And just like that, before I could even realise it, this momentary window of choice closed, with the gate spitting me out back on the central island to the second wave of the refugees from the great continent that I heard everyone speak so much about. From the looks of things, the portal seed was still in the exact same place where I used it for the last time, meaning that most likely, either no one noticed it, and even if someone did, he or she didn't bother picking it up.
Considering how most of the time I spent away was inside my own dimension with its diluted time, the only time I had to count in order to guess how long I was away, was at the same time - the most problematic. With how immersed I got into rebuilding my factory, what I perceived as nothing more than a few hours, could very well be an entire day!
Yet with no other choice than to press forward, I made sure to plant several explosions in random spots of the forest I walked through when approaching the city, only to ride on the first shockwave I detonated high up into the air. Just like before, I was going to use my height advantage to scale the walls and reach for the upper part of the mountain where Monica's mansion was located.
Yet at the same time, I had to make sure to make my return a bit different than the start of my journey. Even if no one were to notice the fact that the body presents all the way back in the room was nothing else but an illusion, someone could connect the dots of me starting and finishing my cultivation with the accompaniment with a single explosion going off in the forest!
As soon as I appeared above the walls, I made sure to start the chain reaction of all the stored shockwave spells, making it look like some kind of huge fight between powerful monsters was rocking the very fabric of the area, knocking down trees and creating craters as the two of the fighters would move along their skirmish.
Just like expected, as soon as the show started, most of the guards instantly focused all their attention at the events in front of them, rather than being wary of the remaining sphere of their surroundings.
Who could've known that I could use this old rule of illusionists to move in and out of this city? When a performer tells you that magic happens here, you are sure as hell that the place he is pointing your attention at, will have nothing to do with the real work he is trying to hide!
Yet no matter how much I racked my mind or strained my eyes to see any indication that would show those people pledging their life to some almighty goose, I was unable to achieve this task, ultimately dropping it altogether. Thinking about it in this way, wasn't there a popular yet silly goose simulator game back on earth? For now, I would be safe to assume that there was some kind of transmigrator that loved this game so much to make all the sects of those people named after the animals like that!
In the end, before I could even bother myself with being vary of anyone spotting me high in the air, the time of dropping down to the level of the mansion came, indicating the end of my sneaky journey. Yet while moving inside the mansion and all the way to my room itself didn't pose any problems, when I reached the window through which I initially escaped, just a single lurk inside was enough to stop me from advancing any further!
"How the heck can his focus be so strong!"
Lurking through the small gap between the hole in the wall and the frame of the window, I could see a few cultivators of the goose sect, dressed in the white robes, pacing around the room, with a nice looking girl constantly approaching me only the illusion of my body through its head and whine in pain when it resisted her touch to the point of her hand actually turning red!
While this sight announced more than enough troubles in terms of getting back to the room and taking the place of the illusion with my real body, I couldn't help but let a sigh of relief out of my mouth. If I didn't go for another mile in setting an elaborate barrier that tightly enclosed the illusion and all of its details, rather than being angry at her hand slamming into my rock hard barrier, this female cultivator would wonder how the heck did my body became incorporeal during cultivation!
"If we won't wake him up soon, the teacher will kill us!"
Seeing a look of true desperation on the faces of those disciples, I realised there was no point trying to wait out their invasion. Unless I would find a way to move back in my place, they would end up staring at my fake body until Monica herself would come down knocking, aiming to wake me up herself!
And I wouldn't dare risk her accidentally overcoming the maximum strength that the barrier could sustain, and learning about how little this entity on the bed had to do with the real me!
Yet no matter what I thought, no matter how desperately I was looking for a way that would allow me to sneak up inside unnoticed, even knocking all the disciples up was impossible, not to speak about all the other silly ideas that were even less fortunate in regards to the health of those innocent disciples!
And that was when I heard the last explosion of the chained reaction that I set. Initially, I hoped to make everyone think that one of the non-existing beasts that was fighting finally managed to land a killing blow, ending the fight entirely, yet hearing this disturbing sound I finally found an idea!
Instantly dropping out from the window, I swept the entire corridor from all the dust simply lying around, even going as far as to carving the insides of some of the columns keeping the roof stable, just for the sake of obtaining materials.
While I had to be careful to not be seen with how my body remained hidden behind the skill yet my crafting orb simply floated through the place like some kind of wisp, this part of the mansion wasn't as busily attended as its front part, giving me way easier time than I expected it to be.
After finishing up the task, I infused a strange-looking scale made out of the dirt and stone refined to the absolute limit of my ability, before smashing it up against the exposed part of the wall of my own room!
