I wasn't stupid enough to expect the crowd to suddenly start cheering after such a great revelation. While they politely waited for me to pass both of the messages, even when I did so, it didn't change the fact that either of that information alone would be enough to shatter their minds into pieces by itself, not to speak about two of them combined!
"Fear not. I made sure to seal that space. While there is a chance that some prisoners were kept there, regretfully, I had no other option if I wanted to save you from those devious people. And with that said, I need to rest now, all the fighting I did, took its toll on me."
Despite being the saviour of those people in a sense, I didn't feel any sort of connection with them. If I could use those people to find a good place for Pengu to grow and prosper while using the situation to amass even more knowledge and experience, then I was down for it.
Patting my chest, I managed to get my friend to emerge from my pocket for the first time since the subdimension started to collapse. Showing its beak hesitantly as if not sure whether the outside of my pocket was safe, after confirming that no immediate threat was about to hit him, Pengu crawled out of my clothes and instantly enlarged himself to the size of an average person.
"While I will go to deal with my matters, I will be leaving this tyrant penguin to protect you all. With the greatest threat already alleviated, he will safeguard you from all the other dangers!"
Shouting those words to the crowd, I swallowed my saliva and turned back to my friend.
"Pengu… Outside of my fiancee, you are my longest and dearest friend. But this is where we will have to part ways. I will leave this place to you, okay?"
Even though I have yet to go to the library and expand my knowledge or go through the visions, I already knew that this place was fitting for me no longer. The uproar that killing all the overseers of this place would cause could bring my stronghold dangerously close to being discovered by protectors, so if I wanted to keep it safe, I had to start over somewhere else.
"Leaving… me?"
Just as I was about to turn around and go to the library while doing my best to suck all the available magical energy from the surrounding area, I heard something that I never expected to hear.
Pengu speaking more or less normally? Instead of using his strange rhymes?
Just this alone was enough to force my body to stop in my tracks. I truly considered this silly penguin my real friend, so how could I leave him just like that?
"Pengu… I'm not leaving you here to rot. I need you to guard this place for me, because I have no idea what kind of trouble I will have to trow myself into. I don't want to leave you behind… but I need someone to protect a place for me to retreat if a situation that I couldn't handle myself were to arise. Can I count on you?"
While it pained me to play such a card, my words were aimed only to change how Pengu perceived the situation. If one were to look at it from a few meters away, I would still be leaving him in this place, burdened with entire nation to take care off. Even if it was true that on the other hand everyone here would worship and take care of him, not to speak that the only possible major threat just left this world to live or die in the chaos of abyss, it didn't change the fact that in reality, I was simply leaving him alone!
But while I had the intention of leaving this place and returning only when I would become strong enough to fight off any protector that would dare to come my way, there was still one more thing that I had to solve before leaving the city.
Finding Jeleria's older sister!
Despite how I ignored this topic through my time in this place, I never intended to go back at my word. If not for the help of that flat girl, I would have a lot more problems finding a way to hook myself in this city, possibly wasting way more time in here than I already did.
But how the heck I was supposed to locate a girl whose name I don't even know?
While I still held to this small bit of Jeleria's blood, I never found any technique that would allow me to locate someone basing on the bloodline alone!
With this thought weighing on my mind, I simply jumped upwards and propelled myself with the standard shockwaves. There was no one in this city that could pose any threat to me any longer, so all the reasons for hiding my strength now became obsolete.
In just a few seconds of flight, I covered the distance than one would have to waste several hours to walk on the foot. Not bothering to lose my momentum in any specific way, I simply relied on my resistance as I crashlanded right in Monica's courtyard.
While I was sure that there were many ways to get inside the library, one of the most likely in that elusive mansion at the peak of the ancestor's mountain… But I had no idea where exactly the entry could be!
Rather than wasting my time and desecrating the ancestral grounds of the locals right after claiming to be their saviour, it was far easier and more convenient to just use the same route I took when I first visited it!
And just like that, I moved through the set of columns, moving from the open area at the front of Monica's mansion all the way to the depths of the sizeable area, before finally reaching the familiar doors that would lead me to the library.
It was time to finally get all the knowledge I wanted before immersing myself in the wisdom visions!
