. And just when she was about to turn around, Weng Qin then tugged on her hair roughly, lifting her upper body, and the next instant, her face was dunked in ice-cold water.

Song Jia's eyes went wide open and her body convulsed from the chill that ran down her spine. She struggled to pull herself back, but the force on her head was enough to keep her in place. Her eyes grew wider and the water started to get into her mouth, and nose, making it hard for her to breathe. She had been a swimmer so she could hold her breath longer, but this sudden attack had taken her by surprise.
